Soon to rise: 126-hectare Mandaue Harbor City

Mandaue Harbor City, the newest reclamation project is soon to rise as D.M. Wenceslao & Associates Incorporated is looking to a 126-hectare of soil for a reclamation of their latest project, Mandaue Harbor City.

In this infrastructure construction, the Mandaue Harbor City’s goal is to enhance the ‘economic’ and ‘commercial activities’ along the north coast of Cebu. What makes this interesting is that the developers behind this project are aiming to be a highly diversified and environmental-friendly neighborhood!

Photo from cebudailynews.inquirer.net (D.M Wenceslao and Associates Inc. flagship development –Aseana City. | Artist’s Perspective)

It will feature various outdoor activities and expansive spaces to be more engaging towards visitors while maintaining the safety protocols.

The entire project is said to be inspired from Aseana City in Metro Manila, where it will enhance the retail, trade, and merchandising sectors in a more sustainable, and productive Cebu.

This also means that the sidewalks are wider, more secure from crime activities, and stable to stand against harsh weather conditions; and of course, could help decongest the traffic of Mandaue.

Mandaue Harbor City will also cater towards having office buildings, dining, retail, fitness, and supermarkets! This will make Mandaue a more commercialized site towards its residents, business owners, and tourists.

The future of Mandaue City is looking bright, my friends! This might be another turning point towards prosperity in Cebu – with the right amount of resources and planning; this could be a milestone for Mandaue City.

A guide to terminating your PLDT subscription plan

1

Do you wish to cancel your PLDT subscription plan? Well, whatever the reason is – you may do so!

Keep in mind that you read your PLDT contract first, as you know there are terms where you will be charged a termination fee during their ‘lock-in period’, lock-in period’s last about 2 years (24 months) before you can terminate your plan without getting charged a termination fee.

Or if you are a Home Fibr Plan subscriber, your subscription is subject to a 3 years lock-in period (36 months).

“Why would I want to do any of that?! I’d rather not pay to cancel my subscription plan.” Well, you may – but I’d advise you not to do it because your account under your name will be marked to have bad records and blacklisted in their database, so you won’t be able to avail of any of their services in the future.

But don’t worry, in this article, I will teach you the steps to terminate your account. Reasonably.

Photo from PLDT Facebook Page

Contact their hotline

Reach out to their customer service representatives to issue a termination to your account, during this call they will brief you over your account’s status, should there be unsettled bills and remaining balances before termination.

So be sure to have settled your bills for the month.

Visit the nearest office branch

Up until now I even wonder why big companies such as PLDT prioritize on-site queries over online and hotline queries, all platforms should be equally treated and accommodated; but for now, if you wish to process your termination request, visit the nearest office branch.

There are certain requirements to prepare for the termination process, here are the things you need to bring with you:

  • Valid ID (Check the list of valid ID’s)
  • Termination Letter:

Prepare your Letter of Termination, indicating your account details such as:

  • Account Name
  • Account Number
  • Landline Number
  • Address
  • Reason for termination
  • Authorization letter (if you send a representative on behalf of your account)
  • Cash
Photo from officemoto.com

Be specific and accurate in your letter, it will help keep things in check between you and PLDT.

Waiting process upon termination request

Yes, it does take about 2-3 weeks (or 4, depending on how unresponsive PLDT can be sometimes) for a customer service representative to contact you again on either mobile number or landline.

The customer service will ask for your confirmation to finalize the process, upon confirmation, the termination will take about 2-3 days.

So that’s about the steps you need to know to process your subscription plan termination with PLDT. They do process your request attentively, but it takes a lot of patience to bear with the slow process sometimes. Wish you all the best!

Cebu’s Slater Young: Life Beyond the Skypod

Slater Young is known for being the grand winner of Pinoy Big Brother: Unlimited and the husband of lifestyle blogger and author Kryz Uy. What most people do not know much about is his life before stepping into the spotlight.

BEFORE PBB

His real name is Jan Slater Lee Young, the eldest son of John and Salome Young. He was born on December 19, 1987.

Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu was his secondary school. He went to college at University of San Carlos in Cebu City and eventually got a degree in civil engineering. He took the board exam but failed at his first attempt. At his second try, he finally earned a pretty high score.

After becoming an engineer, he worked in Hi-Speed Construction and Development. It is a construction company that specializes in pre-engineered steel building systems owned by his dad.

CREATING HIS OWN DESTINY

Instead of following his father’s path, the Cebuano engineer decided to take a new route. He aimed to make his own successes without relying on his family’s fortune. He worked as a civil engineer for a handful of big companies like BigFoot, Nestlé, and S & R.

Eventually, Young explored the world of showbiz. Slater’s father, John Young, was hesitant at first about letting his son enter the show business. But after Slater’s win, Mr. Young showed a great support to his eldest son’s future endeavors.

YOUNG TODAY

Apparently, he made his way out from the big screen in 2014. But today, Liteblock Founder and CEO Slater Young makes his own mini vlogs series called #asktheengineer wherein his followers can ask questions about home maintenance. Longer vlogs are posted on his YouTube channel. He does podcast too with his wife Kryz.

Kryz and Slater got married in 2019 at Shangri-La Mactan in Cebu. They welcomed their first son Scott Knoa Young last 2020.

Skewered Saang: Cebu’s underrated street food favorite

0

Hello, mga Sugboanons! Have you ever tried “Saang” before? Just so you don’t get confused, a Saang (Lambis scorpius) is just like a regular aninikad (Plicate conch), but its shell has ‘horns’. I’m sure you’ve encountered this dish before – it’s usually boiled and served hot in the table; and even sawsaw (dip) it in vinegar or soy sauce.

This type of shellfish is usually common in coastal towns where you’d find many other fresh seafoods caught daily – but it has also reached the main city Cebu, and I’m not just talking about market places; you’d usually find these in travelling vendors/cart merchants too!

Photo from the wires
Photo from The Sibutad Tourism Office Facebook Page

Yes, it can be both an appetizer, an ulam (side dish), and a snack! The prices would vary, depending on sizes; but commonly it only cost ₱25 per stick.

Vendors crack the shell open exposing its meat, or use a pin to pluck the meat out of its shell! And gently pulls the claw/fin of the meat.

Their sauce is a great combo for it; it’s a jar filled with vinegar, mixed with chopped onions, garlic, and chili peppers – you could even pair it with a puso (hanging rice) to experience the Cebuano dining to a more authentic level!

Photo from the wires

You should keep an eye out for these carts! Colon is usually where I spot these types of vendors, but I know there’s more of these in other parts of Cebu.

If you haven’t tried it, I say you should, at least once! It’s a great way to understand and experience the culinary seafood world in the Philippines!
