More Bike Lanes and Bicycle Parking Areas in the Philippines

This time, cyclists are being prioritized.

Senator Raffy Tulfo expressed his plans to expand bike lanes here in the Philippines. To do this, he is looking to introduce a new bill. The senator said that there is a need to establish a formal agency to take charge of implementing bike-related policies, rules, and regulations. This is to ensure the safety of all cyclists in the country.

Why There is a Need for More Bike Lanes

Due to the pandemic and the recent price hikes of fuel, people are now choosing to use environmental-friendly transportation, in this case, bicycles.

With the current road situation in the Philippines, bikers have to share lanes with cars, buses, and even motorcycles. This can become extremely dangerous for all parties and can lead to many vehicular or road accidents.

More Information on the Bicycle Act

The Bicycle Act or Senate Bill 1698 pushes the idea of creating a local bikeway office. The office will oversee all construction and maintenance of infrastructures that are related to bikes. The city or municipal engineering office will be the one to supervise.

The local bikeway office is also expected to create bike lanes on all the main roads and highways due to the rise in bike usage.

The bill is said to follow a Social Weather Stations survey. According to the survey, about 87% of Filipinos prefer bicycles and public transportation to be prioritized on the road.

The bill also includes the responsibilities and restrictions of cyclists. Some responsibilities are the following: Having one hand on the handlebar at all times; wearing a helmet properly; keeping personal items in a basket or rack; and not riding the bicycle on a sidewalk.

However, the Bikeways Office was pioneered by the Marikina City Council before Tulfo proposed the idea recently.

The PNPA Cadetship Program is officially accepting admissions for those interested in the scholarship program. The PNPA Cadetship Program is a 4-year tutoring program to prepare those looking to take up a Bachelor of Science in Public Safety Degree.

There is a need for recruits to take the PNPA Cadet Admission Test to fully prepare for the selection. Just like any other scholarship program, there are qualifications for PNPA admission.

Qualifications

Must be a Natural-born Filipino Citizen
Must be 18-22 years old before June 1, 2024
Must at least be a Senior High School Graduate and/or have complied with all graduation requirements before July 30, 2024
Must have a Normal BMI
Single with NO parental obligation

Lukresia or known online as thirdworldbb, raises the bar as she walked for Mugler at the famous and most anticipated Paris Fashion Week. The Queer model became a hot topic, literally and figuratively, after she was seen walking the runway wearing a tasseled top and leather pants with zipped cutouts.

With her hair sleeked back into a ponytail, Lukresia was ready to take on the catwalk and set it a blaze. Fueled with professionalism and passion, people cannot get enough of Lukresia’s powerful vibe as she raises the LGBTQ Flag on international runways.

Who is thirdworldbb or Lukresia?

Lukresia or thridworldbb is a Cebu-based model and designer. She previously worked with Mugler before walking for the same brand during Paris Fashion Week. In one of her Instagram photos, Lukresia sports a black Mugler bodysuit.

The model is also famous for reclaiming the word “Bayot” and turning it positive again. In the Visayas, the word “bayot” which means gay, has been used as a negative term pertaining to people part of the LGBTQ Community.

Lukresia openly embraced the word and made it her own, showcasing that she is a proud member of the LGBTQ Community and that being “bayot” is far from negative. .
