This Filipina earns ₱150k daily from her carinderia in South Korea

South Korean food can be found all over the country — but Filipino food in South Korea? A taste of home? Yes please!

Photo from YoüLOL YouTube Channel

This Filipina shares her rags-to-riches story about opening up a small carinderia, turning it into a highly profitable business, in South Korea of all places!

The owner of the successful carinderia, “Ate Violeta” was first seen in an episode of Running Man Philippines, where the team met her in South Korea’s cute and popular “Little Manila”, in which many Filipino vendors sell their goods and services.

The businesswoman explains how a great deal of vendors and retailers have always sold their goods there longer than her, and that how Ate Violeta believed that she was the last one in their neighborhood to start a business. Based on her words, the diner that she now has was previously owned by someone else.

Photo from YoüLOL YouTube Channel

Although she’s reached the point of financial success, Ate Violeta did not have it easy from the start.

Life in the Philippines was extremely difficult prior to marrying a Korean and settling down. Even when she had her own carinderia, she still had to raise 6 of her siblings. A younger one of hers married early yet had a troublesome relationship with a fellow Filipino, this is why she jokes around about wanting to marry a Korean even more. With a stroke of luck and the help of a friend, she finally met a Korean while based in Manila.

After making her dream of marrying a Korean come true, she then left her eatery and settled in South Korea. Presently, Ate Violeta now has 2 beautiful children and is in charge of a successful carinderia!

Her eatery, at a daily rate, earns up to ₩2,000,000! This is roughly around ₱86,000. If all is tallied up from all her other branches, then her daily income would be about ₩3,500,000 or ₱150,000.

Ate Violeta serves many kinds of Filipino cuisine, from adobo, Pinoy BBQ, kakanins, lumpia, and other more to choose from! Filipinos who miss their authentic home-cooked food are her most popular customers.

Ate Violeta is not alone. There are more Filipino success stories all around the world, especially when their business revolves around food. Our fellow Filipinos outside the country get homesick so soon, and would do anything to get a taste of what feels like home!

Float in Mundo Island’s dazzling crystal clear waters in Lapu-Lapu City

The translucent swathes of the ocean are always a sight to see!

As a group of people residing in an island that is surrounded by gorgeous beaches, it is never a bore to have the view of the vast clear ocean before you. In Lapu-Lapu, there is a tiny speck of land in the map that holds these Maldives-like crystalline waters. You do not need to catch a flight anywhere else to get a taste of what the waters in paradise are like.

Photo from Sue Avery

Let us find out what makes the island so mesmerizing!

Take a dip in the immersive seawater

Mundo Island’s azure waters that seem to sparkle underneath the sunlight is surely something you would feel blessed to see.

To get a better view of the area that swallows you, big rocks all over ocean floor that peek out of the water can be sat on, in case you need a break to take in the sight before you, or to have a Little Mermaid-esque photoshoot that can grace your summer Instagram feed.

Photo from Macario BEACH Facebook Page
Photo from Macario BEACH Facebook Page
Photo from Macario BEACH Facebook Page

The area is private and does not hold any sort of public commotions like most beaches do, so expect to see clean sand underneath and keep it that way until you leave so others can also witness the beautiful ocean floor below.

The island gracefully gives you a glimpse of what you are about to dive into, and it needs to remain that way so as to give other wavy babes their fair share of ocean eye-candy.

The city along the horizon

It is not only the waters below that can pull you, but also the views along the skyline from afar.

While you enjoy getting submerged in the gorgeous transparent waters, the cityscape before you will entice you as well.

Not to mention, boats also pass by the island often so you can catch them and maybe give a little wave, or take scenic pictures with them in the background for that tropical aesthetic.

What are you waiting for? Ready your beach sandals and see this for yourself!

Y2K babies rejoice: Totally Spies! back with a new season

Where my Y2K babies and enthusiasts at?

It is time to gather around the television once more for our favorite childhood cartoon has come back! We can finally reunite with our beloved Sam, Clover, and Alex.

Photo from Cartoon Network

Warner Bros. Discovery has acquired the program and in 2024, it will air once again with a seventh season after a decade.

If your memory of them is hazy, Totally Spies! Sam, Clover, and Alex are three teenage girls from Beverly Hills, California, whose lives are followed. The sisters secretly act as agents for a group committed to defending the planet against evil forces in addition to leading luxurious lives.

The premise of the series, in which the girls balance their lives as high school students with the chaos and danger of their undercover job, helped the show become famous. It is especially well-known for the feminine or teen-oriented personal care items that make up the renowned spy trio’s tools and equipment. What icons!

Photo from Cartoon Network

Despite the new style under new management, producer and CEO of Banijay Kids & Family Benoît Di Sabatino stated that the show will remain true to its key elements. The slight modifications are to cater to the look of modern TV. With the released new looks, they still appear to be as chic as they were.

It is still unclear who the voice actors will be, but Stephane Berry had directed the show from the first to the fifth seasons, and will be the one to helm the seventh. We can expect to feel nostalgia and familiarity.

Photo from Cartoon Network

The seventh season is set to air in the United States next year. A final premiere date as to when in 2024 is yet to be announced in and outside of the United States.

A new Final Destination is in the making

The last Final Destination was not so final after all!

A continuation of the infamous franchise “Final Destination” is currently in production after more than a decade of silence, and fans are excited!

Photo from Warner Bros.

The gore film franchise’s comeback will be produced and written by Jon Watts, a director known for his prominent work such as Marvel’s Spider-man Trilogy. The announcement was made public during the Warner Bros.’s panel at CinemaCon 2023. Final Destination 6 will also be managed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who are co-directors most notably known for co-directing Freaks, a thrilling science fiction movie.

Although the diegesis of the movie is still under confidential status, Jeffrey Reddick (writer and creator of the original Final Destination) guaranteed that this upcoming sequel’s story will not go along with the plotlines of the franchise’s previous installations.

Photo from Warner Bros.

“I will say that it’s not just going to be another kind of ‘we set up a group of people, they cheat death, and then just death gets them.’ And there’s one wrinkle that we kind of added to every movie to kind of like change it up a little bit. This one is a true Final Destination movie, but it doesn’t follow that kind of formula that we’ve kind of established. I think I can say that much,” his exact words.

Final Destination’s franchise has generated 5 consecutive movies since its first release in 2000. A general synopsis of each film centers on a specific group of people going around and cheating their deaths in seemingly ominous premonitions, yet ultimately loses to death in weird and brutally unusual ways each and every time the movie nears its conclusion.

Photo from Warner Bros.

The ill-famed series has amassed world-wide attention from horror fans due to its fascinating plot. With the unknown antagonist being the embodiment of literal death, causing these tragic “accidents” to occur by working behind the lines and tactfully orchestrating the outcome.

Sadly, the release date for the long-awaited return is still unclear, yet will be posted along with updates in the future.

Dine among nature at Paraizzo Garden Cafe in Compostela

Sage advice to make your summer worthwhile? Visit a garden!

Away from the city and the rowdy beaches, all of us are looking for some time away from places that are bustling with a little too much life. Hidden away from the hotspots of provinces, hidden away in the trees are mesmerizing places that are surrounded by the calmness of nature.

Many of us think that the natural wonder to run to during summer time would be beaches, but because beaches are popular among tourists, they can be too packed and may cause you more stress than relaxation.

Best part is, nature is always aesthetically pleasing. They have a lot of spots you can take good photos in. Not to mention, the natural lighting will make you look sunkissed!

Relieve stress at the poolside

Being away from the beach does not mean you cannot relax and submerge yourself in relaxing waters – with the scorching heat, we really need it!

Luckily, amidst the gardens of Paraizzo is a pool you can relax in. Have fun with your friends and family while basking under the sun and looking over the menagerie of trees below you.

Along the poolside they have umbrellas that are made out of nipa palm. Nipa palms are effective in making places look like a tropical paradise. Another one for the Instagram feed.
