Study shows engaging in Oral Sex can lead to Throat Cancer

Do you have an active sex life? Or are you a sucker for oral sex (pun intended)? If yes, you might want to lock your eyes on this article.

Photo from Unsplash

In a piece published in The Conversation, a study in the New England Journal of Medicine revealed that those who have six or more oral-sex partners in their lifetimes are more prone to developing throat cancer, particularly oropharyngeal cancer.

Oropharyngeal cancer is sweeping the West with its extensive increase. Oropharyngeal cancer affects the area of the tonsils and the back of a person’s throat. Moreover, this kind of throat cancer is caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), which is sexually transmitted.

Photo from Unsplash

According to the study by Hisham Mehanna, about 1,000 in the UK undergo tonsillectomy for non-cancer-related reasons, and most of them engage in oral sex. However, not all of these people develop oropharyngeal cancer.

There is a theory that says most people catch HPV but are able to clear it out through and through. Unfortunately, a small population cannot thoroughly flush out the infection, possibly because of an abnormality in the immune system. There is a possibility that the virus will continue to replicate and combine with the person’s DNA which turns cells cancerous.

And now, Mattel partnered with the National Down Syndrome Society (NDDS) in the US as it launches its first Barbie doll with Down syndrome. With the help of NDDS and professionals in the medical field, Mattel was able to sculpt a new face and body for Barbie that properly represents women with Down syndrome.

The new doll has a shorter stature and a longer torso. It is also complete with a pendant necklace designed with three inverted V’s representing the “Lucky Few” or the 21st chromosome associated with the person with Down Syndrome.

The new doll is part of Mattel’s Barbie Fashionista series. The line also includes a Barbie with a prosthetic leg, a Barbie in a wheelchair, and more.

Here’s what will happen if you don’t register your SIM

Been procrastinating with getting your SIM card registered? Now is the perfect time to get it done!

All jokes aside, tomorrow, April 26, 2023 was supposed to be the last day of SIM registration. However, the deadline has been extended for 90 days. But even with the extension given, it is still important that we heighten its prioritization and take it seriously. Many of us know that it is a must, but we do not really understand why. Now is the time to find out and take action.

Photo from Unsplash

Here’s everything you need to know about the SIM registration, and what will happen if you fail to. Take note that some of the information listed below is subject to change.

Is it a must to have our SIM cards registered?

Yes, all new and existing SIM cards must be registered under the new SIM Registration Law.

Why should we have our SIM cards registered?

The law was implemented for our safety as consumers by supposedly combating criminal deception. Nefarious practices have been prevalent with unregistered SIM cards, such as scams and other forms of mobile and online fraud.

Photo from Unsplash

Apart from this, the deactivation upon failing to do so can cause unnecessary disruptions with the access and use of online and mobile banking, transaction authorization, identification issuance, as well as advisories.

What will happen if I don’t register my SIM card?

Because the SIM Registration Act is a law, legal consequences will be faced by those who fail or refuse to have their SIM cards registered.

  • First offense: Fine of no less than P100,000 but not more than P300,000
  • Second offense: Fine of no less than P300,000 but not more than P500,000
  • Third and subsequent offense: Fine of no less than P500,000 but not more than P1,000,000 for every offense thereof

Now that we have understood its purpose, we will make it easier for you to have them registered at this point in time. Prepare one (1) valid ID for identification purposes, and click the links below according to your network.

No Covid-19 Restrictions Will Be imposed in Cebu Province- Gov. Gwen Garcia

Put your face shields back in storage because Cebu will have no Covid-19 restrictions and lockdowns.

People have been in a buzz for the past few days because of reports that the Inter-Agency Task Force announced. According to them, as part of their COVID-19 response, 26 areas, including Cebu province, are placed under Alert Level 2.

Photo from Gov. Gwen Garcia Facebook Page

Because of this, Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia held a press conference tackling the issue. Garcia questioned the IATF’s decision to place Cebu province under Alert Level 2 and said they have no authority.

“It’s a very confusing list. It’s either they were confused, or they just want to confuse, but we will not be part of their confusion”,

GOV. GARCIA STATED.

In line with this, the governor guaranteed that there would be no restrictions in Cebu.

IATF mandated that areas included in the Alert Level 2  must follow restrictions limiting the indoor establishments’ capacity of fully vaccinated adults to 50 percent. Meanwhile, the capacity outdoors is set to 70 percent.

Moreover, the Department of Health clarified in a statement that the Alert Level 2 status has been imposed since June 2022.

Mini heart attack? You can breathe now. But of course, as responsible people of Sugbo, let us still be careful and observe proper hygiene, such as washing our hands and disinfecting. Practicing good hygiene will not only protect us from COVID-19 but also from other diseases and viruses.

This Cebuana has step foot on all the provinces in the Philippines

We found the winner for the Philippine travel level map!

For the past few weeks, the Philippine travel level map wherein people can plot where they have step foot in the country became a trend, and we may have just found who bags gold for it.

Photo from Nicdelrosario on Instagram

A 26-year-old Cebuana who currently lives in Manila working as a bank risk analyst, Nicole Marie del Rosario, was the woman herself behind Project81PH, a personal project that revolves around her goals of stepping into all the provinces of the archipelago.

She wrote on social media about having accomplished her goal in 2019 and it has since then gone viral.

Del Rosario frequently traveled during her childhood summer breaks to Baguio or to visit her grandma in Albay. As a result of these early family vacations, she had a strong sense of adventure and by the time she graduated from college, she began embarking on her own journeys.

In Pinoy culture, seeking out a new adventure is a core, especially when it is spent with loved ones. Many of us seek the natural wonders all the country has to offer in order to celebrate life.

In an interview, she stated that it sparked her to do it with her friends because she was not allowed to do it when she was younger. She began taking backpacking journeys across provinces and made visiting all 81 of them a priority.

From Batanes down to Tawi-Tawi, she decided to see all these places for herself to explore what her own country has to offer her. Del Rosario embarked on the journey and several items on her list or provinces she had already visited with family and friends, were already crossed off with Batanes and Palawan as her favorite ones.

For those who wanderlust, your own country is a good place to start! You can appreciate your own heritage and learn to appreciate the things that are beyond what the eye can see. Feed your pride as a Filipino and feel a greater sense of belonging to your nation by knowing where you stand.
