44-Peso Challenge: Crab Island in Lapu-Lapu City

After the viral hit 85-Peso Cordova White Sandbar last month that reached to at least 1.5 million people on Facebook comes another sure hit island in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

The Crab Island is already quite popular among the locals of Mactan. But not too many people know about this “hidden paradise” yet. Hence, it has NO entrance fee yet as of this writing. Though some residents might charge you ₱10 per head for “touring purposes”, but we recommend to avail this as a help to preserve this attraction.

BY JEEPNEY: From Cebu City, take a 01k jeepney to Parkmall (₱10 /head). From Parkmall, take a Soong (Crossing Marigondon), ₱15/head. Inform the jeepney driver to drop you to crossing Ylaya. From there, ride a Tricycle to Crab island (₱7 /head) and walk about 6-7 minutes to the island.

BY V-HIRE: From SM City Cebu, ride a v-hire bound for Gaisano Island Mall Mactan. From Gaisano, take a Soong (Crossing Marigondon), ₱15/head. Inform the jeepney driver to drop you to crossing Ylaya. From there, ride a Tricycle to Crab island (₱7 /head) and walk about 6-7 minutes to the island.

ALTERNATIVE: From Pier 3 in Cebu City, ride a ferry boat goig to Lapu-Lapu City for ₱14 per head. Then ride a multicab or jeepney going to Gaisano Mactan for ₱7 per head.

What to Expect at ‘Gabii sa Kabilin 2019’

Aside from the travel adventures and aesthetics Cebu brings, we all know Cebu is also rich in history and culture. And this is exactly what we are going to experience this May!

Celebrating Cebu’s beautiful culture on its 13^th year, Gabii sa Kabilin will be “Setting Sail” this May 24, 2019 from 6PM to midnight.

The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) Culture and Heritage Unit and its Local Government Units (LGUs), museum and cultural organizations will feature 18 cultural destinations in the cities of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue and Talisay.

Participants will be treated to cultural perfomances, culinary experience, art fairs, and special exhibits, while selected participating sites also offer children activities.

With plans to invest US$1 Billion for Disneyland Philippines, The Walt Disney Company finds Cebu City as a strategic location for both local and foreign amusement and entertainment goers due to its geographic location lying between Luzon and Mindanao, accessibility by air, land and sea transportation.

The groundbreaking ceremony is set to kick off in June 31, 2019 and will be attended by the executives from Walt Disney US, with the special participation of the Philippine President.
