Amidst shutting down the seaports in Cebu City for passenger vessels due to COVID-19 pandemic, boat trips from Camotes and Bantayan are still on-going with its operations.

During the press conference of Governor Gwendolyn Garcia on March 17, she clarified that only the passengers from other provinces are banned from entering Cebu.

“Ang atong kaugalingong island-municipalities or island-barangays are not covered kay Cebu man, para man ni pagprotehir sa mga Sugboanon,”

– Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia

Ang Bantayan, ang Camotes, even trips from Pilar to Poro or Tudela, dili na covered. Ang Malapascua, Carnaza, Duong ug uban pa nga mga isla, dili na apil.”

“Apan kon gikan na’s Leyte, covered na na,”

, she added.

However, though passengers from its neighboring provinces are restricted to enter Cebu, cargoes carrying goods shall continue given that they pass the sanitary measures.

Regardless of not banning these operations, may we all be reminded of our daily task, to keep ourselves safe from this pandemic. Traveling can wait, so it is still safer to stay indoors unless necessary.
