The Good Leaf Farm in Danao City opened its doors to guests looking to spend a night in the farm. They offer an exclusive stay that guests can book and have all to themselves.

The house is built in the farm premises, surrounded by all sorts of trees, flowers, vegetables, and a garden out front. The architecture of the house is heavily composed of native materials. The wooden floors, bamboo furniture and fixtures, and woven roof and ceilings all come together to make a cozy cottage vibe that says Filipino in personality.

While the focus of staying the night is relaxing and bonding with company, there are a couple of activities you can do to enrich your stay.

Admiring the views

The very first thing to do would be to admire the views around the farm and behold the Head of the Sleeping Giant of Danao City. The aptly named attraction is a mountain with an uncanny resemblance to a gigantic head lying down. The angle from the farm makes it look like the giant is resting close to the property. It truly is a humbling sight.

The farm itself is also a great place to walk around in. The premises allow for leisurely strolls with their footpaths and lights. They even have numerous benches and tables where you can have a conversation in. While you walk, you get can get close to their various vegetables and get to see them in their form before they reach the markets. Just make sure not to step on any of them!

Pampering and Relaxation

Then, you can hop into a Kawa Bath where you can melt in satisfaction; pick fresh vegetables; get a pampering massage; and light a bonfire at night to keep you warm while exchanging stories with friends.

On Thursday night, the Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH-7) released its official, consolidated data of the COVID-19 cases in the region as of June 24, 2021.

Today, the whole island of Cebu — Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, and the Cebu Province — recorded 125 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, 112 new recoveries, and 2 new deaths. This brings Cebu’s total confirmed cases to 55,264, while the active cases increased to 1,632 (from 1,621).

Drop off at “Samboan munisipyo” or “boluntaryo sa Samboan” and then hire a motorcycle (habal-habal) to bring you to Lantaw de Samboan. Fare is around ₱100.

El-Grahe De Busay is open for late breakfast, lunch, and dinner on most days, and on clear days you’ll get to see a clear view of the moon and a remarkable vista of the city. For days with foggy or rainy weather, you can still enjoy the delicious food and rink under the shelter of tents within the dining area.

Kampitlok Peak in Bogo City: A Peek on the Peak

Even before the pandemic, hiking to mountains and peaks became a new social hobby to many. If you happen to be one of those highland enthusiasts, then Kampitlok Peak in Sitio Kampitlok, Barangay Binabag, Bogo City should be added to your checklist. 

The good thing about visiting this peak, it does not require camping gear for a campsite due to its distance, nor a required hiking outfit—unless, of course, you want to make a huge fuss about #OOTD (Outfit of the Day). The accessibility of the peak to its tourist opened an opportunity to be visited more often to get the mountain view experience.

High but Not Far—and Free

From Bogo City, it only takes 11 minutes to reach Barangay Binabag where Kampitlok Peak is located. The road to the peak is a perfect trek for bikers and hikers. You can ask the locals around the area which road to take if unsure. Upon reaching the peak, the overlooking green landscape offers fresh air you can freely breathe in. Ah yes, there is no entrance fee to be paid so that’s a plus point for those who are tight on budget.

The Luscious Trees

On your way to the peak, you get to pass by a road lined with trees, and an ideal spot for your Instagram feed. The road is not perilous which means you can bring your bicycle for a peak adventure. The scenery showcases a green horizon with the sea just beyond the humble plain of Barangay Binabag. There may be trees on your way—an advantage to those who forgot to bring their SPF lotion—but the peak is bare enough to see the beauty around it.

Tourist-Encouraging Local Government Activities

One of the reasons why Kampitlok Peak is making noise online is because of the active and engaging efforts of the local government. Barangay Binabag highly encourages its people to advertise what their barangay has to offer. With photo contests of the beautiful destinations within the area, more visitors will be interested to see these places including Kampitlok Peak.

Mother Earth has so much to offer. There are beautiful spots to discover. If the local government continuously spearheads featuring the wonders of their area, the tourist engagement will continuously improve as well. Kampitlok Peak, aside from a great hiking destination, has not opened a place to stay at night. As a tourist, that idea would be great don’t you think?

HOW TO GET THERE?

Exact location: Sitio Kampitlok Barangay Binabag Bogo, Philippines — approx. 3 hours away from the city.

BY V-HIRE/BUS/TRICYCLE (FOR COMMUTERS): 

  1. From Barangay Daanluungsog road, just go straight until you reach Curva-Bangon-Medellin road.
  2. From that point, turn left until you reach a turning right road. But do not turn, just go straight until you see Agrivet Supply store and you’ll see a turning left road.
  3. Turn left and you’ll see a local resident houses then go ask for directions going to Kampitlok Peak or go straight until you reach Barangay Binabag and just ask straight the Barangay workers.

BY CAR: Navigate with Waze or Google Maps and set your destination to Kampitlok Peak in Barangay Binabag, Bogo City.

Cebu logs 22 new cases on June 21

On Monday night, the Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH-7) released its official, consolidated data of the COVID-19 cases in the region as of June 21, 2021.

Today, the whole island of Cebu — Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, and the Cebu Province — recorded 22 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, 143 new recoveries, and 1 new death. This brings Cebu’s total confirmed cases to 54,898, while the active cases dropped to 1,487 (from 1,600).

– Total deaths: 868 (+1 new)

Lapu-Lapu City
– Total confirmed: 6,739 (+4 new)

What says cozy better than bricks, wood, and tile? The house has two floors and sports both a porch with free-flowing fresh air, and a spacious balcony overlooking the colorful garden. There’s certainly an abundance of legroom and space to move around in the house, and if you’re looking to get active, you can play on the billiard table, jam to songs in the karaoke room, or jump around in the trampoline right beside the house.

The highlight of the property is definitely its one-of-a-kind swimming pool. The pool sits in the middle of the lawn surrounded by a rich variety of trees and flowers. This just makes for a unique swimming experience, it’s almost like bathing in a spring. In the corner there’s an inviting tub for more of a shallow dip, and guests can also lounge and sunbathe in the chairs beside the pool. Nothing beats a cocktail and a snack enjoyed poolside!

Speaking of food, guests are advised to bring their own. For no corkage at all, you get to enjoy your own homemade meals or your scrumptious takeout. If you decide to instead cook in Mactan Gardens, you can bring your own equipment and cook freely. Otherwise, a 6-burner gas stove and 1 charcoal grill are available for rent.

MANICURED LAWN

The lawn around the house is a carpet of green trimmed grass sprinkled with exotic flowers and simply beautiful trees. No space is left bare as shrubs and trees sprout in every corner of the garden – even right beside some parts of the house! All the blooming plant life can easily make you forget that you are in the city.

And who wouldn’t find themselves lost in a trance among the lush whites, yellows, and magentas of bougainvillea blooms, kalachuchi flowers, gumamelas, desert roses, and santan bushes? Not to mention the rich and healthy green that surrounds the lawns.

The lawn fittings will take you further into the immersion of mother nature. At night, the garden transforms into a magical scene out of a fairytale. As the sun hides away and the sky becomes a blanket of darkness, the lawns are enveloped by the soft, golden glow of warm lamps. The vivid colors in the garden go to rest, but the evening lighting creates a scenery of absolute serenity. On top of all this, guests can use the fire pit to stay warm and continue basking in the view of the lawn.

    • Excess Persons: ₱500 per adult; ₱250 per kids 6-10 y/o
    • The house is not part of the package. Anything under the roof is not open to guests.
    • There is a bathroom and toilet outside for guests.
    • Mactan Gardens are currently not accepting overnight stays, but they say hopefully they can in the future.
