A sleepy town situated off the southwestern coast of Cebu, Alegria also has its fair share of tourist spots that will make you want to check the town out.
Here are the five (5) must-visit attractions in Alegria, southern Cebu.
1. MT. LANAYA
Up for a challenging hike? Try Alegria’s Mt. Lanaya which is 700 meters above sea level.
The trek is made challenging due to the very steep slope, but the view at its peak is breathtaking and will surely be worth it. You will have a perfect view of the sea and the Negros Province right across.
If you go for the Legaspi trail, it will take approximately 3-4 hours to get to the peak (5-6 hours for beginners). Exit route is the Lumpan trail. From Barangay Lumpan, you can hire a habal-habal to go back to the town proper (P25-P30). For a more memorable experience, you can camp overnight to witness the sunset and sunrise.
Entrance fee: P50 (to be paid at the barangay hall)

2. MONTPELLIER FALLS
Looking for a less traveled spot? Montpellier Falls is for you.
Known to locals because of the easy trek, Montpellier Falls is very tall but with thin water flowing from a limestone cliff. The water drops into a large boulder surrounded by aqua-blue fresh water.
This is a perfect spot to drop by after a hike to Osmena Peak. Montpellier Falls is surrounded by palm tress and dense green foliage, giving you that jungle vibes. There are no facilities within the area so it’s a pure nature trip.
Entrance fee: None
Guide fee: None (you can just ask the locals to point you to the starting trail)
Other information:
Bring your own water and food if planning to stay for long cause there are no stores nearby.
Exact Location: Barangay Guadalupe, Alegria,Cebu

3. CANCALANOG FALLS
Cancalanog falls is quite small. But what makes it popular is not really the waterfall itself, but the very clear, blue waters in the natural pool.
The natural pool is surrounded by 3 boulders, making it look like some private pool. The bluish water is so clear that you get to see the large rocks in the pool’s floor.
There is also a 2-storey hut and a bamboo bridge that will take you from one cliff to another. Travel tip? Bring a snorkel. Although you won’t see corals or numerous fishes here, but the clear blue waters will still make your snorkel experience magical.
Entrance fee: P50
Motorbike fee: P80-P90 (one-way only)
Other information:
Cambais Falls and Montepellier Falls are located relatively nearby. So it’s best to target these 3 spots in one day.

With its cold climate, visitors often tag this place as “Alegria’s Little Baguio”. This place is perfect for some morning biking or picnic with family and friends.
Entrance fee: None
Other information:
Visit Lepanto on an early morning or afternoon because it tends to be very hot around midday with little shade to provide tourists or bikers.

5. CAMBAIS FALLS
Cebu province seems to be blessed with too many beautiful waterfalls, right? Well, here’s another one. Cambais falls is a 2-level waterfalls with bluish water. Its water drops off a a giant limestone and you can enjoy cliff jumping or swimming in the natural pool.
You can get to the second level by climbing up a bamboo ladder. This spot is best paired with your sunrise hike at Osmena Peak because it’s quite near (approximately 30 minutes motor ride).
Cebu lives up to its expectations of a nature escapade as it has an incredible roster of breathtaking waterfalls. Now, we are showcasing one of that roster. Meet Ginatilan’s pride: the Inambak Falls.
The waterfall spans out into 5 different levels, which is already an amazing feat, and the main waterfall of Inambak Falls is taller than the main waterfall of the Kawasan Falls. Those who have the hobby of canyoneering would surely enjoy this place as it is an incredible jump to take in.
Inambak Falls could possibly come from the Bisaya word “ambak”, which is to jump, and surely a jump into the cold and relaxing waters of the falls is a good way to name it.
The water beneath is actually quite deep and the mossy cliffs and the overarching cave behind the falls makes it look like a natural paradise.

5 Levels of Inambak Falls
If you would like to visit all five levels, it would be advisable to get a guide yourself.
5th level: The fifth level, which is the topmost level, is a 15-foot cliff jump into the pool below, or about a 1 storey building jump.
4th & 3rd level: The fourth and third level is actually a small and cozy oasis a group of people can dip themselves in while feeling the sensation of the falls going down on your body.
2nd level: The second level is a very spectacular setting as the water runs down through a gentle slope on a cliff going towards the emerald pool. A rock can be found where the falls and the pool meet, so one can go there and give themselves a good old massage from nature.
1st level: Finally, the first level, which is the most bottom level, is a giant waterfall gushing out of the cliff edges around 100 feet tall with the same emerald waters greeting you to its cozy comfort.

Because of its timelessness, Disney-inspired photoshoots have been a staple for every theme of every birthday party. But just when we have thought that we have seen them all, a debutante from Cebu suddenly caught our attention.
Joy Mañacap, a debutante from Cebu, stood out from the sea of debutantes by doing a Mulan-inspired photoshoot.
It was just recently that the movie adaptation of Mulan has made waves on social media. This, then, surfaced online. What a great way to really stand out. With her beauty and the shots, I could say it really deserves to trend.
These photos are beyond captivating that we couldn’t help, but reminisce the movie we just watched and our childhood.
People often seek the comforts of nature but rarely do people say they want to visit nature for something breathtaking in the literal sense. Mt. Kapayas offers the perfect kind of rush for people who are looking to challenge Mother Nature especially for rock climbing enthusiasts.
Photo by Ma Stella Aranco Sumayang
Mt. Kapayas, or locally known as Lantawan, stands in the bowels of Catmon, Northern Cebu as the second highest peak in the island of Cebu. Although second in height, the challenges that it offers is far from second-rate.
Photo by Ma Stella Aranco Sumayang
Photo by Ma Stella Aranco Sumayang
The trail starts with a steep rise that is immediately followed by gentler rolling terrains. Around 30 minutes into the trek, a shallow stream is encountered which offers the choice of refreshing the feet with fresh water or hopping across it to stay dry.
From this point, a few houses and residents of Barangay Kabangkaya can be encountered. Beyond it is a hill that offers respite and if trekkers are lucky, they may spot some horses grazing and resting as well.
The second part of the hike proves to be much more difficult than the first. It begins with an open field exposed to the heat of the sun but is immediately followed by a steep, wooded area that offers shade.
Photo by Ma Stella Aranco Sumayang
Finally, after interchanging sections of rocks and jungles is a 15-to-20-foot vertical rock face which opens up to one of the best views in Cebu – a panorama of the naked beauty of Cebu Island.
The Torre, the peak’s given name, has a breathtaking view of endless trees and mountains from all angles and makes it very rewarding after an exhausting trek.

Yes, I am talking about those natural magnificent waterfalls that our country is famous for.
Located in Dumanjug, southern Cebu (at the boundary of Dumanjug-Ronda), is the hidden gem that is Cambanog Falls. It is also called ‘Kawasan’ or ‘Lusno Falls’ by the locals.
Edzel Ogue
Hidden as this falls is remotely located adding to its local charm and relaxed atmosphere. The cool waters at the bottom of the falls is quite deep so prepare your swimming skills if you want a dip.
It doesn’t even have its established trail or cement path. So, you’ll have that much needed peace with the therapeutic sound of the tranquil falls.
NOTE: On September 8, 2020, the Dumanjug Tourism Office closed the falls to the public as swimming in the waterfalls is still not allowed under MGCQ guidelines set by the Cebu Provincial Government. They also added that they might impose an entrance fee to control the crowd and maintain the natural attraction.
BY BUS: From the South Bus Terminal. Look for the one heading to Ronda/Dumanjug. Disembark at Dumanjug town proper and find a Habal-Habal driver. It’s best to ask for a local guide, since this is still a newly discovered falls.
BY CAR: Navigate with Waze or Google Maps and set your destination to “Cambanog falls” in Ronda. From the parking spot, you simply walk down the path for 5-minutes until you reach Lusno Falls.

Riding on the momentum of receiving clearance from various local government units (LGUs) to build cell sites across the country, Globe continues to make significant headway in its tower builds through partnerships with several tower companies (towercos).
Globe Chief Finance Officer and Chief Risk Officer Rizza Maniego-Eala says that the company’s partnerships with Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc. (AIC), ISOC-edotco, Transcend Towers Infrastructure (Philippines), CREI Philippines (CREI) and Frontier Towers & Associates (FTA) have advanced to active acquisition and build phases.
“The partnerships with towercos will greatly complement the company’s target in expanding its capacity and coverage throughout the country. These projects will be a catalyst for change in the industry as telcos are empowered to deploy beyond their individual capabilities in a cost efficient manner,” Maniego-Eala explains.
Globe finalized a pole lease agreement with AIC, a subsidiary of the Aboitiz Group, and is seen to increase its footprint by about 200 sites in more parts of Cebu, Davao, and Subic.
In addition, 300 macro sites will be completed for deployment in North Luzon and South Luzon while 400 more sites will be assigned within the year to cover Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The count is projected to increase expansively once the pilot sites of these projects are launched.
First to deliver a tower for activation is ISOC-edotco, a collaboration between ISOC Infrastructure and edotco, a Malaysian based Tower Company (TowerCo), with more currently underway and are expected to be completed shortly.
Globe has committed to be the anchor tenant in a build-to-suit agreement with Transcend Towers Infrastructure (Philippines), a subsidiary of American Tower Corporation, as well as in tower lease agreements with ISOC-edotco, CREI and FTA.
“These infrastructure partnerships demonstrate Globe’s commitment to improve the network quality experience of our customers. It is, likewise, highly supportive of the government’s initiative to increase ICT infrastructure in the country,” Maniego-Eala adds.
Globe continues to increase its network capacity to support the data services needs of customers and stakeholders in light of accelerated digitalization efforts across various sectors including e-payments, e-government, telehealth and distance learning.
