Street food are a big part of being Filipino and some we grow to love so much that it becomes a part of our daily lives.
Without us realizing, this street food grows and becomes a lucrative business venture.

Yes. A small stall of good street food will not stay that small forever as if pushed and nurtured in the right direction they can be pretty successful in the food business.
For Jim Delos Santos, it was his stall for mami called Mang Jim’s mamihan. His mami recipe is such a hit that people flock every day to have a taste. It was a bestseller to everyone around.
Photo from Pera Paraan
With its tasty broth, chewy noodles and tender meat, Mang Jim’s mami was a successful business waiting to happen.
Jim or Mang Jim started his mami business on just a “kariton”. Every day he would push his 3-wheeled stall far and wide to sell the delicious mami.
“Nagsimula po ako sa kariton. Galing Cavite ay niluwas ko pa sa Maynila. Mula sa kariton, nakabili ako ng sidecar,” Mang Jim
Photo from Pera Paraan
With the promise of a warm delicious meal, regular customers started pouring in and soon he realized that selling on a trike moving around wasn’t enough and is becoming too hard.
This inspired him to work on building his mamihan, a huge place for his customers. He built a no-hassle, no-fuzz place where customers order, stand and eat their mami. With no chairs in sight, it was dubbed as “maming tayo” as you eat while standing up.
Photo from Pera Paraan
Starting his mami business with only a capital of P2,000, he is now P100,000 a day. Yes, it is possible with hard work and the most delicious mami recipe.

Mang Jim has remained humble and said that he doesn’t buy expensive things and would rather help those in need. He says that he knows the value of money as he comes from poverty.
Mang Jim’s Mami recipe:
Prepare onion, soy sauce, mami noodles, beef meat and bones, pechay Baguio, onion rings, hot sauce, chili and pepper.

Varna University of Management (VUM) is an international business school located in Bulgaria. That promises to educate tomorrow’s business visionaries. They already have a diverse student body with students from over 40 countries, so there’s no worry as our fellow Cebuanos will fit right in.
VUM curricula are aligned with the partnering institutions and this time, one of Cebu’s top-performing schools, the University of Cebu. The students have to meet up the same high standards in examinations and graduate with degrees from both University of Cebu and VUM.

The students that will be sent here have nothing to worry about in their financial needs as their food and accommodation are funded by the European Union’s Erasmus Plus program.
UC President Atty. Augusto Go has also handed USD 1,000 (~PHP 50,000) for the students to enjoy their flight and their stay in Bulgaria.

I don’t know who needs to read this but you need those scented candles now.

Contrary to popular belief, scented candles don’t mean feminine or an old people thing. Aside from its fragrant property, these aromatherapy candles scented with pure essential oils can have therapeutic effects on the body and mind as well.

Another blend made for making scented candles is being offered by Frase Candle Co Ph. They produce products that use sustainable and locally produced soy and beeswax. They explained that beeswax candles produce negative ions when burned. These ions then help to neutralize pollutants in the air. It means that it aids eliminating dust, odors, and mold in the atmosphere. It also eases allergy and asthma symptoms and improving breathing for anyone nearby.
Aromatherapists uses these candles to promote emotion which means you can choose whatever you want to feel at the moment or whatever you need to feel like relaxation, happiness or sleepiness.
You’ve probably already had a bite of this famous snack, or at the very least, seen one of its famous ads featuring one of the country’s leading heartthrobs – Piolo Pascual. If you guessed it right, then yes, we are talking about Turks Shawarma – the famous Middle Eastern food company that managed to conquer the palates of the Filipino people.
Photo from Turks Facebook Page
With humble beginnings that dated way back in 2007, Turks Shawarma started with a mere, single food cart. Fast forward to today, it is one of the most popular and leading shawarma brands in the Philippines. With its iconic advertisements starring Piolo Pascual that started around 2017, most experts agree that this bold move from a small company back then like Turks was a bold move. Eventually, it paid off, as its current success seems to be worthy of the estimated 6-digit figure as an endorsement fee for the beloved actor.
Photo from Turks Facebook Page
The concept of grilling meat by turning it around in a rotisserie is claimed (by some) to have been invented in Turkey, where it’s called Doner Kebab. When this awesome delicacy begun spreading to the Middle East, it got the name Shawarma, from the Arabic word “turning”. This led to Turks to drop the word ‘shawarma’ off their menu, settling with ‘doner’, which is the actual Turkish name instead.
Photo from Turks Facebook Page
Now with over 300 stalls and stores nationwide, Turks is continuously and steadily growing. If you are interested to be part of that, here’s what you need to know:

What’s the Turks Menu?
The famous Turks Menu include:
Kebab Wrap
Kebab on Rice
Beef and Chicken Pita Doner

What are the Requirements for a Turks Franchise?
Here are the size requirements:
Turks Food cart: Minimum 4 square meters
Turks Kiosk: Between 8 to 10 square meters
Turks Take-Out: Between 11 to 15 square meters
Turks Food Stall: Between 15 to 30 square meters
Turks In-line: Minimum of 20 square meters
Cost:
The estimated average cost for a Turks franchise fee ranges from P1 million to P1.4 million, and this does not yet include the other investment which are required. Turks claims that the total investment can actually range from P1.6 million for a Turks food cart or stall, and up to P3.4 million for a full Turks store.
