LOOK: Mandani Bay’s modern Pinoy Christmas this year

It’s a spectacle as usual in Mandani Bay as the developing lifestyle destination unveils its most anticipated holiday look with “Christmas by the Bay”, a multiple tree lighting ceremony at the Mandani Bay Show Gallery on October 22.

With strict implementation of health protocols, the by-invitation only event will highlight the reveal of Mandani Bay’s Filipino Christmas star-themed decors and will cap off with a grand fireworks display and musical performances by local Cebuano artists.

An annual tradition showcasing Mandani Bay’s solidarity with the Cebuanos, this year’s Christmas by the Bay will feature a modern take on Filipino Christmas celebration, with the parol (traditional Filipino lantern) as the main design theme, all curated to exude a harmonious and blissful holiday season and a sophisticated lifestyle that is Mandani Bay.

“The parol is a symbol of hope and Christmas delight in Filipino culture, and we want to share this hope to all the Cebuanos that brighter days are ahead of us, as we celebrate the most wonderful time of the year,”

Kids now allowed inside malls in Cebu

1

Good news! Children below 15 years old can now enter malls as long as they are accompanied by fully vaccinated guardians.

Cebu City Acting Mayor Michael Rama confirmed in his Directive No. 10-25-01 that unvaccinated minors are now allowed in indoor establishments if they are accompanied by their parents, guardians, or responsible adults who are fully vaccinated.

Recently, malls in Cebu such as SM City Cebu, SM Seaside City Cebu, Ayala Center Cebu, and Ayala Malls Central Bloc have made official announcements. Fully vaccinated adults must present vaccination cards and ID upon entry.

The public is still urged not to let the guard down and must continue to strictly maintain minimum public health standards even if they have already been fully vaccinated.

Furthermore, the new directive states that “any person below 15 years old, those who are over 65 of age, those with immunodeficiency, comorbidity, or other health risks, and pregnant women should be required to remain in their residences at all times, except for obtaining essential goods and services, or for work in industries and offices or such other permitted activities.”

New ‘Chucky’ Trailer Wants to Play in This New Syfy Series

0

He was indeed a stuff of our childhood’s nightmares.

Who would’ve thought that it’s already been 33 years since the demonic doll from hell terrorized kids as well as adults from the ’80s and ‘90s? Child’s Play, the iconic horror movie that was released in 1988 is currently getting a spin-off series to be produced by American cable television channel, Syfy.

For those who don’t know, the story of the first movie involved Charles Lee Ray, a serial killer on the run and as his death wish, transferred his evil soul through witchcraft to a Good Guy doll, Chucky. On a path of revenge, Chucky terrorizes everyone he met, speaking true of his sadistic self.

Having a child’s doll play a sadistic killer seemed laughable at paper, but the movie was a huge success as it spawned various sequels and spin-offs and recently, a trailer dropped citing a spin-off TV series is on its way.

Having been in development since 2019, the writer of the original film, Don Mancini, serves as the main showrunner and creator of all the 10-episodes for the first season.

“The show will be a fresh take on the franchise, allowing us to explore Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format, while staying true to the original vision that has terrorized audiences for over three decades now.”, Mancini said.

The spin-off is rumored a continuation of the film franchise, with young Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur) finding Chucky (once again voiced by Brad Dourif) at a yard sale. The series will also take place in Hackensack, New Jersey, the same town where Chucky terrorized in the past films.

Real Chucky fans are really in for a treat as Brad Dourif, the original voice actor of the infamous Chucky, will also be voicing the demon doll itself in this new series.

Having Brad Dourif aboard in this new project is really what makes the show more iconic and in complete full circle. Many fans argue that the show may be good for nothing if Dourif himself would not be voicing Chucky.

Chucky premiered last Tuesday, October 12 on Syfy. Watch the trailer below:

Newly-registered Voters Can Earn Rewards by taking Selfies

0

Who would’ve thought that just by taking selfies can give you rewards and incentives?

This is the initiative taken by a non-partisan group called Vote Pilipinas as they announced that they will be giving incentives to those who will participate in their campaign gearing “Magparehistro Ka” as their tagline. Together with the Commission on Elections or COMELEC, the initiative campaigns social media voter registration.

How the mechanics goes is that newly registered are encouraged to post selfies on all their social media profiles including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tiktok, etc. explaining “why they need to register to vote”. Some of the hashtags provided by the group for joiners to qualify include #VotePilipinas, #RegisteredToVote and #LiveSmartVoteSmart.

Also, participants need to follow the social media accounts of Vote Pilipinas, followed by sending their registration stubs via the online pages of @votepilipinas.

An online town hall discussion took place last September 27, conducted by Vote Pilipinas themselves where they aptly dubbed it: “#MagparehistroKa Grand Town Hall: Final Countdown”. The town hall discussion featured several interviews with Comelec’s officials, corporate partners, the academe, and community representatives, tackling relevant information about the next year’s elections.

Comelec director James Jimenez also furthered that they the agency already reached its initial target of registering four million voters, both new and reactivated. “We now stand at almost 63 million registered voters for 2022. We want to thank Vote Pilipinas for playing a vital role in being the partner of the commission in campaigning for more people to register,” Jimenez said.

It can be recalled that Comelec announced and extension of the registration of two weeks, officially having October 31 as the last day to register. For overseas Filipinos, the voter registration was also extended from October 1 to 14.

Ces Rondario, Impact Hub Manila’s co-founder and head of Vote Pilipinas, said the town hall discussions have allowed them to campaign relevant information on the country’s voter registration program.

“With the extension, we hope to still encourage more Filipinos and it is never too late to register as we draw closer to the new deadline,” Rondario said.

While the initiative is quite exciting especially because of its incentives, Vote Pilipinas is still yet to announce the exact incentives to the winners of the “Magparehistro Ka!” challenge.

#Viral: Friend fulfills ‘drunken promise’ to lend money for his friend’s dream house

0

Fairies do not just exist in fairytales. Celyn Ramos is a living testament to how fairi godfathers could actually save your dream.

Just as she was about to give up on her lifelong dream of owning her dream house, a friend came to fulfill it. After countless rejected and denied bank loans, who would have thought that a single person could just give her what she has always dreamt of? No one.

Celyn got her last house last year RFO. She has paid for the downpayment and everything was going on smoothly, until the turn-over. She has to apply for a bank loan because they don’t offer Pag-Ibig loan for the unit. However, what she thought to have been a walk in the park was the exact opposite as she has been turned down because she is still paying for her car.

Of all the banks that she has applied for, she was either rejected or the approved amount was not enough. Applying for a housing loan was not her option either since it has a high interest rate. Giving up was her only options after a few months of stress.

“If it is not for me, for us, then I will let it go.”

True enough, she did.

But on her wedding day, their friend asked them about the status of their house and she told their story.

Their friend got drunk. They meant, really drunk, and words of hope were spit by him: “Give me (a) few days and I will give you a cheque worth the price of the house so you can pay in cash.”

Because he was drunk, they just laughed at the idea and shrugged it off. Of course, no one believed him.

But after a few days, they met again and he handed them their cheque to pay their house in full. This was not for free though, of course, but it has the lowest interest rate of (1%).

Who would have thought that after months of giving up, a person whom you would least expect it would actually make you change your heart and help you fulfill your dreams. Here they are now, in their own home.

“Thanks to our Guardian Angel, our fairy Godfather, our friend.”
