‘Train to Busan’ sequel to be released this July in the Philippines

Be ready to scream your gut out because after years of waiting, the “Train to Busan” sequel, Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula, finally has a release date in the Philippines.

The scary hit Korean zombie film is set to be released on July according to Pioneer Films. No exact date was given yet.

The sequel Peninsula is set four years after the zombie outbreak in South Korea. It follows a soldier Jung-seok (Gang Dong-won) who is forced to “relive the horror when assigned to a covert operation with two simple objectives: retrieve and survive.

When his team unexpectedly stumbles upon survivors, their lives will depend on whether the best—or worst—of human nature prevails in the direst of circumstances.”

Watch the trailer below:

Who doesn’t want a good zombie movie right? This will definitely be worth the wait.

Cebu is still placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) until June 15, 2020. In case we shift to the ‘more relaxed’ Modified GCQ, movie theaters will be allowed to operate at 50% capacity.

Top 5 Ways to Keep Yourself Entertained in Cebu

As those of us from Cebu are already aware, the island is one of the most beautiful and enjoyable spots in the whole of the Philippines. Aside from it being known as the Queen City of the South, people who have never visited may be unaware of all the gems this stunning region has to offer.

For anyone interested in visiting this wonderful province, or those who live here and want to discover more, here are the five top ways to keep entertained in Cebu.

Museum Hopping

There are a number of beautiful historic attractions in Cebu, and one of the most important ones is the Cebu Heritage monument. It is made up of various sculptures which depict the history of Cebu. These include the Basilica del Santo Nino, the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, and the Saint John the Baptist Church.

Waterfront Hotel & Casino

Of all the amazing resorts to stay at in Cebu, the Waterfront Hotel & Casino is one of the best in terms of the sheer range of activities on offer. If you’re interested in gambling, you’ll enjoy the fact that there are casino games on offer at this hotel, including roulette and blackjack, which you can practice at home before you play in person, if you wish, after consulting the place to find your bonus online in order to choose which casino to play at. In addition to that, there is a modern swimming pool along with a range of fancy restaurants run by top chefs.

Diving

The waters around Cebu are ideal for diving, with an abundance of exotic marine life for divers to see. The most famous attraction in these parts is the whale shark. These huge fish are known for being friendly and letting people swim alongside them. The Oslob Whale Shark Company guarantees that customers will get the chance to witness the world’s largest fish when they take a tour.

Mountain View Nature Park

A great way to enjoy the beautiful scenery in Cebu is to visit the Mountain View Nature Park in the mountainside region of Busay. The spot provides stunning panoramic views of Cebu city and the surrounding areas and allows you to see for miles. Along with the viewing decks, there is a swimming pool, a children’s playground, and a botanical garden. This makes it a fun day out for the whole family.

Taoist Temple

The Cebu Taoist Temple is another stunning piece of architecture considered a must-see location in Cebu City. This multi-tiered attraction with a number of routes leading up to it was built by the city’s Chinese community in 1972. The entrance is designed to be a replica of the Great Wall of China, and there are stunning dragon sculptures decorating the exterior.

Of course, the list of amazing things to see and do in Cebu goes way beyond this list. Some other standout options include visiting the bustling malls or taking a trip to fast food joint Jollibee.

Try recommending these places to a friend who’s never visited Cebu, and they are sure to fall in love with it.

Hotels, resorts allowed to accept guests in areas under MGCQ

Say ‘hello’ to your next staycation and bid your ‘fake-cation’ a goodbye.

Hotel bookings will be re-opened for tourists in some areas. If the area is placed under modified general community quarantine, hotels will be allowed to re-open, said the Department of Tourism (DOT).

Administrative Order 2020-002 allows:

  • Hotels
  • Resorts
  • Motels
  • Homestays
  • And other accommodation facilities

to accept tourists and business travelers in their areas, given that they follow the 50% capacity.

Other hotel facilities will then be allowed to resume their operations too.

“Ancillary establishments within the premises, such as restaurants, cafés, bars, gyms, spas, and the like, shall be allowed to operate at 50 percent operational capacity only,” read the May 22 order signed by Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.

As of writing, hotels can only cater to guests with:

  • Prior bookings
  • Long-staying guests
  • Travelers in transit
  • Distressed or repatriated OFWs
  • Stranded passengers
  • Health workers
  • Government frontliners
  • Private employees billeted by their companies

The whole island of Cebu — Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, and Cebu Province — has been placed under GCQ. We hope to expect for Cebu to shift to MGCQ after June 15.

Two of the leading airlines in the country, Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific are all set to resume select domestic and international flights this June 2020 as the country shifts to a more relaxed community quarantine.

Both airlines ensure safety of the passengers and staff as they implement stricter preventive measures and sanitation protocols set by various international healthy and aviation organizations and local health authorities.

These are just some of the ‘new normal’ guidelines to note:

  • Disinfection and cleaning of aircrafts between flights and upon parking in boneyards.
  • Passengers will be required to wear face masks
  • Aircraft personnel will be required to wear personal protective equipment
  • Online check-in will also be encouraged to minimize contact with the ground personnel. They are advised to come to the airport at least three (3) hours early as check-in counters will be closed 60 minutes before the flight.
  • When carrying more than two luggage, assign only one representative to go to the baggage drop-off counter. Upon boarding, passengers will be required to hold out their boarding passes with the barcode facing the airline staff, for touchless scanning.

Cebu’s biggest mall reopens on June 1; sets ‘safe malling’ guidelines

If you think you’re ready for the new normal, Cebu’s biggest mall is at it too!

SM Seaside, preparing to welcome back its patrons, has implemented its health and safety protocols in preparation for its re-opening on Monday, June 1, as Cebu City has been placed under general community quarantine (GCQ).

From the doors to the stairs, and even the ATMs, SM Seaside made sure to give us a safer malling experience.

Because #YourSafetyMatters, we continue to thoroughly sanitize our mall as we get ready to welcome you back again!See you soon, Cebu! #SafeMallingAtSM 💙

Posted by SM Seaside City Cebu (Official) on Thursday, May 14, 2020

With SM Supermalls’ #SafeMallingAtSM, our safety is always their top priority. More than re-opening, they made sure you’ll have a great time shopping, or just strolling.

SM also mentioned they have ‘Specialized Sanitation Team’ who will frequently disinfect high-touch areas including, but not limited to:

  • Grocery carts and baskets
  • Toilets
  • Hand rails

The mall will also be “deep-cleaned” before and after mall opening.

When we were in the midst of the crisis, and we still are, SM has been giving back to the community and it is only fitting for us to return the favor. Paying it forward per se.

Watch this video that summarizes the mall’s efforts to prepare for the new normal:

https://www.facebook.com/smsscitycebu/posts/4419745091372529

SM Supermalls’ new policies include:

  • No mask, no entry
  • Thermal scanners in all entrances (those who have fever will not be allowed to enter)
  • Disinfectant mats
  • Frequent use of alcohol and hand sanitizers
  • Practice social distancing inside the malls
    • Use of escalators one step apart
    • Elevator only at 50% capacity is allowed
    • One-way movement in aisles
  • Motorcycles should be parked in every other slot

SM is serious in promoting and implementing “safe malling”.

Let’s do our part by always staying cautious. Let’s enter SM Seaside negative from the virus and leave the premises just the same.

Let’s learn how to live with the ‘new normal’ because we are bound to it. Keep safe!

Here’s what you can expect at Ayala Center Cebu under GCQ

Now that the whole island of Cebu has been placed under general community quarantine (GCQ), some establishments have also been preparing to face our new normal. Ayala Center Cebu is one who is bringing its A-game in ensuring safety to the mall-goers.

Though Ayala Center Cebu ensures our safety, a purposeful shopping is still being encouraged. Only leave your homes when necessary.

Before they reopen their doors to welcome their patrons, Ayala Center Cebu has gone over and beyond to ensure the safety not only of the mall-goers, but also their merchants and frontliners.

Hence, following of these safety measures for the mall-goers must be adhered:

  • Mandatory wearing of face masks
  • Must present quarantine pass and valid ID (that shows the birth date) upon entry
  • Mandatory temperature check (37.5 degrees and up will be refused entry)
  • Use of sanitizing mats from the entrances as an entry protocol mandated by the IATF
  • Frequent handwashing in the restrooms is encouraged
  • Cashless transactions around the mall including parking are encouraged (using of GCash is recommended)
  • Use of automatic sanitizer dispenser is advised
  • Only 2 persons are allowed in the elevator (prioritizing the PWDs and pregnant women)
  • Foot markers are placed on the escalators to guide you on where to stand.

Ayala Center Cebu has also placed directional floor stickers and signages on the hallways and common areas to guide customers on the one-way traffic.

To ensure continuous operations and help in flattening the curve, let us do our part by adhering to the aforementioned guidelines.

While Ayala Center Cebu is making sure to implement these guidelines for us to follow, they are also doing their best to keep us safe from the scare of this pandemic.

Ayala Center Cebu makes sure to:

  • Let their merchant employees wear PPEs / face masks accordingly
  • Conduct regular cleaning and disinfection on common areas of the mall
  • Install hand sanitizers and alcohol around the mall premises
  • Use transaction boxes for merchant cashiers
  • Activate automatic doors for entrances and exits
  • Installation of contact-less thermal scanners on selected entrances is also taken into consideration
  • UV Sterilizers will be installed in selected escalators

However, while we are all elated about the mall’s opening, the establishment is also keen on following the government’s guidelines.

Enlisted below are the restrictions and limitations of mall amenities and services under GCQ:

  • Closure of play area and entertainment concepts
  • Closure of cinemas
  • Closure of chapel
  • Closure of some mall entrances and restrooms
  • Non-availability of their customer lounge
  • Valet parking services are suspended
  • Mall’s free Wi-Fi will be disabled
  • Digital mall directions will be disabled
  • Mall’s airconditioning units will be set to only 26-degree Celsius

DriveBuys

For shoppers who want to order from the stores but don’t want to go inside, Ayala Center Cebu has installed pick-up stations (like a drive-thru) that will serve as a meeting place between the merchant and the customers.

How does it work?

  1. Customer and merchant must coordinate directly on the order and payment.
  2. Both parties should agree on the date and time to meet at the chosen station.
  3. Items will then be loaded directly into the customer’s car. Cashless payment is encouraged.

Pick-up stations:

  • 1&2 – near Breadtalk, Active Zone
  • 3&4 – near Laguna Garden, Biliran Road
  • 5&6 – near Torque Lounge, Cardinal Rosales
