To the selenophiles, we’ve got
great news for you!
The full worm moon, the first supermoon of 2020, has got to be one of the largest and brightest occurring this year. The super moon is expected to be at its best form at 1:48 AM on Tuesday, March 10. It starts at 5:30PM of March 9, 2020.
According to the study, a
supermoon occurs when the full moon is closest to the Earth in its elliptical
orbit, making it appear brighter and larger than the normal.
Much more than this weekend’s
super snow moon, expect more of these on April and May.

Exotic – something out of the ordinary,
seemingly unusual, even bizarre but when you say exotic food, Cebuanos have a
fair share of exotic dishes.
One of these is a definite must-try–
“tuslob buwa”.
Tuslob buwa is a delicious dish made out of pig’s brain, pork liver or pork intestines. To add flavor to this exciting food, you must spice it with other seasonings, oil, onions and soy sauce. It was popularized in Brgy. Pasil and Brgy. Ermita, but currently it has sprung up like mushrooms.
So if you’re a Cebuano
or just a curious food junkie, this list is, without question, one for you.
1. TUSLOB BUWA SA PASIL
Pasil is indeed the
birth place of tuslob buwa. During the weekdays, students flock the tuslob buwa
kiosks and in the weekends, everyone enjoys the food stands in the strip.
More or less, the whole
place is filled with delicious and varied array of this exotic dish, many of
which are already pre-made waiting for you to dip in the scrumptious bubbles or
you can just cook it yourself.

2. AZUL TUSLOB BUWA
Even after the
popularity of Tuslob Buwa, Azul’s Tuslob Buwa is the first and only food place
that explores the possibility of turning this dish to a mainstream resto bar.
In Azul’s, you’ll be able to enjoy a generous serving of the dish to be cook
all by yourself. What an experience, right?
Price:
PHP250 for 2 people
PHP50 for a pint of beer
Opening hours: 24/7
Location: Gorordo Avenue, Kamputhaw, Cebu City
3. FREE TUSLOB BUWA SA PARDO
Apart from the strip in
Pasil, tuslob buwa explores its way to the south of the city – in Pardo. Unlike
the one’s in Pasil, the distinct flavor of Pardo’s tuslob buwa stands out.
To compare, Pardo’s tuslob buwa is a hybrid of the ones in Pasil since its roots come from Pasil. What’s more to enjoy is that it’s FREE. You’ll only pay for your puso or hanging rice and the rest of tuslob buwa is for you to enjoy.
4. Tuslob Buwa at The Grid
The Grid, a known food park in Talamban, also houses a Tuslob Buwa store that offers the same, distinct taste as the original in Pasil. They also offer other local street food like ngohiong, siomai, ginabot, among others.
Operating hours: 7AM, but some food stalls open at 11AM, until 2-3AM (the next day) daily
Contact number: 0917-150-0770

5. Street Food at Ayala Center Cebu
Almost all favorite Filipino street food can be found here at the newest “mini” food park at Ayala Center Cebu, including the well-loved Tuslob Buwa.

Cebu and its surrounding islands always have abundant marine riches. This is why seafood has always been a big part of our lives. I can’t imagine not indulging myself on those freshly caught fish and mouth-watering shells of all kinds.

Tuslob Buwa is indeed a different taste of bubbles.
A popular streetfood in Cebu, “Tuslob Buwa” is believed to originate in Brgy. Pasil where residents find it as their daily source of income.
On Tuesday morning, Netizens woke up to the news that “Tuslob Buwa” is now a registered trademark through the Intellectual Property of the Philippines by Azul. This trademark means that any unauthorized use of the word, phrase or logo is against the law.
Azul is one of the popular eateries in Cebu that offer this famous street food, and even got more popular after being featured on Netflix’s Street Food Asia.
Basically, Tuslob Buwa (to dip into bubbles) is composed of pig brain, pork liver or intestines (can be optional), onions, oil, soy sauce or fish sauce, and other assorted seasonings. All of these ingredients will be put together in a pan until it boils. This will be best served with your puso (hanging rice) that will be dip into the pan, as its name suggests. It is economical since you only get to pay for the puso you consumed.
A visit to the country’s oldest city, Cebu, would never be complete without trying the original Cebu delicacies and dishes that will surely leave its visitors wanting more. One of the city’s famous food is ‘ginabot’, a kind of street food which Cebuanos take a lot of pride in.
With Cebu constantly developing, it resulted to the opening of several ‘pungko-pungko’ places. So, don’t worry if you’re living from the island of Mactan because finally, there’s one (and hopefully more to come).
Officially opened last November 2019, “Ginabutan sa Mactan” has been a go-to place for those who crave the palatable dish of chicharon bulaklak. Since then, it has always been packed with customers.
Now, what is this crispy dish made of? ‘Ginabot’ or chicharon bulaklak is made of deep-fried pig intestines. It tastes better when dipped in spicy vinegar with lots of sliced white onions (you’re lucky if you’re an onion lover like me because they serve them with no limits) and paired with carbonated drinks or beer.
This crunchy and delicious food is often found in a
place called “pungko-pungko” where a variety of dishes like, fried porkchop,
lumpia, ngohiong, and a whole lot more are being sold. If you’ve been staying
in Cebu for quite a while, I’m pretty sure you’ve heard of this place.
What are you waiting for, mga Oponganons? Have a
taste of the crunchy porn crackling!

Be as fresh as the produce when
you go shopping at Cebu’s famous market.
Whenever one hears the word
“market,” the strong, foul smell from the raw produce is what comes
to mind. Covering their noses and walking uncomfortably is like a normal sight
when you are in the market.
However, despite the common
notion of markets in the country, Cebu has got to stand out because of one
famous, and newly renovated ‘market’. A stay at the Queen City of the South is
incomplete without a Taboan Market visit.
Taboan Market, considered to be
Cebu’s ultimate pasalubong center and local market is one of the busiest and
most crowded market in Cebu City.
Because of its famous danggit
(dried fish), dried squid, shredded squid, among others is one of the reasons
why Taboan Market is a must-visit for the travellers.
Dried seafood are not the only
goods you can buy at Taboan, you can also choose from the wide array of Cebuano
delicacies for pasalubongs to your loved ones.
Instead of buying from malls, you
can visit Taboan because their goods are definitely sold at cheaper prices and
if you’re good at haggling, you can score really good prices for your goods.
There are also:
fruits & vegetables
freshly caught seafoods
freshly cut meat
We highly recommend you wear your
most comfortable clothes because a shower after your every visit is a must.
Nonetheless, you will be surprised with the joy you will feel with your scores.
HOW TO GET THERE?
BY JEEPNEY: From Colon, take an Alumnos-bound jeepney (08F and 08G) and ask the driver to drop you off Taboan Market. From the jeepney’s drop-off pointm take a trysikad (bicycle) to Taboan Proper.
BY CAR/GRAB/TAXI: Navigate with Waze or Google Maps and set your destination to “Taboan Market”. Limited parking space is available.
