If you’re staying in Cebu, there’s a high chance you’ve heard of one or two waterfalls by now. We’d be more surprised if you haven’t, because amazingly, there are more than 100 waterfalls in Cebu province!
And every year it seems like dozens more are surfacing and getting discovered. Let’s add another to the growing list, shall we?
Enter Sinungkulan Falls of Pinamungajan! You might know of its neighbors like the tucked-away Udlom Falls and the semi-concealed Busagak Falls, but Sinungkulan Falls deserves its very own highlight.

In the sleepy mountain barangay of Lamac is the peaceful waterfall. Its setting is serene and invites quiet introspection, which are characteristics unique to smaller waterfalls.
Nothing is quite as relaxing as lounging by a natural wonder while soaking in the cool forest air and listening to birdsong. Sinungkulan falls also happens to be an ideal spot for birdwatchers looking to observe some of the indigenous bird species of Cebu.
Located just under 2 hours from Cebu City, Sinungkulan is a gift to those seeking a quick break and some peace of mind. The crashing – but not quite roaring – water makes a soothing white noise that will capture you into a relaxing trance.
If you’re looking for an extended vacation, the Sinungkulan falls is also close to Kamangon Cave and the Hidden Valley Wave Pool and Mountain Resort, other wonders definitely worth visiting in Pinamungajan.

For someone who is into DIYs, you probably know how versatile a cardboard could be. If you have a lot of it in your storage, might as well make use of it and earn from it.
Apart from being a storage for your things, cardboards are also of great alternative to plastics. Which is a perfect way to protect our common home.
However, much more than the aforementioned, cardboard could also be used in sculptures.
This has been proven by the 29-year old Japanese artist Monami Ohno who have turned a plain cardboard to something beautiful.

To what started as her homework 10 years ago, Ohno has turned her college assignment to a full-time gig. She has her works displayed in galleries across Japan. Not to mention, art galleries abroad.
Her artworks scream pop-culture which would allow those who will look closely to be more amazed with its details.
“When I first tried folding the paper, gluing, and putting them together, the people around me praised me, saying things like ‘Wow, you can make this’,” Ohno said. “That made me so happy that I have continued doing this until now.”
Her process is not unusual. Just like the others, she starts with sketching, cutting, and molding it using water and glue.
“I make the things I would really like to decorate my house with,” she said.

To what were only meant to decorate her humble abode, these turned out to be commissioned works. Every piece sells anywhere between US$909 (¥100,000) and US$13,640 (¥1.5 million), depending on size and design complexity.
Much more than its beauty, a message for the environment is also lying in every artwork.
“Eventually if it makes that point, it would be nice if people can see my work, which is made out of cardboard and recycled materials rather than plastics, and realize that there are these kinds of people who are involved in recycling.”
Lapu-Lapu City is no doubt a large economic hub in Cebu province. The city, part of Mactan Island, is a fast-growing city with plenty of economic opportunities. Not only is it home to world-class resorts and beaches, it’s also a hotspot for export processing, manufacturing, and plenty of residential spaces.
As of the 2020 census, it has a population of nearly 500,000 people. Additionally, Lapu-Lapu City is closely packed with a population density of 8,600 persons per square-kilometer. Neighboring Cebu City has only 3,061/km2.
With all this said, Lapu-Lapu City is a city that is always growing and developing. One of the biggest developments to date is the 128-hectare Lapu-Lapu City Socialized Housing and Urban Development Project in Barangay Canjulao.
This ₱3.7 billion project is aimed to create a “city” within the city. It is envisioned to be a socialized housing project integrated with industrial and commercial sections. This project is a joint venture of the city government and Premium Megastructures Inc. (PMI).

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan and PMI president Francis Lloyd Chua signed the agreement at the Liberty Shrine in Brgy. Mactan last June 2021. It was declared that the impressive development of 128 hectares of land in Barangay Canjulao will be at no cost to the city.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place shortly after the signing of the agreement.

Mayor Chan explained that 25 out of the 128 hectares of land will be allocated for the socialized housing, while the rest of the area will be used for industrial and commercial ventures. All in all, the project will further boost economy and will benefit 3,000 residents.
This project is a realization of a City Council resolution passed in May 2021, which authorized Mayor Chan to enter into an agreement with PMI.
This City Council resolution states that on March 26, 2003, former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo issued Proclamation No. 346. Within the proclamation, she reserved a 25.24-hectare parcel of land in Canjulao for urban development and socialized housing site purposes.

Bantayan Island is a paradise as it has proven so many times by having the most beautiful beaches, perfect escape spots and mouthwatering seafood.
But did you know that there is a delicacy that is only found here in the island and nowhere else?
It is familiar and famous to every Bantayanon in all its three municipalities but outside the island people see this food as an alien with its odd-looking shape and suspicious origin.
Everyone, let me introduce you to “Taguangkan”, it comes from the word tágù and anak which is roughly translated as womb, especially of animals. They are from the chicken’s womb/ovary where the egg is formed.

It is grilled with the chicken large intestine wrapped and twisted in a stick with big a round mass in the inside as its top. The round mass is actually undeveloped egg/s of the hen. It may look weird and strange at first but once tasted, it actually tastes like normal, unsalted grilled eggs.
Bantayan island has lots of poultry farms and supplies a huge number of egg and chicken meat locally and in nearby islands including Cebu which is why this is abundant in the area.

The island has always been a bit separated from the fast pace of the neighboring cities and have it as a common practice to make use of anything and everything. A habit of a no “wasted” policy is also practiced in our food as well. Cooking fish bones and almost everything you’ll find in the sea and even in poultry, as long as it can be eaten, there will be no part left behind.
Your trip to Bantayan will never be complete unless you’ve tasted this one-of-a-kind delicacy. A little note though, the outer part is a little bit on the hard side so chew carefully. A protein boost like no other is what you need after a whole day of swimming and island wandering.
With the boom of K-Pop and K-Drama in the Philippines, South Korea seems like just a nearby neighbor now.
But did you know that your favorite oppas, noonas, and stans see Cebu as one of their go-to vacation spots in the Philippines?
Yes, Korean actors and singers have regularly visited our country for holidays. Some of the times we were made aware of their arrival but often we would just be surprised to see uploaded photos or statements and videos of them talking about how they enjoyed their trips.
With Cebu having almost every tourist attraction, you seek just a few minutes/hours away from each other, it’s no wonder they chose it. The island also has the best beaches, resorts, water activities, and nature adventures which is what Koreans tend to enjoy during their vacations.
We have here a list of Korean celebrities who have visited Cebu and what they did just to casually inform you on where to hangout after the pandemic to have that unexpected but totally planned meet with your idols.
1. Park Hyung-sik

Before starting his military service last June 2019, Park Hyungsik had a fan meeting at the Mall of Asia Arena and then proceeded to spent 3 days in Cebu for a holiday. He was known for his role in “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon”. He was here for 3 days as posted by Easy Dive Resort in Cebu. His 3 days full of activities like diving and open ocean swimming.
Hyungsik also uploaded photos of his diving adventure in his personal Instagram and even quoted one with “A place like heaven for me” in Korean.
2. Park Bo-Gum
Photo from hancinema.net website
In 2016, he was here in Cebu with some of his “Love in the Moonlight” castmates for a reward vacation to celebrate the success of their series which ranked first among Korean dramas in a list by the Korea Institute of Corporate Reputation.
He even posed together with Kwak Dong-Yeon where they sat on the edge of a boat in the sea. They enjoyed Cebu for five long days. Bo-Gum even mentioned that snorkeling in Cebu remains in his memory after years of his last visit.
3. Lee Min Ho
Photo from koreaboo.com website
He has been to the Philippines 5 times so it’s no wonder that he has explored Cebu as well.
We’ve known and loved him for his portrayal of Gu Jun Pyo in “Boys Over Flowers” and every drama he has been a part of since then.
He was in SM Seaside City Cebu wearing an “ANNYEONG Cebuanos,” orange T-shirt to promote Bench. According to him, he will never get tired of coming to the Philippines and that it’s his first time in Cebu and then wondered to himself why it took so long for him to make his way down here.
He might have took a short vacation after that or came back to Cebu as there are pictures of him lying on a boat and of diving beaches in Cebu.
4. Cha Eun-Woo, Im Soo-Hyang & Kwak Dong-Yeon

These three and some of the cast of “My ID is Gangnam beauty” including Jo Woo-Ri, Min Do-Hee, Park Yoo-Na, Jung Seung-Hye, Kim Do-Yeon and Lee Tae-Sun came to cebu as a reward vacation to celebrate the success of their series. As it was a group vacation, they had fun at the beautiful beaches and resorts.
“It’s Okay to not be Okay” and “Vincenzo” star Kwak Dong-yeon have also visited Cebu twice, both as a celebratory vacation with his co-stars in “Love in the Moonlight” and here with “My ID is Gangnam Beauty”. Together with Kim Do-Yeon and Lee Tae-Sun, they took a stroll in Ayala Mall grounds wearing white shirts that says Cebu.

Two of the most recognizable names of kpop idols were in Cebu together. SHINee’s baby Taemin and Exo’s Kai came to Cebu with their famous group of Kpop friends called “The padding squad” in 2019.
The group is made up of Wanna One’s Ha Sungwoon, VIXX’s Ravi, SHINee’s Taemin EXO’s Kai, and HOTSHOT’s Timoteo.
They made the best of their trip by trying out all the marine activities and lounging about on the beach. They were seen going snorkeling, diving, cliff-diving and even canyoneering in Kawasan Falls.
Kai also explored the cultural side of Cebu by visiting Fort San Pedro, Magellans Cross, generally the area in Cebu port where he could have also seen a lot of historical churches as well.
