Wanting to be famous on social media is okay. Wanting to get attention and traffic to your social media pages isn’t wrong. But posting on social media for clout? Then you can kiss the “fame” goodbye and hug “infamy” hello.
Photo from Unsplash
In this day and age, people use the power of social media to be noticed; however, some become so desperate that they result in dangerous or degrading acts. Can we go back to when posting on social media was meant for fun and keeping memories? You know, before the term “clout chasing” came to be?
But what is clout chasing anyways? Let’s talk about it here.
Clout Chasing and Clout Chasers Explained
The word clout wasn’t always something negative. It simply meant “popularity,” but because of the immense power of social media, the word “clout” just got a whole new meaning.
Simply put, clout chasing now is the act of wanting to be famous; to do so, a person tries even more dangerous and foolish ways to get attention. Now, clout chasers are people who do the act of clout chasing. There are so many instances where people were clout chasing or branded as clout chasers online.

To set an example, Two brothers were called out for doing a fake kidnapping prank just for views. Unlucky for them, an off-duty police officer was actually on the scene. Oh, they got the views and attention they wanted, just not the way they hoped.
Another form of clout chasing is talking ill about another person online. Some clout chasers will post nasty things about other people just to make themselves feel and look good.
Calling Out vs. Clout Chasing
If a person did you wrong and still has not addressed the issue, then calling them out is justifiable. However, posting about a person and talking about them online, even if they have settled the matter privately and apologized, is already adding fuel to the fire.
Photo from Unsplash
Here’s a new saying: “Some things are better left unpublished.” If the issue can be settled privately, then that’s healthier. Calling out is okay, but do it responsibly.
Is Clout Chasing dangerous?
No fame in the world is worth risking your life and dignity for. Clout chasing can be dangerous once people put themselves or others in harm’s way. If you want to get noticed on social media, do it safely and responsibly. You can bring yourself up without bringing other people down. You can get attention and traffic to your social media account without putting yourself in dangerous and controversial situations.

Final Word
As stated before, there is nothing wrong with wanting a little fame. All that matters is what you do and how you execute your journey to stardom and success. Social media either makes you or breaks you; it’s up to you to decide which of the two you truly desire. So be famous; just don’t be problematic.

Have you been using your Gmail accounts as of late? You should if you wish to keep them active!
Google accounts with two years of inactivity will be deleted, and the deletion process will commence December 2023 in phases, starting with accounts that were created but never deleted before they move on to those that have two or more years of inactivity.
Photo from Unsplash
The policy will only apply to personal Gmail addresses and its contents including those inside of Google Workspace and Google Photos. However, users will receive multiple notifications to their emails and recovery emails (should the user have any).
This was done for security measures as the company observed that accounts that have been untouched are more susceptible to being compromised, and Google believes that the best way to not put the data of users at risk is by deleting them. However, Google won’t be touching email addresses and the contents that have been created under organizations and schools.
Google made it clear that this policy limits the period of time that Google holds users’ unused personal information and is consistent with standard practices for account termination and retention.
Here are some ways you can keep your Gmail active

If you wish to keep your Gmail account, you can take these actions often to let Google know that your account is still intact.
Watch YouTube videos
Using Google search
Using Google Drive
Reading and sending emails
Using “Sign in with Google”
The key to maintaining your Google account and avoiding deletion is to keep it active and use it frequently. You retain control over the priceless resources and services linked to your account by being active in using it.

In the first place, regular use guarantees that you stay connected to your unique email account, enabling continuous communication with contacts on both a personal and professional level.
Has the founder of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk finally found someone “foolish enough to take the job”?
Over six months after Elon Musk’s controversial takeover of Twitter, the American business magnate introduced NBCUniversal advertising executive Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of the platform a few days ago on May 12, 2023.
Photo from Linda Yaccarino
In the same tweet Musk made the revelation, he remarked that Yaccarino’s job as CEO is to manage the business operations of the application, whilst he is responsible for the social media’s technology and product design.
But who really is Linda Yaccarino, and what could have made Musk make this decision?
Let’s step back for a moment – why exactly is Musk hiring a CEO?
After facing a lot of backlash from users who were not liking the way he was running things, Musk proceeded to post a poll on Twitter on December 18 last year 2022, to which over 17.5 million people responded.
I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter!@LindaYacc will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology.
Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app. https://t.co/TiSJtTWuky
Musk’s survey asked if he should step down as head of Twitter, with the promise that he would abide by the results. The majority of respondents demanded that Musk indeed resign because of his apparent crazy leadership style. Two days later, Musk announced that he would do so “as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software and servers teams.”
For quite some time, Musk didn’t seem to be taking the prospect seriously.
Linda Yaccarino and her deal
Media executive Linda Yaccarino is well-known and has held a number of prominent positions in the sector. She has long been in charge of managing client relationships and advertising sales for businesses’ full media platform portfolios, including social media, digital, and television.
She is well-known in the business for her leadership, innovation, and contributions to the media landscape thanks to her illustrious career in media and advertising.
Photo from Linda Yaccarino
In terms of her relationship with Musk, prior to his acquisition of Twitter, Yaccarino had not interacted with him in public very often, although she has been a supporter of the Twitter 2.0 era. She did, however, hold a keynote talk with Musk at a marketing association event in Miami, agreeing that “this freedom of speech deserves a bit more reach.”
The day before it took place, Yaccarino praised Musk’s interview with Bill Maher about the “woke mind virus,” liked a number of Musk tweets about topics like the highly anticipated X app, and seemed encouraged by Twitter’s announcement that it would provide “more transparency to the enforcement actions we take on Tweets.”
Will Yaccarino be a good captain of a sinking ship?
Twitter has greatly plummeted over the past few months. Followed by hundreds of employees quitting less than a week before he took over, advertisers also backed out from using the platform because of the changes that have been implemented by Musk.
To many, Twitter is a drowning corporation – but will Yaccarino save it from its demise?
It is too early to tell, but making advertisers, who previously accounted for approximately 90% of Twitter’s revenue, feel enthusiastic about the firm again is the company’s immediate task and it would be quite challenging to find someone better than Yaccarino on this front, considering her professional background.
Photo from Forbes
The decision to make Linda Yaccarino in charge of Twitter as its new CEO was arguably a risky one, and the organization should be moving in a new path under her management.
Although she has a good record in the media and advertising sectors, it is still unclear if she will be able to lead and transform Twitter. A new set of talents, including knowledge of technology, product development, and social media platforms, would be needed for the position.
It is also important to keep in mind that choosing a CEO is a difficult process that takes into account a variety of elements, such as the objectives, culture, and strategic priorities of the company as a whole.

We can only wait and see if Yaccarino succeeds in reviving Twitter and returning it to its former glory, but let us hold out hope that she will.

Unripe Mangoes + Bagoong (shrimp paste) = a match made in heaven!
Filipinos love pairing something sour with something salty, sweet, or both, and one of them is pairing unripe mangoes with shrimp paste or bagoong. Sour and salty or even sweet battling their place on our tastebuds is such a delight.
Photo from JandM Main Branch Facebook Page
Just this month, a stall in Cebu went viral for selling Mangoong, JandM Main Branch. They place mango slices inside a jar, mix in a thick ladleful of bagoong, and shake it around to coat each mango slice evenly with the paste. Then, the Mangoong is placed inside a tub or a cup and even slathered generously with another scoop of bagoong.
The shop has different types of bagoong, and they even serve fruit platters with shrimp paste on the side. You can even choose to have santol, unripe papaya, pomelo, and more, instead of just mangoes.
The stall has three locations. There is one in Banawa, in Opon Mercado, and Tabok Mandaue.
Just writing about this is making me crave, brb! Getting myself a Mangoong.

There are many ways for a person to lose weight, but let’s face it, not all of it is safe. As a result, people have become skeptical of trending diet and weight loss plans, one of which is intermittent fasting (IF).
Photo from Unsplash
Many people have been saying that intermittent fasting worked for them, but most didn’t explain what IF is and how to do it. So in this write-up, we’re going to talk about precisely that.
Intermittent fasting explained
Intermittent fasting is a kind of weight loss plan that is about “when” to eat. From the name itself, you fast and eat at a specific time or eat meals on specific days in a week. With intermittent fasting, the body drains all the sugar the body stores and burns fat instead. This is because the fasting part allows our body to go without food for hours.
There are different types of intermittent fasting; 16/8 fasting, 5:2 approach, and 72-hour fasting periods.
Photo from Unsplash
The 16/8 stands for 16 hours of fasting and an 8-hour eating window. Let’s say you start eating at 10 AM and end at 6 PM. From 10 AM to 6 PM, that’s your eating window. Once it goes beyond 6 PM, that’s when your fasting starts. 6 PM to 10 AM completes the 16-hour fasting. This method of IF is done daily.
Next, we have the 5:2 approach. You eat regularly for five days in a week, and for the other two days, you eat only one 500-600 calorie meal.
The 72-hour fasting is not advised since it can be dangerous. In addition, going too long without food will force your body to store more fat than burn it.
What to eat while doing IF?
Some people think that because they are doing intermittent fasting, they can gobble up tons of food; if you eat junk foods on your eating window, it’s not really going to make you lose weight. Eating nutritious food is still the best option.

You can drink water, black coffee, and tea during your fasting hours.
Pros and Cons of Intermittent Fasting
Like other weight loss methods, it’s important to consider the Pros and Cons of IF.
Pros:
Aids in Memory
Heart Health
Physical Performance
Helps with Type 2 diabetes and obesity
Photo from Unsplash
Cons:
Hunger and fatigue (especially for first-timers).
It may cause unhealthy relationships with food
It is not advisable for people on medication.

Now that you know about intermittent fasting, it’s still a good idea to consult a nutritionist before jumping in on it. Like other dieting methods, IF may or may not work for you.
