Cebu Eats: The Market by Sugbo Mercado in Mandaue City

2
themarketbysugbomercado

The newest go-to food market in Mandaue City has finally opened!

As a treat after a highly successful 3-year run since its launch in 2015 in IT Park, The Market by Sugbo Mercado is a collective of 25 container vans in a two-level, curated set up. It is the first and the biggest container van food park in Cebu.

This is also the Sugbo Mercado Group’s entry into the North Cebu territory and a regular six-day operation to accommodate the residents from northern Cebu and save them from the city traffic and limited parking space in IT Park. So they don’t have to go too far to hang out with family or friends over good food.

With its grand launching on August 3, 2018, The Market by Sugbo Mercado is open from Tuesdays to Sundays, 5PM- 1AM. It will feature a number of the flagship’s anchor brands as well as entirely new and exciting concepts.

How to prepare for the Greatest Road Trips in Cebu

0
roadtrip-cebu

One of the best benefits when living in Cebu is the proximity and easy access from one unique destination to another. Only requiring a few hour drive or land trip and a little more patience with Metro Cebu’s traffic, you will gain access to Cebu’s undeniably beautiful attractions from the white beaches and lush green scenery in mountainous areas to the hundreds of amazing hotels and resorts surrounding the island and many more. No wonder Cebu is the perfect place for any road trips.

Planning a road trip can be pretty much overwhelming, especially if it’s your first-time, but is surely worth it whether you’re traveling in the northern or southern part of Cebu. Here are a few tips on how to make your first road trip fun and worry-free.

1. Pick your trip.

Don’t think about it too much. Just know what to do, where to go, and how to get there.

Know your destination, at least the route/s.

Sure, spontaneous is fun, but be realistic about the distance and possible road conditions.

If you’re heading to the western part of Cebu (Busay-Balamban, Toledo), these are uphills and some roads are steep. Hence, you need to make sure your car is comfortably able to take higher grounds, or at least the car is not overloading.

Install Waze or Google Maps on your phone. Know in advance about the apps’ offline mode in case of loss of signal.

Check the weather.

Weather is another factor to plan for. If you are driving into the mountains where roads are slippery, remember to plan for the weather along the drive accordingly.

Suggested Routes:

1. West: Busay – Balamban

2. North: Carmen – Bogo – Medellin – Daanbantayan

3. South: Alcoy – Badian – Oslob

2. Budget your trip.

– How many people are joining you?
– How long is the drive? Or how much time have you allocated?
– Do you plan to stay in a resort or traveler’s inn for a night?

Your answers will help you figure out how much to spend on the meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks in between – including some ice cream and desserts during side trips) and budget the whole trip well.

3. Bring an emergency kit, food and some “extras”.

You can never be too prepared especially when journeying to unfamiliar places. Bring a portable inflator in case you get a flat tire.

Also bring some extras including, but not limited to: power banks, warm clothes and blankets, extra underwear, food and water, a flashlight, lighters, and anything else that could help save your life should you be stranded in cold weather on the side of the road.

It is not about being paranoid, but it is about being smart, safe and prepared.

ceburoadtrip3

4. The Trip should start the day before.

Ensure that you and your car are in tip-top condition. You and your car are the most important part in making your road trip fun and safe.

Rest is important. Get enough sleep the night before the long drive. Wear comfortable clothes (and even shoes), maintain a good posture while driving, and take frequent stops to rest and stretch.

More importantly, give yourself and your passengers peace of mind by having your car checked before the trip. Remember to inspect your car’s brakes, lights, water, battery, air, gas, engine, and oil to give you the best performance on the road.

Stick by the rules. Once on the road, basic driving rules should always be kept in mind. Follow all traffic rules and regulations, such as traffic lights and speed limits. Remember to always wear a seatbelt while on the road.

OOTD Spots You MUST See in Metro Cebu

0
cebu-ootd-spots

Regardless of the time, day or week, it’s impossible not to see #OOTD (Outfit of the Day) posts while scrolling through your feed on Facebook or Instagram. With a number of casual “fashionistas” in a world of outfit photo ops, figuring out how to pose can be a total hard work itself.

Finding the right spot? Now that’s tougher, especially if you’re totally feeling your look but you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere.

Luckily, our very own city – the Queen City of the South, offers a variety of places that can be the beautiful backdrops of your Instagram-worthy photos. Though there are hundreds of them, here are some of the top picks for you.

1. SM Seaside City Cebu’s Sky Park

“We’ve got it all for you!” – sounds familiar? Yes, it’s the famous tag line used by SM malls to induce people to come and visit. Well, I guess it’s true, besides from having a lot to offer – from restaurants, boutiques, groceries, shopping malls and a whole lot more, SM also made sure they got your back when it comes to showing off your outfits.

From its natural background and landscapes to its lighting, it’s really an ideal spot for photo shoots or even just showcasing your outfit. SM Seaside Sky Park is definitely a place for the young and the young at heart.

2. SM Seaside City Cebu’s 632 Gallery

The area is visibly covered in bright colours and loud prints, which can be a hip background for showing off your #OOTD.

SM Seaside just recently presented 632 Gallery to its valued customers. Located at the 3rd floor leading to the Sky Park, the gallery represents the senses as the underlying themes of the artists behind this very creative eye-popping nook.

Flaunt that beautiful outfit of yours now!

3. The Outlets at Pueblo Verde

Located at Pueblo Verde, Tamiya, Lapu-Lapu City – The Outlets became known for being coined as “Mactan’s complete commercial hub”. The district is complete with restaurants, coffee shops and some of the world’s most famous brands such as Nike, Adidas, etc. The Outlets also gained fame because of its Instagram-worthy areas which are perfect for your #OOTD photo ops.

4. Ayala Center Cebu’s The Terraces

Ayala Center Cebu, aside from giving its customers a complete list of stores to shop, dine and relax, it can also be a good spot for your #OOTD photos.

This garden and park themed mall with its beautifully made landscapes can totally be a perfect place to strike a pose.

5. Tops Lookout

Tops Lookout is one of the most famous tourist spots in Cebu because of its wonderful panoramic view during the day and the spectacular city lights at night. The overlooking place can be found in Barangay Malubog, Busay, Cebu City.

The main ground is made of concrete in hexagon form and Bermuda grass. The resting and eating area is also constructed by concrete stones and is designed in curves and circles.

Anywhere in Tops Lookout can be a very good spot for outfit photo ops because of its natural lighting and background.

Entrance fee: P100

6. SRP Baywalk

Upon entering Cebu City, SRP Baywalk is one of the most scenic routes when you’re coming from Cebu South. It features a row of benches facing the sea which is an ideal place to chill out and unwind.

And when you’re totally feeling like striking an OOTD pose, the cool wind blowing from the sea would help you achieve that blowing hair effect *winks*.

Lighting in this area is also perfect especially during the “Golden Hour”, hence, making your photo naturally beautiful.

7. SRP’s Sugbo Grounds

Plain walls work as a good backdrop for an outfit photo op, but stone walls work much better in a photo especially when you’re wearing a more colored outfit. So, thank God for Sugbo Grounds! The area is located just near the SRP Baywalk.

It also holds a definitive allure and attractive view making the site most enticing for those who wish to showcase their outfits.
