There are a lot of different ways to keep everyone productive inside their own abodes.

With the scare of COVID-19 pandemic, you are unexpectedly stuck at home, with nothing in mind. Fret not! We are all in the same boat. We are all stuck at home for an unexpected period of time.

Having said such, since you have reached this page you’re either too bored or you’re losing your resources. Whatever it may be, you’re just in the right page. Continue reading.

1. APPLY FOR AN ONLINE JOB

If you’ve been stuck at home for quite some time now and you’re almost running out of resources, there’s always a way around it.

Should you have access to a laptop or personal computer with internet access, you should consider applying for an online job. You could either apply as an online teacher, a freelance marketing manager, a freelance writer or graphic artist, or even a software engineer. Whatever it is, we all want to make the most out of our times, yes?

Websites you can consider:

2. BE PHYSICALLY ACTIVE

Let us all be reminded that there are plenty of exercises to do sans gym. You can even download some apps to help you in your fitness journey.

Remember, the best way to fight COVID-19 is to have a healthy lifestyle and what better way to be healthier than working out, right? So put your game faces on and hit that spot!

3. TIDY YOUR OWN HOME

If the last time you cleaned your abode was last month, girl, you gotta level up! We need to fight COVID-19 and we have to start in our own homes.

Get rid of the harmful dust, dirt, and germs so you’ll be dust-free and virus-free.

4. START GARDENING

More than saving bucks from the produce you could get from your garden, studies also say that gardening is good for our mental health. Gardening is said to help in treating depression and anxiety.

With the COVID-19 anxiety creeping into us, we know this could be a great alternative. Don’t worry, gardening doesn’t require you a big garden to plant, you could get a pot and start from there.

5. TAKE SOME REST

If you’re a busy bee like me, can you still recall the last time you took a nap in between work and class? Yes, barely.

After everything you’ve been doing for the day, you deserve some rest. Who doesn’t? We all deserve one of life’s greatest pleasures.

6. MEDITATE

Meditation is the art of doing nothing, which is pretty ironic since it changes everything. This is the time to heal your spirit and to find your inner peace.

Do a daily meditation and never cease praying for everyone’s safety.

7. READ A BOOK / AN ARTICLE

If you have a lot of archived books on your shelves, now is the best time to flip those pages. Dust it off and you’ll be good to go.

You can read about your old books, or even read articles about this pandemic. You can read online articles about COVID-19 and how to prevent such pandemic. It pays to always be knowledgeable.

8. PLAY/BOND WITH FAM

If you’re with your family, you can play with your whole family, take out you board games. You can even play hide and seek with your nieces and nephews.

Have fun! Even though we’re facing a crisis, it is important to bond and enjoy staying indoors.

9. SPREAD AWARENESS

While you’re on your phones for social media, it is also better to spread authentic information about this pandemic.

Let us all use this time to help our fellows with the information we’ve scavenged through the internet. Let’s help save one another.

10. LEARN A SKILL

Now is the time to learn all those skills you’ve been planning to have even before the community quarantine. You can learn how to play the guitar, the piano or any instrument you want, learn to prepare home-cooked meals, learn another language, and many more skills.

Man converts old metal drum into a portable wash basin at Bus Stops

With the COVID-19 global scare, everyone is just as careful as everyone else.

From hoarding alcohol and hand sanitizers to panic buying groceries, it is without a doubt that this pandemic has struck us all in a bad way. Aside from the usual alcohol and hand sanitizers, we are all aware of how hand-washing could be of great help to each of us. Though alcohol and hand sanitizers come in handy, it is still advisable and economical to wash our hands with soap and water.

But, what if we are outdoors? What if we have no access to a sink?

Fret not because a man from Africa has been applauded by netizens for coming up with a brilliant idea to help his neighbors in his own simple ways.

The old man, believed to be from Mzansi, used an old metal drum and converted it into a smart, clean, and portable wash basin.

Like other netizens, we also believe that converting an old metal drum into clean wash basins could help in our combat against COVID-19.

We could only hope that everyone could take the initiative and pick up an inspiration or two from this old man that a trash could be our treasure too. May we be reminded to always wash our hands with soap and water at all times.

DOTr imposes “No Back-Rider” Policy

Department of Transportation (DOTr) implements “no backrider policy” for all motorcycles.

The aforementioned policy is in lieu to the Social Distancing and Community Quarantine implemented by the government. The “no back-rider policy” prohibits all motorcycle users, including private motorcycle users to have a back-rider.

“We have to take into context that the DOTr has made the move in a national perspective. Mao na siya nga ang motorcycle taxi, tanan gi-suspend. No back-rider policy was not issued for motorcycle taxis only. It applies to all,”

LTO-7 Regional Director Victor Caindec

Though backriders are prohibited, Secretary Michael L. Dino and Land Transportation Officer (LTO) 7 Regional Director Victor Caindec both agreed that family members should be allowed to back-ride as long as he/she is related to the driver of the motorcycle.

Should you be the husband/wife and son/daughter of the driver and both are living in the same household, you are allowed to be on the same motorcycle given that you present an Identification Card as proof.

We hope that even if immediate family members are allowed to ride the motorcycle, may we all be reminded that staying at the comforts of your home is still advised. Unless it is necessary to go out, please stay at home.

CebuDoc converts gym to a 24/7 Acute Respiratory Infection and Diarrhea (ARID) clinic

In this time of need, we Cebuanos should stand as one in the fight against the global pandemic, the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). We should all help out and reach out — a notion that the CebuDoc Group has proven true.

Aside from being one of the front-liners as a medical facility, Cebu Doctor’s University Hospital, a major tertiary private hospital in Cebu City, is converting its covered court into an ARID (Acute respiratory infection +- diarrhea) Clinic. It is open starting today, March 19, 2020 for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The ARID will be both a triage & holding area with industrial fans to provide comfort and ventilation. There will also be necessities like toilets & showers. This clinic will be far from their Emergency Room.

Nurses and MD’s will probably be assigned as ARID officers to man the clinic.  They should be able to do a quick initial screen and assessment to every patient. Stable conditions are to be sent home with proper instructions.

Patients that needs further examination, will be moved to isolation within the area.

“We created this just in case a massive outbreak happens. This are will cater to patients with Fever, Respiratory illnesses & Diarrhea. Ventilation as recommended by our Infectious Committee is very good with industrial & exhaust fans provided. Simple toilets & showers are available.”

– Dr. Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III, Chairman

Cebu Doc who had healthcare breakthroughs like the Center for Aesthetics and Laser, Center for Hyperbaric Medicine, Center for Dental Care and other developments advises everyone to remain calm, stay vigilant and take precautionary measures.

Consultation Barriers and back entrance/hallways have been created for the safety of our Doctors so they can continue the fight. if needs further examination or admission, cebudoc group has Isolation Centers around Cebu. This will be away from our Emergency Room or main hospital so we can avoid possible transmission of the virus.

This will be open 24 hours. I’d like to personally thank our staff who have been very brave in this battle against COVID-19 and also, the generous individuals/companies who have donated food, drinks, gloves, masks & suits.

Camotes, Bantayan and other Cebu islands trips to continue

Amidst shutting down the seaports in Cebu City for passenger vessels due to COVID-19 pandemic, boat trips from Camotes and Bantayan are still on-going with its operations.

During the press conference of Governor Gwendolyn Garcia on March 17, she clarified that only the passengers from other provinces are banned from entering Cebu.

“Ang atong kaugalingong island-municipalities or island-barangays are not covered kay Cebu man, para man ni pagprotehir sa mga Sugboanon,”

“Apan kon gikan na’s Leyte, covered na na,”

However, though passengers from its neighboring provinces are restricted to enter Cebu, cargoes carrying goods shall continue given that they pass the sanitary measures.

Regardless of not banning these operations, may we all be reminded of our daily task, to keep ourselves safe from this pandemic. Traveling can wait, so it is still safer to stay indoors unless necessary.
