Since
2016, mobile signal shutdown for Sinulog has been a practice.
For
the first time since then, there will be no mobile signal shutdown for Sinulog
2020. Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella says that keeping the signal would help
everyone in staying connected.
That,
at least, was the news that made the devotees ecstatic because meeting up with
friends wouldn’t be that much of a hassle.
However,
after confirming the visit of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for Sinulog 2020,
mobile signal shutdown might just happen again.
Police
Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon, director of the Police Regional Office in
Central Visayas, confirmed that President Duterte is indeed visiting Cebu.
Though no exact date was given, he assured everyone: “Darating siya.”
Hence, an order for a mobile signal shutdown in Metro Cebu may be possible.
Although
the dilemma of meeting our friends will be felt, we all have to understand that
prevention is better than cure. After all, more than reuniting with old
acquaintances and meeting new friends, everyone’s safety should still be our
utmost priority.
As
ambassadors of goodwill, we would like to remind everyone to always be safe and
may we always remember to keep our home, our city, clean and green.

Fortunate are those who have
witnessed the past eclipses in the Philippines. However, to those who haven’t,
fret no more because you are in for some late Christmas present.
An eclipse is an event where a
celestial body passes into the shadow of another body. Most common ones are the
Solar eclipse and Lunar eclipse which happens in the Eclipse season.
Luckily this 2020, in time for the launch of Sinulog 2020, we will be able to witness a “wolf moon” coinciding with a penumbral lunar eclipse.
PENUMBRAL LUNAR ECLIPSE
January 11, 2020 at 3:21AM (Peak)
During this Penumbral Lunar Eclipse, the Earth’s main shadow does not cover the Moon. As the Earth’s shadow (umbra) misses the Moon during a penumbral lunar eclipse, there are no other locations on Earth where the moon appears partially or totally eclipsed during this event.
A Penumbral Lunar Eclipse can be a bit hard to see as the shadowed part is only a little bit fainter than the rest of the Moon.
Penumbral Eclipse begins
1:07AM
Maximum Eclipse
3:21AM
Penumbral Eclipse ends
5:12AM
According to NASA, the moon will be at its fullest at 3:21AM (Manila time) on January 11, but the time at which the moon rises will depend on your location.
Watching this tomorrow? Take photos and tag @SugboPH on Facebook and Instagram so we can share them.
“Family”
may be a simple 6-letter word for some, but for us Filipinos, it means both our
strength and our kryptonite. Why? Simply because it is what makes us soft
despite looking so tough on the outside. We never hold back when it comes to
proving our love– may it be our friends, family, extended family, partners and
most especially, our furry friends.
Yes, our pets are undeniably part of our family ties. They are our source of happiness and relief when times get rough, so we also want what’s best for them – from food and hygiene up to their vaccination and medical attention.
However, it’s quite hard to find animal clinics these days that will surely treat our fur babies the way they deserve to be treated, that is why we have made a quick guide to some of the trusted veterinary clinics you can find in Metro Cebu.
1.
Caminade Animal Hospital
This
clinic is famous for its dedication to teach and help the owners understand the
importance of responsible pet ownership. Their groomers are well-trained and
handles their furry patients with utmost care.
AVCI aims
to provide high-quality veterinary services at a reasonable price. Their
laboratories support evidence-based vet practice and has customized vet
software per station.
Location:
68 J. Alcantara St., Sambag I, Cebu City (Main clinic)
Sombria, Lawaan I, Talisay City, Cebu (Talisay branch)
This
animal clinic garnered a lot of positive reviews due to its very efficient
system, very clean environment and accommodating staff. Also, a lot of the pet
owners loved how this clinic treat their furry friends.
5R Vet
Clinic started as a small pet shop which soon evolved into a clinic providing
basic animal services. Now, a lot of the pet owners have been trusting the
clinic for years due to its extreme show of care towards the pets.
Location: El Durado Subdivision, 1 A.S. Fortuna St., Cebu City
It seems like we would run out of excuses not to be able to complete the novena masses. Free Bus rides mga Cebuanos.
The difficulty of transportation to and from during the 9-day novena mass is as known as Sinulog itself. A great number of devotees flock right at the center of the busy streets of Colon, and navigating your way in and out of the crowd is already hard enough.
This challenge has made the Cebu City Sinulog Governing Board (SGB) to partner with SM Seaside for the free transportation of devotees to and from the mall.
“We really urge the devotees to park their cars in these malls then ride the bus to Basilica because this will reduce the car volumes in the area and lessen the traffic” – SGB.
We hope that this program of the SGB will be a success and that we all follow the rules and be cautious always for the safety of all.

It is high time we show the world
what Filipinos are capable of.
In a time when Filipinos tend to have put more importance to the foreign culture and things more than our own, Medellin in northern Cebu has showed the whole nation patriotism in its best way.
With an impregnable bayanihan spirit, 50 locals from Barangay Tindog in Medellin hand-carried their purok center to its permanent location beside their community stage.
This bayanihan spirit sets an
example for the rest of the municipalities on exhibiting an important part of
our rich culture.
Community Spirit, fondly called as bayanihan, is the ability to help one another without expecting for anything in return.
May this small act of bayanihan
ignite the fire in every single one of you to also help our fellows, especially
in time of adversity, without expecting for anything in return.
We, from Sugbo, being ambassadors of goodwill, are hoping for every one of us to help in keeping our rich culture alive by recognizing its value and importance.
