Tanduay
Distillers, Inc. and Absolut Distillers Inc. (ADI) of Lucio Tan Group are
now producing ethyl alcohol.
The
battle with the global pandemic, CoVID-19 have made every person scrambling for
alcohol. Though everyone needs it, it is crucial to the medical facilities to
have enough supply.
“The health of our front liners is essential in our fight against the spread of COVID-19,”
– Gerry Tee, ADI COO and gen manager of LT Group
The ethyl
alcohols produced were distributed to the DOH and other hospitals. Tanduay
donated a total of 20,000 liters to DOH, and another 20,000 liters NGOs for
distribution in medical facilities.
“During these challenging times, it’s important that we step up and help each other. We have transformed our distilleries to produce ethyl alcohol to supply the need of our kababayans. From Luzon, we aim to deliver next to Visayas and Mindanao,”
COVID-19 Cebu
As the threat of the Coronavirus 2019 or COVID-19 rises every day, the Cebu province has taken a proactive approach and is pulling all stops in protecting the island. Here’s everything you need to know about COVID-19 and its symptoms: https://sugbo.ph/2020/corona-virus-in-cebu/
With this, an Executive Order was issued for the implementation of the drastic but necessary measures to avoid the spread of the virus. For more information, head on to: https://sugbo.ph/2020/cebu-implements-drastic-measures/
If you are sick and think you have symptoms of COVID-19, seek medical attention, call the local Coronavirus Health Information Line for advice: 0922-397-2334 / 0943-568-3298 / (032) 402-3091 / (032) 402-1269.
In line with the city’s implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine, suspension of public transportation is one of the policies to follow.
With this, some people – especially the frontliners and those who are still working – may find commuting really hard. Worse, some even walk for at least 30 minutes just to get to their destination.
In partnership with SM Prime’s MyBus service, the Cebu City Government addresses this rising concern by providing FREE BUS RIDES from Cebu City going to north (up to Talamban) and south (up to Starmall), and vice versa.
According to Cebu City Councilor Joel Capili Garganera, an initial 40 Cebu City Bus and MyBus are now being deployed for FREE to 20 different routes in the City, each bus will be assigned 1 PROBE member to implement social distancing
If you’re someone like me who eats Samgyupsal at least once a week (pre-Coronavirus quarantine period), this is definitely a good news for us!
Romantic Baboy, one of the most popular Samgyeopsal restaurants in Cebu and Manila, opens its delivery service for your Samgyup cravings. This means, you can order over-the-phone their best-tasting meats — from the Herb Samgyupsal, to the Woo Samgyup.
Ever since the entire country mandated
everyone to stay at their homes as an effort to contain COVID-19, most of us
had definitely made checking social media more a routine. That includes
checking real time news as well regarding any updates about the contagious
virus. Sadly, not everyone is mentally tough to handle the stress and anxiety
brought by this global tragedy. Thus, here are some helpful exercises how to
manage those worries away.
1. Acknowledge your emotions.
With all that’s happening
around the world, acknowledging these overwhelming emotions is already half the
battle. Allowing these emotions to flow through you is a big help in managing
your stress.
2. Write down your fears and hopes.
Knowing that your fellow
poverty-stricken countrymen are in a dire situation, feelings of remorse and
helplessness will come, leaving you stressed. One of the best thing you can do
is to scribble these thoughts. Writing these fears, hopes, and all these mixed
emotions, make them valid and concrete, in a way.
3. Talk to someone.
While home quarantine is
imposed as a safety measure, making use of social media by reaching out to your
loved ones is vital. If you’re one of the strong ones, then letting your
friends know that you’re there for them is more than just doing your part in
our war against this disease.
4. Meditate.
I read a book about the
wonders of meditating and ever since, I started spending five minutes after
waking up to meditate. I try to think of the things I’m thankful for and clear
my head. With what’s happening today, setting a positive mindset is crucial.
Apps are also readily available such as Headspace,
Calm and Insight Timer to get you started.
5. Do grounding exercises
Grounding exercises are
mental exercises you can do to bring yourself into contact with the present
moment. This includes daily activities we take for granted such as taking a
walk or savoring the food we eat.
6. Write down what you’re grateful for
As an exercise, try to
write five things you are grateful for every time you wake up. As much as
possible, make it specific to the day like learning how to cook, watched that
show you always wanted to watch, or even as simple as being in a home during
this quarantine. Train your mind to always see the good amidst chaos.
Times like these, it is very important that we know how to manage such emotions. When we let such emotions go off the rails, panic would surely ensue, and panic is not a good start when it comes to making sound decisions. Always stay healthy, not just physically, but mentally too!

The world is fighting together against the spread of CoVID-19. Every country, down to the local government units and the citizens, works on their own ways and strategies to combat the pandemic. And the Cebuanos are shining in times of pandemic.
After a fellow Cebuano develop a mobile app to help trace locations of CoVID-19 PUMs or PUIs, comes another heartwarming news of a team of Cebuanos setting up disinfectant-spraying booths, also known as the SunnyTation Tents, for the public and private hospitals in Cebu, major public spaces, and vulnerable communities.
The SunnyTation Tent is a chamber installed with a sprinkler system that mists out a disinfectant solution for individuals prior to entering a public space.
The first Sunnytation has been recently installed at Chong Hua Hospital – Mandaue. Meanwhile, the first batch of ‘Sunnytations’ will be rolled out in selected hospitals in Cebu, supermarkets, pubic markets, pharmacies, PUV terminals, and BPO offices.

If you think you
have given thanks to all the frontliners, you’re almost right.
You probably have
said your thanks to the nurses, doctors, security guards, janitors,
salespeople, policemen, armies, and etc., but you must’ve failed to include our
fur frontliner.
Yes, a furbaby has
been working hand-in-hand with our medical frontliners in our battle against
the pandemic COVID-19.
A dog named Wynn
has been braving the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Wynn, a service dog
working side-by-side Dr. Susan, an ER doctor, has been comforting our medical
frontliners.
“Wynn goes to the ER each day and stays within the social workers’ inner office, so no one touches her but staff can wash up and have a moment with her,”
Wynn has been
saving our medical frontliners by comforting them after a tiring day saving
lives.
May this serve as an inspiration to each of us to also do the best that we can to comfort our frontliners, even the people or fur pets who have saved us and helped us get through our days.

As the number of confirmed cases in our country continues to rise, our government is constantly looking for ways and build programs targeted to provide help to our medical workers, frontliners, infected citizens, and sectors greatly affected by this pandemic. Two of the highest elected officials even made announcements on their actionable plans regarding this health issue – one is from the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
On March 17, 2020, the OVP, together with its partnering organizations announced that they were raising funds to provide personal protective equipments (PPEs) to more than 3,000 frontliners as they dangerously fight the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Exactly a week after, March 24, 2020 – Vice President Leni Robredo disclosed on a Facebook post that they already collected P17.3 million which they immediately used to purchase equipment for health workers and infected people.
“The said amount, as of Monday evening, can provide for more than 52,000 PPE sets and other forms of assistance for 3,484 frontliners,”
the Office of the Vice President said.
Aside from the protective gear, transport services were also being offered to our health workers who were affected by the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.
As of today, the OVP has raised P36.2
million.
“Nakakalap na tayo, sa suma total, ng higit P36.2 million. Mula ito sa pinagsamang P5.9 million na iniambag ng Office of the Vice President at and hight P30.2 million na nakalap mula sa donation drive na sinimulan ng ating Angat Buhay partner, and Kaya Natin!”
, Robredo said.
“Maraming, maraming salamat sa mga nagdonate. Totoo nga po: We responded to the worst of times with the best in ourselves,.”
So far, they have distributed
30,450 PPE sets to different hospitals.
The Philippines now has 1,075 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 68 of which have died, and 35 at least have recovered.
