Stargazers, you can catch a glimpse of the deepest penumbral lunar eclipse since February 2017 and until September 2042!

The celestial phenomenon will take place tonight May 5, 2023 at 11:12 PM to 3:34 AM tomorrow, so it is something you should grab the chance to witness as it is before you. Penumbral lunar eclipses are safe to watch unlike solar eclipses. So you can look up as much as you want and hold your gaze for as long as it is there without any worries.

When the Earth passes in front of the sun and the moon, a penumbral lunar eclipse happens, which casts a shadow on the moon. The moon only travels across the penumbra or the outer edge of Earth’s shadow, therefore this shadow is not a total blackout. The moon now seems slightly darker and more reddish as a result. The impact is much subtler than a total lunar eclipse as the moon does not totally vanish.

Penumbral lunar eclipses only happen on full moons, with the full moon in May being known as the Flower Moon due to the abundance of flowers that bloom during this season.

In astrology, the spectacle also takes place in Scorpio, which denotes a period of emotional change and release. Scorpio is linked to intense feelings, unspoken desires, and secrets. Iluminada Fabroa is an 82-year-old who conquered the lovely Siquijor’s skies of Siquijor. Only a few people could accomplish Fabroa’s accomplishment of being one of the oldest skydivers ever in the Skydive Siquijor’s drop-zone.

Her proud grandson, Jeremiah Navarra, who is also a climber, said that the senior is constantly seeking new experiences. His hiking hobby influenced his family members, especially his grandma.

Fabroa stated that she wants to try out what she was not able to when she was younger. Aside from skydiving in Siquijor, she has also conquered Mt. Pulag, which is the highest in Luzon, as well as Mt. Apo – the highest ever in the country.

The golden-ager has accomplished several of the items on her bucket list, such as cliff diving and canyoneering. 

Skydive Siquijor stated that she was physically fit enough to pursue the activity. With the exception of the customary multivitamins and a few eye drops, the remarkable lola takes no maintenance medication at all.

Fabroa reminds us that adventure has no age limit. As we grow older, we may become more cautious, but that doesn’t mean we should give up on seeking new experiences and taking risks.

Here’s some news that will make you split your pants (pun intended) in laughter. 

When we’re hungry, almost everything looks good enough to eat. But this South Korean student might have taken “I’m so hungry I could eat anything” literally. 

Noh Hyun-soo, a South Korean art student, made a meal out of a $120,000 artwork by Maurizio Cattelan. The artwork was a literal banana duct-taped to a wall and was displayed in the Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul, South Korea.

 A video showed the student taking the duct-taped banana, peeling it, and eating it, much to everybody’s surprise. He then put the banana peel back in place on the wall.

After the student was questioned why he would do such a thing, he simply answered that he was “hungry” because he had skipped breakfast. He’s got quite the hunger craving, huh? 

During an interview with a Korean news program, Noh revealed that “damaging a work of modern art could also be art.” 

The museum then replaced the peel since it is supposed to be changed every two to three days. However, even though Cattelan was informed about what happened, he did not react in any way.

However, this wasn’t the first time the “artwork” was eaten. In 2019, artist David Datuna also took the Banana from the wall and ate it at the Perrotin Gallery at Art Basel in Miami.

While the act was funny for some, others did not find it “appeeling”. Do you see what I did there?

Cebuana Student Nurse Saves a Man Suffering From Heat Stroke

A Cebuana Student Nurse is praised after saving a man suffering from heat stroke. 

On Friday, April 28, 2023, a man collapsed due to a heat stroke. The incident happened in front of the Amores Building in Pajo, Lapu-Lapu. Luckily, a student nurse and her boyfriend passed the area and saw the entire situation. 

21-year-old student Nurse Julia Baguio rushed to help the man after she saw him collapse. According to Baguio, she and her boyfriend were walking home when she saw the man become stiff and convulsing. The man fell face-first on the concrete, and his mouth started frothing.

The student nurse did not hesitate and sprung into action. She also instructed other bystanders to call an ambulance while she performed first aid.

Baguio also stated that people kept telling her to leave the man because he had always been experiencing those symptoms. However, Baguio did not listen to them and continued to help the man. The student nurse also expressed anger at the bystanders, but she focused on the man’s well-being instead. 

Baguio also reminds everyone to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water. She also said that people should be extra careful in going out, especially if they are prone to heatstroke.

Julia Baguio is proof that helping people and providing aid to those in need is a natural instinct of medical practitioners, especially nurses. She was able to apply all she had learned as a nursing student and was not afraid to leap into action. She helped the man get a second chance at life because of her act of compassion.
