Change is coming for the Miss Universe Philippines pageantry
for a whole new group will handle the franchise that will send the country’s
representative in the succeeding years to come.
The independent organization, Miss Universe Philippines, will be led by a former Miss Universe Philippines herself, Miss Shamcey Supsup. MUP up till now was once part of the Binibining Pilipinas Charities. Inc.
The new Miss Universe Philippines Organization will be composed of:
Shamcey Supsup, National Director
Albert Andrada, Design Council Head
Jonas Gaffud, Creative Director
Lia Ramos, Head of Women Empowerment Committee and Charity
Atty. Nad Bronce, Head of Legal Affairs
Mario Garcia, Business Development/Marketing Head
It is also good to know that the MUP organization will be headed by someone who has experienced first-hand how it is to represent our country in the international stage, the struggles, the pressure, the hard work, the pride, and the strength of an empowered woman.
Hoping that the new MUP organization will take care of all the aspiring women and continue the streak of sharing the beauty of a Filipina inside and out to the Universe.
Christmas really is a big thing in the Philippines, most especially here in Cebu.
Most cities and municipalities have their own gimmick to celebrate and showcase their concepts and/or designs. And it doesn’t stop there, because each year, it gets better and grander.
Danao City is one of them. They have been known for their grand Christmas village at their renowned boardwalk. And this year’s showcase didn’t fail. We will just let these photos from John Montes do the talking.
Note: Access to the Christmas village is FREE.
How to get there?
Exact location: Danao City Board Walk in northern Cebu — approx. 1.5 hours away from the city.
If you’re bringing your own vehicle, just navigate with Waze and search for “Board Walk Danao City”. There’s an ample parking space available.
If you’re commuting, you have 2 options: • V-HIRE: From SM City Cebu V-hire terminal, ride a V-Hire going to Gaisano Danao. Asked to be dropped off at the Boardwalk. Estimated fare is ₱50 per head. • JEEP: From Cebu City near APM Mall / SM City Cebu, take #27 jeepney bound for Danao. Ask the driver to drop you off at Danao City Boardwalk.
The holidays is
fast approaching and I am sure that you’ve already planned a getaway with your
family and friends. You could either be planning a trip to Bantayan, Oslob, or
in Mactan.
However, more than the aforementioned, we have something for you, an underrated destination – Tuburan in northwestern Cebu.
Tuburan is considered to be the largest municipality in the northern part of Cebu. That alone speaks a lot about the place, but keep your eyes locked as we unveil to you the must-visit spots in Tuburan, Cebu.
1. MALOBOLO COLD SPRING
One of the frequently visited springs in Tuburan because of its scenic and picture-perfect area.
Located more or less 3.5 hrs from Cebu City in northwestern Cebu, Tuburan, Malobolo Cold Spring has 2 tiers of pool-size spring — the first one is 7-ft deep and the other one is 3-ft deep.

of the South. Visitors with their own vehicles also have a number of routes to
take when going to Tuburan. They can take the trans-central highway through
Balamban or through the northern towns via Tabuelan. Another route would be
through the towns in the south going through Toledo.
2. BLUE HOLE SPRING
If to be surrounded
by gigantic trees while dipping is what you’re looking forward to, you need not
to look further. This hole in a blue spring is only waiting for your presence.
With its peaceful ambiance, you will get to experience nature at its best that
will leave you in awe.
– If you are
renting a private van or using your own vehicle, take this route. You can then
navigate using Waze or Google Maps, just search for “san juan elementary
school, barangay ii tuburan”. From there, ask around where you can find the
spring.
– Take a V-hire
from the Ayala terminal going to Tuburan, then drop off at Tuburan town proper.
Fare is ₱140/head (one-way). From there, ride a habal-habal going to Blue Hole

bus from the South Bus Terminal going to Toledo/Tuburan. Fare is around ₱100/head.
Travel time is approximately 3-4 hours from the terminal. This is only ideal if
you come from Minglanilla/Naga/Toledo. Drop off at Tuburan town proper. From
there, ride a habal-habal going to Blue Hole spring.
3. MARMOL CLIFF
Ever wonder why it’s called such? According to our research, it is called marmol (“marble”) because the stones are as shiny and as smooth like those of the marble stones. These stones are said to sparkle when the sun-rays hit the stones.
Marmol Cliff (Marble Cliff) is made up of two big rock formations that line the passageway of a river. It is shallow during sunny days, but when it rain, the water rises up to 20 feet, so you must be careful upon treading.
Jhaz Owerta
Jhaz Owerta
HOW TO GET THERE?
The journey to the
Marmol Cliff starts at the Cebu North Bus Terminal. Just hop on a bus going to
the town of Tuburan. Travel time to the town is around three hours depending on
the traffic. After reaching the town, you can get a ride on a motorcycle for
hire to take you to the place. If you are bringing your own vehicle, it is
advisable to leave it in the town since it will be necessary to go through the
river to get to the cliff. It is better to hire a motorcycle in going to the
cliff since the drivers know how to go through the river using its shallow parts.
4. LITTLE BAGUIO BEACH
Unlike the famous beaches in Cebu, Little Baguio Beach doesn’t have as white as snow sand, but is just as interesting because it is just as clean as the white sand beaches.
The shores are very
clean and you wouldn’t believe that the brown sand is also fine. If you’re someone
who loves the beach, but loves the calm and quiet, the Little Baguio Beach is a
must-visit because most of the time, it is free from the crowd.

The view is
impressive. You can see in the horizon the golden sun setting and it is the
perfect amount of perfection in this tiny corner of Tuburan. You can even set
up a small picnic where your family can freely play Frisbee, volleyball, or as
simple as bathing under the heat of the sun.
HOW TO GET THERE?
The Little Baguio
Beach is found on the shores of Brgy. 1 Poblacion, Tuburan. From the town, grab
a habal-habal to take you to the brown beach.
5. VIDAR BEACH RESORT
Unlike the
aforementioned, this beach resort is popular because the sand is perfectly
white and is as fine as sugar.
Apart from boasting
their white san shoreline, there are also a few activities that you can do
here. Swimming, strolling, and even have your team building activities and
picnics with your family. They also offer kayaking and snorkeling.

To someone who grew listening to
Cebuano music, I am without a doubt a huge fan of what Cebuanos could offer not
only in the nation, but in the global arena of talents.
Hence, when the Guang Ming Institute of Performing Arts (GMI), with the support of Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Foundation opened the Grand Siddhartha Theater on June 26 of this year, I was like floating in cloud 9 because at last! Cebuano talent is now given tribute.
To add icing to the cake, Siddhartha Theatre is a grand theatre for the arts. It has a seating capacity of 200 pax with state-of-the-art equipment to be used for film fests, plays, seminars, conventions, and musical presentations.
