Stranded persons only need to present medical certificate, travel authority

If you are one of the many stranded individuals who have been wishing to go home, you only need to secure a medical certificate and travel authority.

According to the Department of the Interior and Local Government last Saturday, only these two documents would be presented for you to be able to go home.

“Dalawa lang po yung kailangan ninyong ihandang dokumento. Yung medical certificate at yung travel authority,” DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said.

HOW TO SECURE A MEDICAL CERTIFICATE:

  • Your medical certificate should be requested from your health office of the local government unit where you are stranded.
  • This medical certificate should be requested first before you can apply for travel authority at the relevant police offices.

Police stations were also tasked to set up help desks to extend possible assistance.

You are no longer required to take a rapid test or a PCR test to go home, said Malaya.

“Itong medical certificate ay nagsasaad lamang na hindi kayo contact, suspect or probable or confirmed COVID-19 case at nakasaad din na kayo ay nag 14-day quarantine, base sa protocols ng DOH,” said Malaya.

Locally stranded individuals with medical certificates from the local government units can apply for a travel authority at the PNP Help Desks.

CLASSIFICATIONS OF LOCALLY STRANDED INDIVIDUALS:

  • Individuals who wish to return home to ANOTHER BARANGAY WITHIN THE SAME MUNICIPALITY OR CITY must secure the travel authority from the municipal or city police chief.
  • Those whose place of residence is IN ANOTHER TOWN / CITY FROM ANOTHER PROVINCE have to get their travel authority from the Police Provincial Director’s office.
  • Those who need to travel to ANOTHER PROVINCE / REGION must secure their travel authority from the Police Regional Director.

For questions regarding travel authority, the public may call the PNP Command Center through 0998-849-0013 (SMART) and 0917-538-2495 (GLOBE).

Malls to limit aircon, stop free Wi-Fi and sale events under ‘new normal’

With the threat of the pandemic sneaking around the corner, we can’t just neglect to follow our ‘new normal’ guidelines.

To discourage the patrons from flocking to the malls, mall operators were mandated to shut down their free wi-fi connections, stop their sale events, and limit their air conditioning.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) issued Memorandum Circular 20-21, paving the way for more businesses in the country to open. This is also because of the possible lifting of the lockdown.

On May 4, DTI issued the MC covering guidelines for the malls and shopping centers, including establishments, which were allowed to operate under General Community Quarantine (GCQ).

Enlisted below are the guidelines to be followed:

  • Limiting the number of people inside the mall or shopping center or inside an individual store to a density of not more than one person per 2 square meters
  • Entry of people limited to the carrying capacity, computed as the total square meters of vacant walkable space divide by two
  • Reduce the number of open mall entrances to better manage foot traffic
  • Senior citizens, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) obtaining essential goods are allowed only one companion
  • Social distancing of 1 meter apart at all times
  • Assigning personnel to regulate foot traffic in high-density areas such as comfort rooms, supermarkets
  • Customers must stand on every other step of the escalator
  • Limiting access to elevators to senior citizens, PWDs, and pregnant women and to only half of the original standard capacity of the unit
  • Marking or reducing the seats available for customers to use while waiting
  • Creating a one-way flow where possible to decongest queues and facilitate movement
  • Increasing police visibility, should there be a need to enforce strict physical distancing
  • Assigning a centralized pickup location for stores with delivery/pickup service where delivery service providers can pick up goods
  • Regulating air conditioning units inside the mall to 26 degrees centigrade
  • Turning off free wifi for customers;
  • Suspending the conduct of sale events, marketing events, and other promotions
  • Mall operators were also given the discretion to implement more rules to ensure safety for everyone inside their vicinity.

In total, the Narnia books have sold more than 100 million copies and been translated in more than 47 languages worldwide.

“C.S. Lewis’ beloved Chronicles of Narnia stories have resonated with generations of readers around the world,” said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer, Netflix. “Families have fallen in love with characters like Aslan and the entire world of Narnia, and we’re thrilled to be their home for years to come.”

“It is wonderful to know that folks from all over are looking forward to seeing more of Narnia, and that the advances in production and distribution technology have made it possible for us to make Narnian adventures come to life all over the world. Netflix seems to be the very best medium with which to achieve this aim, and I am looking forward to working with them towards this goal.”

– Douglas Gresham, stepson of C.S. Lewis.

“Narnia is one of those rare properties that spans multiple generations and geographies. eOne and I are excited to be collaborating with The C.S. Lewis Company and Netflix who have the capacity to translate the Narnia universe into both stellar feature-length and episodic programming. We cannot wait to get started on the multiple productions we hope to undertake.”

– Mark Gordon, eOne’s President and Chief Content Officer, Film & Television.

A haircut, dine-in service and a movie are just among the activities to look forward to under the government’s latest guidelines.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) allowed the said activities under its revised Omnibus Guidelines on the Implementation of Community Quarantine in the Philippines. (Resolution 38, Series of 2020)

Allowed activities in the resolution are:

  • Movie screenings,
  • Concerts,
  • Sports events
  • Entertainment activities
  • Religious gatherings (depending on the appropriate iatf guidelines for it)
  • Barber shops, salons and other personal-care services
  • Dine-in services .

NOTE: Considering that only 50 percent of the venue or seating capacity of such events will be allowed

Banned activities under ECQ, MECQ and GCQ:

  • Gyms and sports facilities
  • Kid amusement
  • Libraries and archives
  • Museums and cultural centers
  • Tourist agencies and tourists destinations

The areas most likely to be placed under MGCQ are those which are already under GCQ.
