CCHD’S FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

  • Q: “Why the delay in reporting of deaths?”
    • A: Submission of death certificates from hospitals to CCHD may not always be on time as their death certificates are sometimes put on hold because of delay in the payment of bills.
  • Q: “Why wait for death certificates?”
    • A: As per protocol, COVID-related deaths are placed on the official list as soon as a death certificate is duly issued. It will be prudent on the part of government to base its reporting on official documents.
  • Q: “Why is the data being reported by your department different from the report by DOH?”
    • A: The report from DOH is based on the linelist (results) given by laboratories. The CCHD sanitizes that list. After thorough verification of our contact tracing team, CCHD culls out those that are not from the city and also extract those that are double entries. The data that CCHD presents are actual cases traced and identified by the city’s frontliners.

To have 1 million views on the pilot episode of Black Sheep’s first boys’ love (BL) series “Hello, Stranger” means that change has come for Filipino television.

The series starring Tony Labrusca and JC Alcantara can be streamed on YouTube channel and the Facebook page of Black Sheep, and on iWant.

GCash to charge a 2.58% fee per cash-in via credit card starting July 6

0

GCash account holders threaten to boycott the widely-used mobile wallet when it announced to charge a 2.58% convenience fee for each cash-in via Visa/Mastercard bank transactions starting this July 6, 2020. This applies to every cash-in, regardless of amount.

For instance, an account holder cashes-in P100 to his GCash wallet, with a convenience fee of P2.58, that would bring a total charge of P102.58 to his card. Although GCash emphasized that this change is due to the direct charges from their payment partners, netizens still claim that it is unfair.

One netizen expressed her dismay on the issue, “I’m okay with charging convenience fee but I think the 2.5% is too high. So, If I cash in P20k, that’s already P516. Better if they will charge fixed amount.”

However, GCash clarified, that they still provide FREE cash-in methods and that is cash-in via BPI or Union Bank accounts or through a bank app of website powered by Instapay.

“We would like to assure that GCash does not earn a single centavo from the direct charges implemented by our payment partners,”

– Martha Sazon, GCash president

“Even with this soon-to-be implemented minimal charges, GCash will continue to provde the best-in-class services that Filipinos have come to love over the past decade”,

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor eyes on providing flu vaccine shots and Vitamin Cs to residents

Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan of Lapu-Lapu City said that the City Government of Lapu-Lapu has planned to provide free vitamin Cs and flu vaccine shots for the Oponganons.

These vitamins and flu shots will help in boosting their immune system hence, a lesser chance to be contacting the virus. This is in addition to the information drive for Oponganons in their combat against the coronavirus pandemic.

In a Facebook post, Mayor Chan shared the city’s plans to fight this pandemic.

He also mentioned how alarming the rise of the symptomatic patients in Lapu-Lapu were. Hence, their need of a new strategy to avoid being contracted by the virus.

– Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Ahong Chan

This strategy or measure will help the people to at least boost their immune system and to help fight off the virus until a vaccine for it will already be available.

This is one of the most proactive and holistic approach nga atong giandam para sa mga katawhan nga basi sa scientific findings hilabi na sa akong nasinati sa dihang nag-postibo ako sa maong sakit. Mao kini ang usa sa nagpaayo kanako.

Cebu Capitol pushes for traditional healthcare, to train 16,000 brgy health workers

On June 26, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, on her virtual presser,  commended and appreciated the rational statement of a medical group.

A copy of the medical groups’ statement about the infamous ‘tuob’ or steam inhalation received appreciation by Gov. Garcia.

The statement by some doctors admitted that steam inhalation can provide relief, but also warned us with possible burns and scalding. Hence, a careful use by not performing tuob communally has been recommended.

Gov. Garcia said that their joint statement is impressive.

“This is a rational, very sober, very careful statement. There is not one line here that prohibits steam inhalation,” she said.

The doctors’ statements included citations from scientific journals which recognized steam inhalation as a method to provide relief to nasal congestion and dry cough among others.

They also stressed that ‘tuob’ involves only ONE PERSON, and not many, under a blanket, which the governor agreed.

The medical groups who joined in the statement were from:

  • Philippine College of Chest Physicians
  • UP Alumni Cebu Chapter
  • Philippine College of Physicians
  • Central Visayas Chapter
  • Philippine College of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases
  • UST Alumni Association Cebu Chapter
  • Philippine Obstetricians and Gynecologists Society
  • Philippine Academy of Family Physicians
  • Philippine Dermatological Society – Central Visayas
  • Society of Opthalmologists
  • Philippine College of Surgeons
  • Philippine Society of General Surgeons
  • Philippine Pediatric Society – Central Visayas
  • Philippine Respiratory Specialists of Cebu, Inc.

On June 27, the Cebu Capitol announced that traditional and alternative ways of healing will soon be institutionalized in the Province of Cebu as Governor Garcia is set to form a board to implement Republic Act (RA) 8423. This is “to push for the development of traditional and alternative health care in areas where medical services are not immediately available”.

With this, 16,000 barangay health workers in Cebu’s 44 towns and 7 cities will undergo training under the direction of the Provincial Traditional Health Care System (PTHCS) that will soon be created based on the composition recommended by Philippine Institute in Traditional and Alternative Health Care (PITAHC)

Though ‘tuob’ has caused a stir among public officials and medical practitioners, we’d like to stress that one’s stand about steam inhalation might differ from the other, and we agree and respect your opinion.
