Jaynet Oceanview Resort: Perfect getaway in Boljoon

0
1 Jaynet Oceanview Resort Boljoon Cebu

When driving in Boljoon, visitors will find it hard to miss Jaynet Oceanview Resort – a lone structure jutting out from the seaside roads of the municipality.

Although it is a very peculiar location to establish a resort, the cool climate from the mountains and the sea breeze congregating on that spot make it the perfect destination for a nature getaway.

Evident from its name, Jaynet Oceanview Resort boasts the unique view that it has of the turquoise waters of Boljoon. It takes pride in giving its visitors the best oceanside scenery in the municipality. Despite the lack of sandy shores, the resort promises to provide a unique and unforgettable getaway to all their guests.

Rooms with a view

Every room in the resort is fitted with a balcony to really highlight the scenic view of the ocean to every guest that stays while the mountain view is only a luxury available to certain rooms.

The rooms have air conditioning but the natural air would be enough to cool the night. Guests can also enjoy the Asian meals served at the restaurant or they can grill their own meats at the barbecue station for dinner.

Infinity pool

The resort has an outdoor pool but for anyone that prefers nature, there is a beach at the bottom. The beach near the resort is a protected sanctuary and is therefore teeming with various marine life that can be encountered while swimming and snorkeling. If they’re lucky, guests may be able to spot sea turtles or whale sharks loitering around the vicinity. The resort lends out snorkels and floaters for free on a “first come, first serve” basis.

The resort does have scenic views of the Boljoon waters but it is also a just a few minutes away from other Cebu tourist attractions such as the whale sharks or hidden falls in Oslob. Whether guests plan on basking in the picturesque view of Boljoon waters or swimming with the fishes on the beach, Jaynet Oceanview Resort has them covered.

Durhan White Beach Resort: Tabuelan’s Little Paradise

1
1 Durhan White Beach Resort Tabuelan Cebu

Durhan White Beach Resort is considered as Tabuelan’s “Little Paradise” but the experience that awaits its guests is far from little.

Located 90 kilometers from Cebu City, Durhan White Beach Resort is another must-visit white sand beach fringing the island of Cebu.

As mentioned in its name, the resort’s well-maintained beachfront has a long stretch of white sand that serves as their main attraction. It is not only aesthetically pleasing but the sands are fine enough for a fun and comfortable game of beach volleyball as well.

Separating the sandy shores of the beach from the grassy and verdant gardens is a line of coconut and Talisay Trees coupled with other plants.

Near the entrance, most of the buildings look modern but inside is a rustic vibe from the various flora, bamboo and wood facades, and nipa hut cottages. As guests stroll around, they’ll notice benches lining the cemented paths with a seaside view that will set up the mood for intimate moments with loved ones.

Devout believers also have the Sta. Cruz Chapel for a place to practice their faith. For a more quiet and relaxing experience, Lola Perta’s Park offers the needed tranquility for a peaceful lone time while staring out into the sea and the Negros Island.

Durhan White Beach Resort has an assortment of air conditioned and non-air conditioned rooms that are well-equipped with necessities that make the stay satisfying and comfortable.

Sudlon National Park: A protected landscape in the heart of Cebu

2
1 Sudlon National Park Cebu

Cebu is a treasure trove of beaches and other natural wonders and is also equally rich in history and cultural heritage. In the heart of Cebu island is Sudlon National Park, a landscape that hosts such vibrant life and valuable historical pieces far away from modern society.

Sudlon National Park is a protected zone belonging to the Central Cebu Protected Landscape (CCPL) under Republic Act No. 9486 or the “Central Cebu Protected Landscape Act of 2007”. It houses some of Cebu’s endemic and indigenous species and a couple of heritage structures. The name “Sudlon”, which is derived from the Cebuano word for “enter”, comes from the fact that several underground caves in the area act as passages for water.

This protected landscape was declared as a park during President Manuel Quezon’s presidency by virtue of Proclamation No. 56 which “sets apart and designates Sudlon National Park for park purposes for the benefit and enjoyment of the people of the Philippines.” Sure enough, various tourist attractions emerged from the place that attracted various tourists to its sleepy towns.

Moncado Hotel

Also residing peacefully in Sudlon is the curious colony, often labeled as a cult, of the Moncados. The Moncadistas are a group of followers who are led by Henry Jayme. A lot of them looked up to General Hilario Moncado who they believed possessed some kind of supernatural powers. Their epicenter can be found in and near Moncado Hotel – a historical building which is, at the same time, a hotel.

The staff inside are all Moncadistas in their Moncado uniforms. Visitors may stay and get a quick tour of the place for a small fee that is used for maintenance.

Sudlon National Park is a blanket of verdant mountains and forests of lush vegetation. Due to the abundant natural life thriving in the area, it creates a cool climate that is comparable to even that of Baguio City.

The cool climate also helps and contributes greatly to the growth and production of locally-produced crops and vegetables as evidently seen from the various farmlands dotting the green landscape.

Whether you’re looking for a historical venture or a relaxing retreat, Sudlon National Park has everything covered.

HOW TO GET THERE?

Exact location: Sudlon National Park, Transcentral Highway, Cebu City (Uphill Cebu) — approx. 1.5 hour away from the city.

Since the place is quite remote and the roads going there are steep, it’s best to ride your own vehicle or rent a car.

Navigate with Waze or Google Maps and set your destination to “Sudlon National Park”.

LOOK: One Montage Tower, Cebu City’s Newest Iconic Hub

0
1 One Montage Tower Cebu Business Park
Actual Photo (1st Photo) | Render (2nd & 3rd)

Cebu City’s skyline is changing with the newest addition to the league of towers in the metro – the One Montage Tower.

Dubbed as the next iconic hub of Cebu, One Montage Tower is a grade A building that features 29 floors dedicated for office and retail spaces. It is conveniently located along Archbishop Reyes Avenue, Cebu City, right next to Cebu Business Park which makes accessibility the least to worry about.

One Montage Tower is the first of Montage, a three-building mixed-use project of Innoland Development Corporation which vaunts approximately 40,000 square meters of Grade A office space, 7,000 square meters of retail space, and either a residential or hospitality component.

Presently, turnover of office spaces to occupants ready for fit out has already started.

Environment-friendly

As the race to more sustainable projects in the city is moving on its full speed, One Montage makes sure that it’s not just catching the race but leading it. It is LEED pre-certified Silver Category as a high-performance green building and aims to be registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).

Being a LEED pre-certified building, it targets to save water, resources and energy and at the same time, generate less waste and support human health. This commercial complex promises lesser operation cost and boosts employee productivity and retention. It utilizes green concept design and harnesses nature’s strength to provide a sustainable and better environment.

Unique Green Moss Walls

The tower is one of the finest with its façade wrapped with different textures of aluminum cladding and vertical greenery. Green moss walls help cool space in summer by evaporating water into the air and help insulate against the cold during winter. To make the whole green wall system sustainable, it is built with auto-irrigation.

The building also features column-free office spaces, one of the latest developments in structural engineering. Variable refrigerant flow (VRF) air conditioning allows tenants to keep cool while saving as much as 60% of energy.

Other Things to Watch Out

Employees, tenants, and customers alike will enjoy a wide mix of local and international brands including cafes, restaurants, service centers, and a supermarket to be housed in its four floors of open-air retail spaces. Being located in the heart of Cebu’s metropolis, this iconic hub is an ideal place for your growing business.

Other Innoland Projects

Montage is the largest project of Innoland Development Corporation. Other Innoland real estate projects include Link and TGU Park which are office towers (19 and 15 stories high, respectively) in Cebu IT Park.

Overcoming Frustrations of Online Classes: A Guide

0
Online Class Frustrations

Ever since the coronavirus entered the Philippines, infected a lot of people, and caused everyone to self-quarantine at home, our daily lives have changed.

Almost everyone working were forced to work at home, and it may have had either a positive impact or negative impact in their lives; nevertheless, our routines that we usually do in our workplaces are now obsolete and we now follow a new routine in our homes. Instead of the karenderia from the nearby store, you may be eating homecooked meals.

For students, the same changes apply, as the schools have also shifted to having online classes. Gone are the days when the students could laze around in the library or binge eating food from the canteen just to wait for their next class.

However, many students have been complaining about how online classes have drained their mental state, and indeed it can be frustrating since you are only facing a screen and not an actual human being teaching you. It could be that the teacher is giving way too many assignments or tasks, or that his task is too complicated for your environment.

Nevertheless, while it is also very important for teachers to listen to their students’ concerns, it is equally important to learn how to handle all the mental stress from online classes as taking in too much without having a healthy way to cope with it is very damaging to the student psyche. Thus, here are ways of coping up with the frustrations of online classes.

Schedule Time for Yourself

Online classes are a challenge, but it becomes an even bigger challenge when you can no longer be yourself. Schedule time for yourself, your alone time, so that you can still stay in touch with who you are and what you enjoy.

It would be better to have it at minimal intervals every day so that you can destress yourself every day. For example, you can set in your schedule to have your alone time for one hour every day. It is totally up to you.

Play Video Games

During your alone time, you can spend that time on playing video games that help you relax. Even if you are not someone who plays video games, you can try some relaxing games yourself. I’d advise on games like Stardew Valley as they don’t need too much mental stress for a farming game and it is available both on PC and mobile phones.

Although each and every one of us has their own style of games, so find the game that relaxes you most. Be sure to manage your time wisely and stick to the schedule.

Find Hobbies

Everyone has a hobby. Whether it be sewing, sketching, reading a nice book, a hobby defines who we are. You can enjoy your hobbies during your alone time as long as you manage your time well. If you prefer, you can also try searching for a new hobby and explore.

Stay Social

Humans are social beings so it is an essential part of our basic needs. Thus, even though we are in quarantine, remember to keep contact with your friends and barkada.

I would suggest that you play games together, such as Kahoot, Skribbl.io, or PlayingCards.io. There’s even a Secret Hitler game online and a Cards Against Humanity. Or you can simply talk to each other, whichever makes all of you enjoy.

Keep Healthy

No matter how many tasks you have, always prioritize your body, because if you don’t, then there’s nobody to work on your tasks. Remember to eat at the right time with the right amounts, gets plenty of sleep, and exercise often.

You can do a quick exercise routine at home or do a quick jog in the early morning. Keep your body and mind in its top performance and you will be happy with the results.

Pasilong sa Naga: A Green Public Park in Cebu South

0
1 Pasilong sa Naga Cebu

The City of Naga is on its way to developing better and greener public spaces with the new Pasilong sa Naga public park. This park will be a city garden that will provide a place for people of all ages and status to gather, regardless of their ability to pay for access.

“This park shall be a place for health and well-being accessible by all. With this park, we want to erase the misconception of people that [the] government is not capable of providing a facility such as this, because through partnership, it can be done. I am so thankful [to] Mr. Kenneth Cobonpue for his dedication and commitment in crafting the park design,” Mayor Chiong said.

A NEED FOR OPEN SPACES

“Pasilong sa Naga” is a P10.5-million park development project that was conceptualized and initiated by the City Government to address the need for more open spaces in the city.  According to the mayor, this park will be a tangible reflection of the quality of life that she aspires for the Cebuano people.

In her interview with SunStar Cebu, she mentioned that the project was conceptualized after the city applied for financial support from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for the creation of new parks and open spaces.

Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, who was a guest during the city’s 11th Charter, mentioned expectations of the park attracting local and foreign tourists to the southern parts of Cebu City. “It will be a model for sustainable tourism. I’m sure everybody would love to see the design of Kenneth Cobonpue,” exclaimed Puyat.

DESIGNED BY KENNETH COBONPUE

Pasilong sa Naga is a partnership project with world-renowned Cebuano designer Kenneth Cobonpue. According to him, this is his first time to design a park for the local government.

Aside from Pasilong sa Naga, Cobonpue is also assisting the City of Naga in designing the second phase of the Naga Boardwalk.

“Pasilong sa Naga, which literally means “to find shade in Naga”, is a park I designed for the city of Naga, south of Cebu. The design is made up of interlocking rings that represent circles of life, nature’s way of taking and giving back to the earth. The rings vary in scale and turn into winding paths, elevated walkways, fountains, benches and rest areas as they loop around the park,”

– Kenneth Cobonpue said on a Facebook post.

As mentioned, the park will have a design that will feature a series of interlocking rings that will function as walkways that spiral into trees all around the park.

Cobonpue said that the interlocking rings will also represent the unity of Cebu’s politics and culture. In between the rings will be a fountain that park goers will enjoy. The park will also be dotted with ring benches under the shade of trees that will provide respite from the heat of the sun.

Since the project is aiming for a green space, Cobonpue says that no existing trees will be sacrificed during the development. “In fact, we need to add more trees,” he even said.

Soon to open to the public

The development of Pasilong sa Naga will hopefully become a ripple and start a wave of development projects that focus on green and open spaces that can be accessed by Cebuanos and visitors of the City in the future.

Pasilong Sa Naga is still under construction and is not yet open to the public. It is expected to open in December 2020 or early 2021.
