The quarantine period has gone for so long already and honestly, no one can blame anybody for being unproductive. During the pandemic, many have been staying in their homes without work to be done. All that time has turned into waste. As the old saying goes, time is gold, and indeed you can spend your time more wisely by learning something new.
With the previous saying comes another relevant quote, which is knowledge is power. Therefore, if you use your time to acquire knowledge, then you can use that power for gold. It is a simple equation but it works brilliantly.
One topic that is easy to get into and is also easy to practice is programming. After all, coding and programming is done on a computer, and we are surrounded by it almost every day. So, why not start now?
There is no need to worry if you have no experience. This article can guide you to learn in a beginner’s perspective.
Programming needs logic to run effectively. When you are writing code, it is like giving instructions to the computer on what to do. However, those instructions are written through building blocks of codes called functions. When using these functions, you need to apply it logically. You cannot just write onto a computer, “hey, make this ghost move up and down.”
Scratch is one of the best introductions to programming logic there is. It treats code functions as “blocks”. They are just like Legos that, when connected, can do things for you. For example, if you put in a “move 10 steps” block after a “when flag is clicked”, then your icon will move 10 steps when the flag is clicked. It is very easy and simple. There are also Tutorials that you can follow the more advanced you get.
It is also completely free. You can access Scratch through scratch.mit.edu.
When you have developed your programming logic, it is time to choose your specialty. Programming branches out into many fields. Knowing what you want to do is very vital to determine where you want to focus. An example of this is:
If you want to make the display that the user sees (Front-end): Javascript, HTML & CSS
If you want to make the program do what you want it to do (Back-end): Ruby, Python, Javascript, or PHP
If you want to make programs for the phone (Mobile): Swift (iOS) or Java (Android)
If you want to make programs for Windows (Windows): C#
If you want to make programs for the Apple Mac (MacOS): Swift or Objective-C
If you want to make systems (OS): C/C++
If you want to make games (Game development): (C++, Unity and C#)
Once you have found what you want to do, then choosing a language is easy. When you have chosen a language, it is time to proceed to finding a tutorial on how to program with it. This article cannot teach every single language after all, so you can use the internet. If you are familiar with Reddit, the subreddit r/learnprogramming is very useful.
You can find tutorials on your programming language in Tutorialspoint, Free Code Camp, Khan Academy, W3 Schools, and more. Remember, Google is your ally.

The most prominent feature of La Briza Beach Resort is the medium-sized rectangular pool sitting at the middle of the property that displays a deep blue color like the depths of the sea. Charming cottages surround the perimeter of the pool and stand over the lawns inside the resort. Palm trees dot La Briza Beach Resort as well as various ornamental plants that also contribute to the luxurious vibe.
La Briza Beach Resort also provides the guests with a lovely view of the sea. At sundown, the warm, orange tinge of the setting sun is reflected over the pool and the resort transforms into something new. Once the sun has fully set under the horizon, the perimeter of the pool is dimly illuminated with blue lights and the palm trees light up with gentle-colored lights.

Excited for its re-opening on May 1, 2021? If you think you have seen Kawasan Falls at its finest, think again and wait until you see the best of Kawasan Falls during the crisis.
Unlike the usual, Kawasan Falls is in its most tranquil form just yet. Undisturbed and unpopulated, Kawasan Falls is jaw-dropping during this isolation.
John Ray Aligato of The Island Nomad, as a certified representative of a project from Department of Tourism, captured photos of the Kawasan Falls amid COVID-19 and ‘breathtaking’ is surely an understatement to describe them.
The photos were posted on June 5, 2020 and the post reached 1.3k reactions, 119 comments and 650 shares as of writing. These are enough proof to claim that Kawasan Falls is indeed more beautiful when it heals on its own.

When it comes to Cebuano tourism, the town of Borbon seems to be overlooked among other towns. Originally a settlement site that was founded way back in 1693 by a man named Silomogue, it only became a town when Spanish occupants named it after a place in Spain: Bourbon. But some Visayan locals beg to differ that the name was originally derived from the local term “bonbon” which means sand.
Here are the 5 amazing places you must visit while you’re visiting the magnificent town of Borbon.
1. Silmugi River Park
Probably the most famous tourist spot in the town of Borbon, the Silmugi River Park is a picturesque ecotourism park with lots of mangroves. Not only that, various critters can be sighted once you go through the river with a kayak. The river is so popular that during the festival of San Sebastian, the local patron saint, the river is always highlighted.

HOW TO GET THERE?
Exact Location: Tabogon, Borbon, Northern Cebu — approx. 2.5 hours away from the city.
BY BUS: From the North Bus Terminal, ride a bus going to Tabogon – just read the signs for Tabogon via Borbon. Inform the driver to drop you off at the municipal hall of Borbon. The river is just a short walk away and asking locals can be of great help. Bus fare is ₱80-90 per way.
2. Nonoc Cave
Originally one of the campsites for Japanese soldiers during World War II, the cave is now one of the popular tourist spots in Borbon where spelunking is one of the top activities. Hiring a tour guide while going down the cave is highly advised.
RATES AND OTHER INFORMATION
Entrance Fee: NA
Tour Guide Fee: depends on negotiation, tour guides are available near the cave.
HOW TO GET THERE?
Exact Location: Brgy. Caranduhan, Borbon, Tabogon, Northern Cebu — approx. 2.5 hours away from the city.

3. Andang’s Beach House
For those who seek a cove-like ambiance by the sea, this newly opened beach house might just be perfect. Andang’s Beach House is available for rent, allowing you to bask in the place exclusively. It is also perfect for intimate occasions such as birthdays and other celebrations, while admiring the view of the sea at night.
BY BUS: From the North Bus Terminal. Look for the one heading to Borbon, and ask the driver to drop you off at Cabalilitan. From there, you can ask the locals for directions.
4. One Casita Borbon Beach Resort
Since Borbon can roughly be translated to “sand”, the Northern Part of Cebu is full of beaches – and this 4-hectare property is a combination of a beach resort and farm attraction. Other fun activities can be done in One Casita Borbon Beach Resort such as scuba diving, snorkeling and sunset cruises.

Hidden behind the verdant peaks of Catmon is a mysterious waterfall haven and it is called Tinubdan Falls.
In the past, Tinubdan Falls was only known to the surrounding barangays close to it but even then, it wasn’t visited that much by many people due to the various mysteries surrounding it. There were stories of people disappearing in the area of the falls and sometimes, locals would hear splashing sounds from the river as if there were people playing there even though it was empty.

Today, all of those mysterious stories have been covered by various stories of awe and amazement towards the pristine beauty of the waterfalls which drew many locals and tourists to see this beauty for themselves. The mysterious stories of the past actually served as a blessing in disguise and preserved the natural beauty of the waterfalls and the rivers connecting to it. The rivers coming from Tinubdan Falls snake beautifully through the valleys of the town and add to the jungle-like charm of the waterfalls.
The word “tinubdan” is a Cebuano word which means “source”. According to the locals, the area around Tinubdan Falls was used and developed by the Americans to become a source of electricity for their camp which was located in Agsuwao, Catmon. A number of waterfalls and other bodies of water are also present near Tinubdan Falls which made it a strategic place to set up camp in the past.

Tinubdan Falls has around six cascades which converge in two catch basins at the end of the waterfalls but the cascades are pretty hard to count as the waters just flows randomly over different angles and rocks. The first basin has an estimated depth of six feet while the second one has a depth of around three feet. The rocks around the falls are mostly smooth and, therefore, slippery, so visitors to the falls are recommended to wear non-slip footwear or just be careful in general. The main water basin is where people usually gather due to its deep natural pool and spacious surroundings.
Surrounding the Tinubdan Falls is a thick jungle of trees and other flora which isolate the waterfalls from civilization and provide a relaxing retreat to its visitors. Both sides of the river that flow from the waterfalls are also covered in lush trees and plants that create a scenic and charming route for hikers who want to visit Tinubdan Falls.

Whether it’s mysteries or a secluded paradise that you’re searching for, Tinubdan Falls is a wonderful place that’s worth discovering.
BY BUS: Find your way to the Cebu North Bus Terminal and rIde a bus that’s bound for Catmon. The travel from the terminal to Catmon takes around 1.5 to 2 hours. Ask the driver to drop you off at the town proper of Catmon. There are habal-habal or motorcycles for hire in the area which could take you to the drop-off point going to TInubdan Falls. There are two ways to reach the falls: (1) river trekking or (2) hiking on the path.
Imagine a magical trip underwater, swimming with all the marine life and just witnessing the beauty of the depths. It is an adventure of a lifetime.
Located in one of the most beautiful towns in Cebu with the pristine waters, Magic Island Dive Resort in Moalboal is as magical as its name suggests.

RELAXING ARRIVAL
The first thing we did was to check-in. We presented a copy of tourist permit from Moalboal Local Government Unit (LGU) and then shortly after proceeded to our rooms.
The resort rests right on a rocky coastline, so we lounged around their sun beds and umbrellas and enjoyed our coffee and refreshments while taking in the view of the sea and breathing in the sea breeze.

A PEACEFUL & PAMPERING STAY
To prepare for the diving activity the next day, we had an early night and just relax in one of their 10 bungalows/cottages that have their own private balcony. With such limited number of rooms, it felt more private and exclusive for us.
It is quite far from the main roads so you can only hear the sound of the sea, the birds which lulled us to sleep in no time.

SWIMMING WITH THE MARINE CREATURES
After a restful night sleep, we then proceeded to the most awaited activity – diving. We were asked to sign a consent form then listened to the orientation and introduction to basic diving, diving equipment, and how to use them, and the Do’s and Don’ts in diving.
The best thing about it is, it’s just a walk from the resort straight into the water and you can already dive into the amazing house reef where there’s a drop off down of 50m.
Photo from Magic Island Dive Resort Facebook Page
Photo from Magic Island Dive Resort Facebook Page
The equipment and oxygen tanks were first tested for safety purposes. Seeing that they were A-okay, we had the practice dive in shallow waters because it was a little nerve wracking especially for first-timers like us. Though the instructors have assured us that minimal swimming skills are okay when it comes to scuba diving because the goal of the activity is to sink underwater.
With everything accounted for, one diving instructor was assigned for every 2 persons diving and we started the descent on scuba to 6ft deep open water.
The view underwater is ten times worth the dive. The richness and life that you only see in videos hit you differently in person. A giant green sea turtle swam literally right in our face and it looked so peaceful swimming with us that we felt a sense of fulfillment being immersed in the world of these gentle marine creatures. There were also frogfish, pygmy seahorses, mandarin fish, and nudibranchs that rests in their unspoiled colorful coral reefs.
Photo from Magic Island Dive Resort Facebook Page
Though it was very tempting, touching of corals and animals are prohibited for our safety and to protect marine life as well.
This combo is a favorite for all. So naturally, we indulged in it.
They have delicious food in their restaurant and with big servings too which is a big thumbs up and a bar that has a selection of tropical cocktails made with the freshest fruits and branded spirits.
Add in the pool and these three are just right next to each other that if you fancy a swim to cool off, you can also go up to the bar for a cocktail or after that delicious dinner you can go up to the bar for a nightcap.
