SKY Fiber upgrades Super Speed Plans for Remote Workers

Remote workers and online entrepreneurs will be able to heighten their productivity and efficiency as they achieve their daily goals when they equip themselves with SKY Fiber’s leveled-up super speed plans.

SKY Fiber offers various plans suited to different remote work needs, which includes its best value plan 40Mbps at only P1,499/month, which is perfect for emails, some video conferencing, and browsing. It also offers a highspeed plan of 200Mbps at only P3,499/month, which can be used for heavy and multiple online activities such as regular and prolonged video conferences, maintaining a website and social media, and more.

“With the continuous shift to digital platforms in the workplace, we have decided to increase our speeds with the same affordable rates so that they can practically invest in a reliable internet connection that will help them upgrade their work set-up,” Alan Supnet, SKY’s head for Consumer Broadband Products said.

Supnet added that, for professionals, having access to faster speeds can essentially help them save time and accomplish more tasks as they have smoother collaboration with colleagues via video conferencing platforms and quicker access to cloud-based apps and documents.

If there are multiple internet users at home, they will not have to worry about a bogged down connection since an increased speed supports several individuals and devices working online at the same time.

Meanwhile, online entrepreneurs will be able to increase their sales and provide better service as faster speeds enable them to respond to customer inquiries promptly and manage logistics in a timely manner.

Butse Kik: The Song That Angered the Cebuano Chinese Community

Yoyoy Villame’s songs are a cultural classic and there is no denying that. The man himself is iconic; the humor in his songs is ageless and witty, but the songs are also educational and meaningful. He wrote many hits such as his first recording, “Magellan”, which talked about Ferdinand Magellan’s failed conquest in a hilarious way, and “Philippine Geography”, a song that went into detail about the different islands of the Philippines.

However, not all of his songs are meaningful. After all, in his very essence he was a singer, composer, and a comedian. With that in mind, he made a song called “Butse Kik”.

Butse Kik: its origin and meaning

Butse Kik is a novelty song that became one of the staples for radio music in the Philippines. The song is actually composed of gibberish nonsense lyrics, meaning that they do not form literal words or form coherent sentences or thoughts. The concept and the music are also a parody from a 1962 song by Dee Dee Sharp called “Baby Cakes”, which brings strong resemblance.

Photo from blackgrooves.org

According to many sources, the lyrics were thought of by Villame when he was still a jeepney driver. While he was waiting for the car mechanic to fix his jeepney, he listed down all of the names of the Chinese stores in Manila’s Chinatown.

Why the Cebu Chinese community got heated

Apparently, not everyone was laughing about the song. According to sources all over the net, the Chinese community in Cebu got angry about it. In their defense, the lyrics sound like Chinese words mashed together to create this novelty. They possibly might have felt offended and thought that the song was mocking the Chinese language.

With anger in mind, they tried to go to court for the song and demanded that the song be removed from jukeboxes all around. However, this ultimately failed due to one single thing they have overlooked: the song did not have any Chinese words at all. With that revelation, they dropped all cases and probably even burned their Yoyoy Villame albums.

Delicious Premium Aged Meat at Yukga Korean BBQ in IT Park

Just as we think our Korean BBQ experience can’t upgrade anymore. A new restaurant challenges the game with their state-of-the-art grilling process, premium products and top-notch services.

As we now have the tradition of Samgyup nights, Yukga Korean BBQ in Cebu IT Park should be in that list of a must-visit. This Korean BBQ restaurant not only offers delicious meals and high-quality grilled meat but also a never-ending serve of side dishes.

Delicious Premium Meat & Drinks

Yukga Korean BBQ only serves quality meat exported from outside the country. Those famous Korean beef and top-quality meat we have always heard and talked about in food vlogs and Kdramas are just a few rides away.

Their Premium age meat produces incredibly tasty flavor and are served however you want, may it be as boneless beef/pork, beef rib eye roll, pork jowls and many more. All the grilled meat are tender and juicy as they put adequate water under the grill to equalize the heat of the meat.

Of course, grilled meat will never be complete without drinks. They offer various liquors to chill out like soju, makgeolli/rice wine and some local faves.

Cast Iron Grill & Hands-on services

Yukga Korean BBQ is the first in Cebu that uses a cast iron grill purely made with iron which prevents the meat from sticking to the pan which is a common problem in grilling meat. It is also dense enough to imprint their signature mark on the top and bottom layer of the meat during the grilling process.

If you’ve ever felt tired of doing the grilling on one of those BBQ nights then no worries for the staffs of Yukga are the ones who will cook the food in front of you, presenting to us diners how it is properly done.

VIP Rooms & Delivery

If you need a little privacy for events and celebrations, they have VIP rooms that can accommodate 8 to 16 persons. They also have a smoking area that can be ventilated anytime should you feel the need to smoke.

Feeling like not going out won’t be a problem either for Yukga Korean Bbq is open for orders via Maxim and pick up. The customers can opt whether to cook the meat or keep it raw upon delivery.

A little side note, you can also visit Yukga’s sister company, Machang Korean Premium Meat Grill which specializes in beef and pork intestines located at The Space AS Fortuna.

It is a step to the next level on our gastronomic experience so feel free to drop by this new restaurant for that hearty meal you deserve.

All jeepney routes in Cebu City now reopened

The streets of Cebu will be busy again as Mayor Labella issues the Executive Order No. 131 opening all jeepney routes in Cebu City, effective today, May 27, 2021.

“An order amending Executive Order No. 102, Series of 2020, titled ‘An order establishing the Balik Pasada Program for traditional Public Utility Jeepneys (TPUJS) and providing guidelines thereto as amended by Executive Order No.122, Series of 2021.”

This decision was made with the Cebu City Jeepney Task Force, agencies, The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) VII and other relevant enforcement hoping to address the increasing need for public transportation.

TPUJS can be allowed after applying to the “Balik Pasada Program” of Cebu City through the Jeepney Task Force headed by Councilor James Cuenco.

Cebu City Transportation Office & Cebu City Jeepney Task Force tasks:

  • Approval of TPUJ applications
  • Issuance of TPUJ permits
  • Issuance of TPUJ ID’s
  • Operation & Evaluation of all approved TPUJ
  • Compliance monitoring and Enforcement of minimum health standards on all TPUJs

Consequence to not following minimum health standard in TPUJ’s:

  • Confiscation of Balik Pasada TPUJ Driver’s ID
  • Confiscation of Balik Pasada Permit
  • Revocation of permits under Cebu City Jeepney Task Force

Though it is a good thing to have more available transportation for us commuters, we should always adhere to follow the minimum health protocols during this pandemic and be safe.
