What to Know About Netflix’s Trese, a Filipino Comic Anime Adaption

0

2020 has been a treat to a Filipino Netflix subscriber because of the new stuff being released. Just recently, back in October 29, they released the first animated Netflix exclusive film titled “Hayop Ka!” or “The Nimfa Dimaano Story”, and also recently, they showed us a peek at the graphic novel adaptation of “Trese”, which was announced to be adapted back in 2018. It is said to be released by 2021, although nothing is certain yet as the pandemic is still going on.

Going by the description of the NME, “Trese is an award-winning komik series that follows detective Alexandra Trese, who takes on a criminal underworld in a fictional Manila where mythical creatures live in hiding amid humans.” These mythical creatures are the well-known evil Aswangs. The comic was created by writer Budjette Tan and artist Kajo Baldisimo back in December 2005 and is still ongoing today.

This adaptation is a monumental occasion as this Filipino comic story is about to reach a global audience thanks to Netflix, giving us the chance to show the world what kind of storytelling we have. We can only hope that Netflix does the comic justice in their animation.

If you are unsure on whether you will be watching this show, you must ask yourself some questions. If you like grim, mystery, or action anime such as Ghost in the Shell or Death Note, this might be a good show to watch. If you like to watch stories with a strong female protagonist, then Alexandra Trese will surely captivate your heart.

You can also try reading the original black and white comic story as to understand the source of the anime, or you can also walk in to the film’s lore blindly to be amazed and astonished.

Either way, we can only cheer on the team working on Netflix’s Trese  to do a great job to keep the creative integrity of the original while having fluid animation.

To best entertain everyone, Buwaan sa Dagat occasionally hosts beach activities like fire dancing. Not just that, they also offer special discounted rated during special days.

Tuslob-buwa is an exotic food that originated in Brgy. Pasil, Cebu City. It is made from a pig’s brain, soy sauce and some oil that are mixed together. To add flavor, spices like onions, garlic, chili, and shrimp paste are also added to the mixture. It is best enjoyed with puso (hanging rice) and its name is derived from the way it is being eaten. Tuslob means “to dip” and buwa “bubbles”; hence, it’s to dip into the bubbly mixture that serves like a gravy.

Early mornings are the best time to jog and many locals and residents love to jog in the new Mactan Bridge and by the roadside of SRP. One thing that both have in common are its unobstructed and lovely views of the ocean.

The Mactan Channel, also known as the Opon Channel, is the strait that divides the main island of Cebu from the smaller Mactan Island. There are two bridges that cross the channel which are the Mactan-Mandaue Bridge and the Marcelo Fernan Bridge which both connect Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, and Mactan Island. Mt. Naupa: Beautiful, Beginner-Friendly Mountain Peak in Naga City

Steep mountains and ranges with an elevation of more than 2,500 meters above sea level hold in its peaks a natural phenomenon that many travelers and mountain hikers look forward to – the sea of clouds.

Luckily for Sugboanons, one of the many mountains in the island allows for anyone to experience the breathtaking sea of clouds regardless of gear or experience. All they need are a few gears and the excitement to witness the sea of clouds.

Mt. Naupa is a mountain with an almost-perfect cone and stands as the highest peak in Naga. It stands at only around 587 meters above sea level. Despite being barely 1000 meters above sea level, the mountain occasionally has a sea of clouds. With Mt. Naupa being one of the most accessible mountains in Cebu, this also makes it the most accessible viewing point to witness a sea of clouds.

Easy and straightforward trail

Mt. Naupa is considered as the 8th highest mountain in Central Visayas but despite that, it is also one of the most recommended mountains to climb because of its easy and straightforward trail. It’s even recommended for beginners because of how easy it is to climb. The trail is easy yet heart-pumping enough to excite budding climbers. Veteran mountaineers can finish climbing the mountain for about 30 minutes and it may take beginners about an hour or so to reach the top. Due to the reasons mentioned above, Mt. Naupa has become a famous destination among adventure-seekers and casual hikers.

Like any mountain trail in Cebu, Mt. Naupa keeps a rewarding view at the top for everyone that climbs it. Mt. Naupa has an irresistible display of nature’s beauty and a breathtaking view of verdant rolling mountains. Grassy fields and refreshing mountain breeze await mountain climbers at the top – the perfect break from the stresses of the city. When the sun sets, dramatic shades of red and orange paint the sky and pair perfectly with the rolling hills of Naga. Overnight is definitely an option for those who want to experience the sea of clouds or just immerse themselves in the starry skies and natural views at the peak.

There are guides, mostly kids, who offer their services but due to the paths being mostly established already, it’s hard to get lost in Mt. Naupa. For those who do get lost, the residents are more than willing to help everyone find their way back to the trail. Small stores just along the trail sell snacks and refreshments to help re-energize those who become tired during the climb.
