Filipino artist shares The Further Adventures of Ned’s Lola in ‘Spiderman No Way Home’

0

Ben Deguzman shared on his Twitter account @abouthebenjamin a fun and interesting fan-made sequel to the newly released Spiderman No Way Home.

Spiderman No Way Home is an amazing movie for its storyline and the grand reveal of 3 spidermen but most of all for us Filipinos, seeing Ned’s Lola.

The Filipino representation was so strong in this movie with Ned and Lola, it was one of its most memorable parts as it showed the true nature of a Filipino grandmother.

Ned’s Lola was so badass and blunt which inspired this comic covers.

There are scenes of her adventures in dealing with the villains in the movie. It showed how Lola can defeat them just by being a Filipino. Venom would be eaten as his color is like Dinuguan. Green Goblin would be erased with a cross. Sandman is the funniest as he will experience death by being swept.

There is also MJ being the pandesal waster and Lola rearing to fight her or scold her because of it.

Philippines, one of the safe havens if the world ends: Scientists

Should we just prepare for the end of the world?

As with everything that is going on in our world, we might as well expect for the worst. The seemingly unending global pandemic, all the deaths, global warming, forest fires, the ice glaciers melting, racism at its worst, and the threat of becoming zombies in the future.

Now, if the apocalypse truly happens, will we survive?

The answer for us Filipinos is we actually might as scientists have mapped out the safe havens for humans to go to if the world goes to shit.

Researchers from the University of Otago, New Zealand, have presented here a list on where to survive:

  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • Iceland
  • Malta
  • Japan
  • Cape Verde
  • Bahamas
  • Trinidad and Tobago
  • Barbados
  • Madagascar
  • Cuba
  • Mauritius
  • Fiji
  • Maldives
  • Sri Lanka
  • Comoros
  • Solomon Islands
  • Jamaica
  • Philippines
  • Vanuatu

So, the criteria for this list of 20 countries were 1) good physical location, 2) natural resources and 3) political harmony(relatively).

All these places are isolated islands with the resources like food and energy production and technology for people to take refuge from whatever is out there in the world like diseases which are very appropriate today or let’s not forget zombies.

The trick for all these countries to be safe havens is if it cuts off from the world and rebuilds civilization.

It is not surprising really to have our country as a safe haven as we are very rich in natural resources compared to other countries and add with it our geography and isolating won’t really be a problem.

Free COVID-19 TeleConsultations in Cebu

With Cebu having been recording at least 800 COVID cases daily since January 15, a lot of Cebuanos are literally sick now. But not everyone knows what to do and what medicines to buy.

The good news though, Cebu residents can now seek medical advice from physicians without going to the hospitals with the launching of the Cebu COVID-19 TeleGaBAI by Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC).

This service is in partnership with the Philippine College of Physicians, the Cebu Medical Society, and other local medical societies.

Cebu COVID-19 TeleGaBAI

The public can consult physicians by calling the TeleGABAI hotline numbers or sending a message through the official Facebook page.

Contact:

Doctors from different provincial and district hospitals and even patients can ask for medical assistance from their medical experts via the Cebu TeleGaBAI.

The VSMMC initiated the 24/7 Cebu Covid-19 TeleGaBAI program to help decongest the Cebu emergency rooms and hospitals from asymptomatic and mild patients.

The program provides a venue for licensed doctors to guide and advise patients and their families to manage their infections at home.

Please quarantine immediately if you have known exposure to a COVID-positive or suspect patient. Isolate yourself if you have symptoms.

With the surge of the COVID-19 cases at hand, you might want to reconsider making your home-brewed coffee, instead of heading to your favorite coffee shop. Hence, if you have not had the chance to look for one, we’ll make things easier for you.

Check out this Shopee-based online store Baritza’s nifty Press Brewer for only P680!

Looking like a tiny pitcher, this is best for those who are living in small spaces since it won’t consume much space on your countertop. This works like a French press wherein you would be needing to mix hot water and your choice of ground coffee in a container.

However, instead of the sediments at the bottom, the brewer will be separating the finished coffee from the grounds. It will let the liquid drip into the lower chamber. The only work you’ll do thereafter is press the button up top.

You just have to wait and watch the magic happen!

How to use the coffee press:

1. Assemble the Press Brewer by placing the smaller container into the main cup.

2. Scoop your coffee grounds or tea leaves into the upper chamber and pour hot water over the top.

3. Mix the water and grounds together and leave them steep for a few seconds.

4. Hit the button up top and your finished brew should be released right into the bottom chamber.

5. Remove the small container and pour your coffee from the pitcher-like device into any glass or mug.

‘Not your uterus’: Heart Evangelista claps back on TikTok comment

 “Not your uterus.”

Yup. We only have our distant relatives and neighbors who are nosy and get in all of our business but for celebrities, it’s apparently a lot worse.

Beautiful and famous actress Heart Evangelista has had enough of all the inconsiderate comments on her TikTok videos as she directly answered one who asked “Ba’t di kayo magkaanak?”

Photo from @iamhearte | Instagram

This type of comment on her personal life is very common on her videos which might have been the trigger for her to lose patience and respond:

“Ayokoeh. Didn’t anyone teach you manners? I mean, you know what… if I am not sad about it, why are you even?”

She also added the now-viral “Chill. Not your uterus.” text along with “Being a mom shouldn’t be the only source of happiness. My goodness. What are you going to do when your kids have their own life?”

Inappropriate comments sure haunt celebrities but Heart has always had a perfect response as in September 2021, she responded to a comment that said, “Sayang lang ang ganda ng katawan. Hindi mabuntis ng asawa.”

Now, that one is disrespectful and she fired back with,

Okay na sana lahat. Stop telling me to get pregnant unless you really want to hurt me. Nobody knows the real struggle. Life is good. People I love are fine and everything else in between is okay. Bonus na lang if I do conceive again. It’s my body.”

Photo from @iamhearte | Instagram

Not everyone might know but Heart revealed she suffered a miscarriage in 2018. Everyone is fighting their own battles. Let us all remain considerate of others no matter what.
