Considering how the
COVID-19 pandemic has damaged us immensely, we should be happy to know that
ABS-CBN stars are making a difference by doing what they do best – performing.
Over 100 Kapamilya stars will be staging tonight, March 22 at 7PM – from their respective homes. This benefit concert dubbed as “Pantawid ng Pag-ibig: At-Home Together Concert” will also be a fund-raising program to provide food and basic necessities to the Filipinos who are unable to make ends meet during this global crisis.
The “Pantawid
ng Pag-ibig” digital benefit concert is in partnership with the local
government officials in Metro Manila and other private companies.
For everyone who
will be enjoying the concert at the comforts of our homes, we are encouraged to
donate any amount we can for our less-privileged kababayans. The 17 mayors in
Metro Manila will be spearheading the preparation and distribution of these

COVID-19 mask
shortages leave people with makeshift solutions.
One concrete
example is RHIPSTOP, a passion
project inspired by the Cebuano culture. Aptly inspired by our culture,
Rhipstop has decided to give back to the community.
With the lack of
proper masks to aid the Cebuanos in fighting the virus, Rhipstop has been
sewing more than 2000 face masks to not put Cebuanos’ lives at risk.
Rhipstop has been going around the metro giving energy drinks, ethyl alcohol, and cotton masks to the Cebuanos who couldn’t work from home, especially our frontliners.
It’s elating to
know that these local businesses have also contributed to help flatten the
curve. You too can help. Today, right now. You can do something to help others.
People of all ages and walks of life are diving in to make a difference.
Stay indoors to help lessen the spread of the virus. Unless necessary, stay with your family in your humble abode. Keep yourselves safe from this pandemic. Save the world.

Housing these 145 evacuees (as of March 21), is an effective way to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and a great way to cement our faith in humanity.
We are all in this together no matter the class, the house and the race.

“Self-Quarantine” is a way to separate
yourself from others especially if there is a possibility of you being exposed
to the novel coronavirus or you are showing COVID-19 symptoms.
This quarantine will last for the term of
the virus’s incubation period of 14 days where you will be observed and
monitored.
We already have the hotlines and emergency
lines for our inquiries on such cases and we have established that self-quarantine
is the best way to deal with this pandemic.
So, if you are showing symptoms, had travel
history or had a possible contact with someone who tested positive for
COVID-19, we have here a list on how to properly do a self-quarantine.
Keep to yourself. Stay away from all the people in your home. (have a separate room and bathroom if possible)
Proper hygiene: Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough/sneeze and dispose it immediately; wash your hands with soap and water while singing to a tune or for at least 20 seconds; or if not, you can sanitize with a 70% alcohol.
If you have questions regarding your medical needs and attention, call the hotlines and inquiry lines in Cebu to ensure that you are doing the right and safe actions.
Wear a face mask around other people. (ex. Interaction at home, Trip to the hospital)
Do not share drinking cups, eating utensils, towels or even bedding. Wash them with soap thoroughly after using.
Don’t invite guests into your home unless absolutely necessary.
Clean and sanitize all the house surfaces daily using a household cleaner, diluted Zonrox or Lysol. (ex. counters, chairs, tables, doorknobs, bathroom fixtures, toilets, phones, keyboards)
More importantly, clean and sanitize any surface that can possibly be contaminated with blood, stool or any bodily fluids.
Have a proper ventilation. Your home should have good airflow. (ex. Open windows)
Be aware and monitor your symptoms. Immediately call a health care provider if it gets worse like starting to have difficulty in breathing.

The Cebu City government is eyeing to build a collapsible one-story building to be used as a quarantine and treatment facility. The urgency comes as authorities deal with the pandemic, COVID-19, which originated in Wuhan, China.
A 5,000-square-meter property is being prepared by the Cebu City Government for this matter. The center is being built to house residents of Cebu City who will be diagnosed with COVID-19. It will be placed on Block 27 at the North Reclamation Area.
Cebu City Public Information Office
Chairman of the Metropolitan Cebu Water District, Atty. Jose Daluz III, said that the collapsible center can be completed in 10 days, or on March 27, 2020.
He said the
quarantine center will be run by the Cebu City Medical Center and will cater to
patients who have mild, moderate, or severe cases.
The City Government will hire health volunteers to assist medical personnel in managing the facility and the patients.
“The structure can be removed. In the future, magamit nato. Kuhaon na nato. Ang permanent ra jud diha is the flooring (In the future, we can use the building. We can get it. The only permanent thing there is the flooring),”
Daluz added.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health Central Visayas Development COVID-19 Center will be set up at the satellite campus of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in General Maxilom Avenue, Cebu City.
According to the memorandum of agreement signed by Dr. Jaime Bernadas, DOH 7 director and Rev. Fr. Manuel Uy, S.J., the DOH shall be in charge in setting up and maintaining the site, including:
a quarantine area of 50 beds,
triage area for patients,
temporary laboratory facility for testing of COVID-19,
DOH operation center, equipment, machinery,
and related appendices or tools.
We are hoping that with the building of the collapsible quarantine center, together with our prayers and cooperation, COVID-19 will also leave our place as fast as it has arrived.
Update (As of April 16, 2020): Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella has announced that the Quarantine Center in Block 27, North Reclamation Area, Cebu City is now 100% complete and will be operational starting next week.

The pandemic
COVID-19 has made us appreciate staying at home and eating freshly-picked
vegetables.
With the scare of
this pandemic, we need to make sure that we have a much healthier body and
stronger immune system. Hence, we need to consume more fruits and vegetables.
However, not everyone has access to a garden full of vegetables – thanks to
online deliveries for making this possible.
Ecogarden offers free door-to-door delivery of their freshly-picked vegetables within Cebu City with a minimal delivery fee of P50.
With a minimum order
of 1KG, you get the chance to cook your favorite meal with freshly-picked
vegetables without having to leave the comforts of your home.
But, if you want to
stock up and order in bulk, they could also offer additional discounts for
orders above 5kls.
Since they deliver
freshly-picked vegetables, they couldn’t cater to deliveries on a daily basis.
They schedule their deliveries depending on their harvest, that’s 3 to 4 times
in a week.

Along with the panic of the spread of the
novel corona virus was the thought of not having access to its testing kits.
Worry no more, because 30,000 (out of 40,000) test kits arrived in Cebu from South Korea.
There is now a total of 30,100 novel coronavirus test kits for the Visayas, along with the 100 from the DOH main office in Manila. Its distribution will be divided into two, within Cebu City and the rest are for testing PUIs across the Visayas.
These test kits are in the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City (VSMMC) as it is the only COVID-19 proficient molecular testing facility at the sub national level in the Visayas.
Prioritized patients for testing would be
people who are manifesting influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute
respiratory infections (SARI).
The purchase and shipment of the kits was facilitated by the Office of the Presidential Assistant of the Visayas (OPAV) headed by Michael Lloyd Dino, Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Secretary.
20,000 test kits was purchased by Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella for VSMMC and another 20,000 test kits purchased by President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Bong Go for the utilization of the whole LGUs in the Visayas.
