Exact location: Mantawihan Spring, Cogon, Tuburan, Cebu

BY COMMUTE: There are three ways you can get to Tuburan. The first way is to ride a V-hire in IT Park, second is via Ceres Bus at SM City Cebu, or a Corominas Bus at South Bus Terminal. Estimated fare is ₱180 one way. From there, you can walk towards the place with the help of the locals along the way.

A 26-year-old Cebuana who currently lives in Manila working as a bank risk analyst, Nicole Marie del Rosario, was the woman herself behind Project81PH, a personal project that revolves around her goals of stepping into all the provinces of the archipelago.

She wrote on social media about having accomplished her goal in 2019 and it has since then gone viral.

Del Rosario frequently traveled during her childhood summer breaks to Baguio or to visit her grandma in Albay. As a result of these early family vacations, she had a strong sense of adventure and by the time she graduated from college, she began embarking on her own journeys. 

In Pinoy culture, seeking out a new adventure is a core, especially when it is spent with loved ones. Many of us seek the natural wonders all the country has to offer in order to celebrate life.

In an interview, she stated that it sparked her to do it with her friends because she was not allowed to do it when she was younger. She began taking backpacking journeys across provinces and made visiting all 81 of them a priority.

From Batanes down to Tawi-Tawi, she decided to see all these places for herself to explore what her own country has to offer her. Del Rosario embarked on the journey and several items on her list or provinces she had already visited with family and friends, were already crossed off with Batanes and Palawan as her favorite ones.

With temperatures going beyond 35°C, our pets are at risk of overheating. Because of the effects of global warming, the country is expected to be much warmer throughout the year. It is important that we keep the health of our pets especially during this season in mind to keep them from suffering under harsh environmental conditions.

Here are some ways you can keep your pets cool this summer.

Provide adequate shade and water

These are the very basics and should be regularly ensured. If we need shade and water to cool down, so do our pets. Keeping our pets in the shade can prevent their paws from burning on hot surfaces, so avoid having them walk on concrete or asphalt roads that have been exposed to the sun. For both indoors and outdoors, cool water should be given to them to keep a normal temperature. If you can, you should provide a spot outside wherein strays can also have access to cool and clean water. 

Keep an eye out for signs of heatstroke

Any animal can develop heatstroke because they are unable to cool down by sweating the way we humans do. If their breathing rate seems to be increasing to the extent that they are panting, along with a sudden hyperactiveness, it could be an early sign of heatstroke. Also check for gum color with bright red being of concern and if their skin is hot to the touch, some of these you can check regularly.

SIM Card Registration extended for 90 Days, DOJ announces

Are you one of the people who still need to register their SIM cards? Then, this might be the news you’ve been waiting for.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla just announced that the SIM card registration had been extended for 90 days. The announcement was made during an inter-agency task force meeting. 

Last Tuesday, Remulla met with President Bongbong Marcos, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Ivan John Uy, and other government officials. The sectoral meeting was conducted to decide whether the SIM card registration was to be extended.

This decision is contrary to what DICT-7 director Frederick Amores expressed as he believed that extending the SIM card registration was unnecessary because SIM cards will be reactivated even after the deadline.
