Multimedia Arts Student Designs Car-booking App with a Cheaper Fare

Let’s be honest; with the crazy heat and rain, hailing a cab or booking a car ride is our best option. However, some car-booking apps are a bit expensive. In times like these, we just wish Uber was still around since they are fairly cheaper than today’s car-hailing apps.

But a talented student has thought of the same thing. Meet Erwin Dee, a multimedia arts student who will soon launch a car-hailing app, one that is cheaper.

Dee created the app after seeing TikTok posts about how some citizens miss “Uber days.” He wanted to create a solution to make car-hailing fares cheaper again. With his programming background, Dee came up with “Tara.” Tara is a budget-friendly car-hailing app. But that’s not all; the app will give the drivers 100% of the fare.

Photo from Erwin Dee

Tara will be cheaper compared to other car-booking apps since it will comply with LTFRB’s standard fare matrix that does not include surcharges.

Once the Tara app launches and is ready for use, the app won’t only benefit Filipino commuters. The app will also benefit drivers who want to make a living by driving without hidden charges.

Coca-Cola Introduces an AI-made Limited Edition Flavor

Would you drink this?

Coca-Cola introduces its newest and rather futuristic flavor— the Y3000. Sounds like a robot, right? Well, naturally— it’s created by AI.

Photo from Cocacola on Instagram

You read that right. Coca-Cola’s newest flavor used AI to come up with flavor pairings and profiles that would “taste like the future. The Y3000 is part of the company’s “Creations” banner. “Creations” was established to introduce out-of-this-world flavors for the youth.

However, the company asked humans to give their opinions about what flavors reminded them of the future before feeding the responses to AI. The packaging was also created using AI, which gave it a Y2K vibe.

During a marketing release, the brand expressed that the Y3000 features a “futuristic packaging design.” On the packaging, you can see that it has different shades of blue and pink, and the logo looks like it’s glitching.

“Co-created with artificial intelligence, the design showcases liquid in a morphing, evolving state, communicated through form and color changes that emphasize a positive future.”

Photo from Cocacola on Instagram

But wait; that’s not all. There’s another feature where consumers can scan a QR code on the packaging. Once scanned, it will lead to the “Creations” site, and consumers can get a glimpse and feel of what the future will look like in 3000.

What do you think of Coca-Cola’s latest creation? Big yes or Hard pass?

Miss Universe Removes Age Limit: A New Era of Inclusivity

They say age is just a number.

Well, it is actually true. Just imagine witnessing beautiful women compete against one another regardless of their age difference. A major breakthrough for diversity and inclusivity in the pageant industry. It conveys that all women, regardless of their age, are lovely and capable and must be given the chance to achieve their dreams.

Photo from Miss Universe Facebook Page

The Miss Universe pageant will no longer have an upper age limit for participants for the first time in its history. Women of all ages will be eligible to compete in the pageant beginning in 2024 as long as they are at least 18 years old.

The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) made this historic decision on Wednesday, September 13. This step is part of the MUO’s ongoing commitment to inclusiveness and diversity.

According to the organization, “Starting then, every adult in the world will be eligible to join the Miss Universe.”

Fans and former candidates praised the decision to remove the age limit. Many people have commended the MUO for taking this step towards greater inclusivity and recognizing that women of all ages could bring something to the pageant.

Photo from Miss Universe Facebook Page

“What I love about Miss Universe is that they are always out first in line, looking for ways they can be more inclusive and better live up to the platform that they’ve designed for us…. It’s a bold group of women in charge over here, a lot of people tend to follow what we do. It’s nice to be a standard-bearer, and I’m proud that we get to do this,”

– Miss Universe R’Bonney Gabriel,

The statement was delivered by Miss Universe R’Bonney Gabriel, 29, on Tuesday during Tanner Fletcher’s “Beauty Pageant” spring 2024 New York Fashion Week show on a Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) website report.

Gabriel is the oldest Miss Universe winner ever, having won the competition at the age of 28. She has been an outspoken supporter of removing the age limit and is excited to see how the change will affect the pageant in the coming years.

R’Bonney Gabriel, Miss Universe USA 2022 is crowned Miss Universe at the conclusion of the 71st MISS UNIVERSE Competition® on January 14th, 2023 at the New Orleans Ernst N. Morial Convention Center airing LIVE on The Roku Channel in English and Telemundo in Spanish. Contestants from around the globe have spent the last few weeks touring, filming, rehearsing and preparing to compete for the MISS UNIVERSE crown. | Photo from Miss Universe Facebook Page

“A woman’s ability to compete at Miss Universe, or anything in life, shouldn’t be defined by her age. Age should just be a number,”

Gabriel said.

Gabriel is currently the oldest Miss Universe to date at 29.

El Salvador will host the Miss Universe 2023 coronation night on November 18.

One of the many ways that the Miss Universe pageant has evolved to be more inclusive in recent years is the termination of the age limit. The MUO announced in 2022 that it would allow mothers and married women to participate in the pageant. To be more accepting of participants who identify as transgender, the organization has also modified its regulations.

One of the most well-known and distinguished pageants in the world is the Miss Universe pageant, which is watched by millions of people around the globe.
