It is not only a park to see these big reptilian fossils but also an animal conservation center that serves to protect these animals. Aside from the aforementioned animals, they also have large snakes of different kinds such as pythons. Don’t forget to take a picture with them up close!

Crocolandia also has its own museum and a library dedicated to these magnificent creatures. Tourists with curious minds will be able to learn the science behind them.

BY CAR/GRAB/TAXI: Crocolandia is accessible via South Road Properties (SRP) road. Navigate with Waze or Google Maps, and search for “Crocolandia”. Parking space is available.

BY PUBLIC COMMUTE: From the city (CIT or USC Main), you can ride any jeepney that will pass through Tabunok. Drop off near Tabunok Flyover. From there, ride a tricycle or habal-habal that will take you to Crocolandia.

If by bus, you can ride a MyBus from SM City Cebu or SM Seaside and drop off at San Isidro Talisay. From there, look for a tricycle that will take you to Crocolandia.

How to get there?

Exact location: Yati, Liloan, Cebu — 15-30 minutes away from SM Consolacion, 1-1.5 hours away from Cebu City depending on the traffic.

BY CAR/GRAB/TAXI: Navigate with Waze or Google Maps and search for “New Woodland Clubhouse” in Liloan. Parking space is available.

BY PUBLIC COMMUTE: Ride any 25 or 27 jeepney going to Liloan from the SM City Cebu Terminal — fare is ₱15 per way. Or, ride a v-hire going to Liloan from the SM City Cebu Terminal — fare is ₱50 per way. Drop off at Yati intersection. From there, take a habal-habal and the driver to take you to Woodland Clubhouse. Fare is only ₱40 good for 2pax – if you’re alone, you still need to pay ₱40.

11 thousand strong: Century-old Acacia Trees in Carcar saved by the Netizens

One of the best sightings to behold in the south are of those beautiful centuries-old acacia trees in Carcar City, Cebu.

They seem to embrace the road, overlooking all travelers, giving them shade and fresh air. Threatening to cut down these historical trees for road widening was unacceptable and have resulted to an uproar by Cebuanos and netizens alike.

A feat that would go down in history, as one of the highlights of the good side of social media, making every Cebuano and human proud, then took place. “11 thousand strong”, 11 thousand signatures through online petitions saved these trees from destruction.

The DPWH Region 7 says century-old trees in Perrelous, Carcar, Cebu will be preserved. Instead of cutting them down, a new road will be opened alongside those trees (parallel road).

The battle was won but the debate and the defense raised by those who fought for them should be given highlight.

“We are mobile. The trees are not.” – Mily Joy Pactores, the one who initiated the online petition.

This one powerful statement caught my attention as it calls out the species known to be the most intelligent. Us. We can adapt. We can move. We can always find ways. We are supposed to be the “Ents”, a character from Tolkien’s books, the shepherds of the forest, the protector of the trees. Not only the trees, but the environment in general.

Drivers were also called out by the petitioners as it has always been their responsibility to drive safely and carefully. (One of the reasons stated by the government for the planned cutdown was road safety.) This is only a small step but of great impact in the awareness of protecting mother earth.
