On July 13, 2020, PAL has launched its Mid-Year Special Offer where travelers can enjoy safe skies and safe travels with the Heart of the Filipino. For base fares as low as P388 for domestic destinations and USD99 for international destinations, passengers can book their flights for travels from August 1, 2020 up to May 31, 2021.
Whether they are flying home to their loved ones, going on essential business travels, or planning for that long overdue vacation, passengers may avail of these special fares from July 13 to 19, 2020 — now extended until August 2, 2020.
Booking period: July 13-19, 2020 (extended until August 2, 2020)
Travel period: from August 1, 2020 up to May 31, 2021
To avail of the offer, passengers may book via www.philippineairlines.com or call PAL Reservations at (+63 2) 8855 – 8888 or visit any PAL ticketing office or any partner travel agents or through the PAL mobile app.
To ensure the safety and protection of all passengers, PAL is strictly implementing an all-out ‘Fly Safe’ set of new normal safety measures and practices – dubbed “New Normal, Same Heart” – that adopts international health and safety protocols while keeping the signature heartfelt service that the airline is known for.
Passengers are encouraged to check in on-line and arrive early at the airport to allocate extra time for new safety procedures. They are also required to wear face masks or facial coverings at all times – at the airport and throughout the flight – and observe physical distance whenever queueing in line or while seated at waiting areas at the airport.
The Philippine flag carrier is one of the first in the world to require cabin crew to wear full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while on board the flight; PAL’s cabin crew also undergo medical evaluation prior to their duty. PAL has modified its inflight meal and snack service, using sealed packaging instead of traditional meal arrangements. On top of these, PAL also offers Onboard Distancing Seat Options in Business Class, Premium Economy, and a designated zone of the Economy Class cabin for passengers who wish to be extra safe when they fly.
All PAL aircraft are equipped with advanced cabin air systems that continuously infuse fresh air across the cabin (cabin air is replaced every 2 to 3 minutes), as well as High-Efficiency Particulate Air filters (or HEPA filters) that remove viruses, bacteria and other contaminants with 99.99% efficiency. The onboard air creates a controlled and cleaner environment comparable to hospital operating rooms that is safer than most enclosed public spaces.
The flag carrier has partially resumed regular commercial flights to various domestic destinations and key international cities in the US, Asia, Europe, Australia, the Middle East and Canada. PAL has also been operating special missions to repatriate stranded Filipinos and foreign nationals to and from different parts of the world, as well as all-cargo services to transport essential supplies across the Philippines and overseas.
To avail of the offer, passengers may book via www.philippineairlines.com or call PAL Reservations at (+63 2) 8855 – 8888 or visit any PAL ticketing office or any partner travel agents or through the PAL mobile app.

Sprawling on a 13.5-heactare site in Punta Engaño in Mactan, the Emerald Bay Mactan Resort and Casino is the first large-scale, gaming-anchored hospitality development outside the Philippines capital, Manila.
Davao-based businessman Dennis Uy, the President of PH Resorts Group Holdings, the gaming and tourism holding company of the Udenna Group, has fast-tracked the completion of its new casino resort’s first phase by the end of 2021.
The Emerald Bay will initially feature:
830 all-suite rooms,
a penthouse,
a royal suite a
5 ultra-luxurious villas,
122 gaming tables for mass, premium mass and junkets, and
600 electronic gaming machines, among others.
The development will also include themed retail outlets, an activity centre and extensive food and beverage offerings, all in a beach resort setting.
Though the first phase of the casino was set to open on the second quarter of 2022, Uy’s PH Resorts Group Holdings is eyeing to open earlier than expected, by the end of 2021.
“We remain very committed to the long-term growth story of tourism and gaming in the Philippines. While many challenges remain, we are confident of overcoming them as we see some recovery by the time the first phase of Emerald Bay is completed and opened to the public,”
– Dennis Uy, PH Resorts Group Holdings President
PH Resorts will be issuing P1.125 billion worth of shares to its shareholders just to ensure the completion of this project.
Unicapital Inc. and Abacus Capital and Investment Corp. have been tapped as lead and co-lead underwriters, respectively.
Construction Update
Watch this aerial video from KD Aerial Cebu shot last February 2020:
On Saturday, Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella officially announced on his Facebook Page that the City Government will be implementing localized lockdowns in six areas of five barangays in Cebu City.
These areas include:
Sitio Eyha in Barangay Guadalupe
Balaga Drive to Sitio Cekalco in Barangay Labangon
Tuada Compound in Barangay Tisa
Sitio San Isidro and Abellanosa Compound in Barangay Quiot
C. Mina Extension in Barangay Mabolo
“We arrived at this decision after a meeting earlier this morning with the Cebu City IATF and police station commanders. All individuals within the areas under strict lockdown are prohibited from leaving their residences. The City Government will distribute food packs and other necessities to all families affected.”
– Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella
Effective immediately, the areas as identified are placed under strict lockdown for a period of 3-14 days. Contact tracing and swabbing will also be conducted on all identified first-level contacts and probable and suspect individuals.
The Cebu City Health Department (CCHD) will also conduct the health monitoring of all individuals in the said areas. All individuals found COVID-19 positive will be transferred to an appropriate quarantine or medical facility.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), as well as the barangay officials and other force multipliers, are directed to implement the full extent of the lockdown.
With a low restriction under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), the Province of Cebu has gradually opened many sectors, including tourism and public transportation.

The jeepneys are expected to resume plying the roads in Cebu Province starting next week.
