Whether you are a young hero or heroine, you sure have always wanted to be a superhero and save the world.
The aforementioned is especially applicable today because of the wrath brought about by Typhoon Odette. A baby superman from Alegria comes to our rescue!
A pre-birthday shoot of Baby Luca in Alegria made rounds on social media because of the shoot. These photos posted by Dexter B. Faunillan of Alegria Film Studio sure deserve the buzz.
The “Superman vs Odette” theme looks cute and is very much appreciated knowing that as early as childhood, he already has a vision of saving the world.
May this serve as a reminder to all of us that we can all rise from our downfall. Mobangon ta, Sugbo!

Yes. You’ve read it right. Italy is asking people to move to their beautiful villages and will pay you 1.6 million Pesos.
Calabria is a region in the south-western part of Italy and has a population of about 2 million. It has a very rich cultural heritage, punctuated by breathtaking architecture.
I don’t know about you but this is way more than a win. The Southern Italian village of Calabria needs people to live there to reverse population decline, a program known as the “Active Residency Income Project.”
Now, that’s a very generous offer just for existing.
Calabria is commonly referred to as the ‘toe of Italy’ due to the unusual shape that Italy’s landmass has. It appears to take the shape of a boot, sticking out of the continent and into the sea.
And the place is not even shabby, you can live your aesthetic life like the beauty of Italy is nothing but elegance and light and you can binge all the pasta, gelato and other Italian food that you like.
Resident requirement
Anyone under the age of 40
Commits to starting a local business or work professionally
Willing to move to Calabria in southern Italy in 90 days after approval of application.
Said to be an experiment of social inclusion, immigrants are also tasked with boosting the local economy. Also, these villages were asked what type of professionals they’re missing to attract specific workers to move there.
As far as topography is concerned, Calabria is a region that boasts of both, a glorious coastline and also some fascinating mountain ranges.
This program aims to draw people to live in the region and revamp Italy’s south wherein the demand for jobs meets supply.
“The goal is to boost the local economy and breathe new life into small-scale communities,” – Gianluca Gallo, a regional councilor.
The program will be open for applications soon so ready yourself and pack up your life for the adventure of a lifetime in Italy. We will update this post once the official website for the application is up.
This ancestral house from the 30s survived the devastating super typhoon Odette that badly hit the southern and metro parts of Cebu last December 16, 2021.
These photos were taken a few days after Typhoon Odette struck, shared by local resident Atty. Ben Cabrido Jr.
In his Facebook post, he said: “This ancestral house in Candaguit, Sibonga, Cebu which was built in the 1930s by the late spouses Samuel Amores (brother of my maternal grandfather Narciso Amores) and Leonisa Tenebro (niece of my maternal grandmother Leona Tenebro) has withstood against all the severest storms that hit Southern Cebu, including super typhoon Odette.”
In another post, Atty. Ben also shared his personal experience with the house: “I remember now there was a very strong storm that struck Southern Cebu in 1973. Despite its strong winds, this house just vibrated a bit as I continued with my sleep.
The name of that severe tropical storm was Vera (local name: Openg) which hit Sibonga midnight on November 20, 1973. It wasn’t as strong as Nitang (1984), Ruping (1990), and Odette (2021) but it nonetheless felled some coconut and juvenile trees and blew some other houses’ roofs.
There were no electrical posts that felled though because there was yet no electricity then. Built in May 1939, this house still stood mightily despite all the storms that came by to test its integrity.”
Our childhood dream of living in a treehouse will always be that special dream we won’t ever outgrow. Now imagine that dream treehouse but bigger, grander, and more magical.
Located in Brgy. Hingatmonan, Balamban Cebu, the Treehouse De Valentine is the perfect nest away from the stress and fast life in the city. And we’re happy we came across it while browsing for staycation places on Airbnb.
Embraced by Nature
Ever seen the magical forest that was home to the elves in the “Lord of the Rings” movie? That is what it looked and felt like. It’s like stepping into our own magical dream of a home embraced and in one with nature.
Everything that surrounds you radiates warmth like the green in trees, the temperature that feels like hugs, and the humidity in the air.
We felt so at ease and relaxed as we listen to the sound of flowing water.
Cuddled by Luxury
The calmness of the environment isn’t in contrast with the treehouse as it doesn’t seem to be separate from it. It feels like hanging out and dining right in the heart of nature.
The place was very big and spacious. So, for those who need just to take a deep breath and let all the stress go. This is it.
We bathe in our own wooden bathtub just inches away from trees and read by the balcony overlooking the river.
They also have the most comfortable king-sized beds in this 3-bedroom abode which was the perfect end to a lot of exploring and reflecting during the day.
Wifi and mobile signal were low and intermittent at times, but we expected this given its secluded location and it did not ruin our experience. It’s best to come with pre-download movies and music before arriving.
Overall, Treehouse de Valentine is a very cozy, eco-friendly, and Instagramable stay. We’re lucky Airbnb makes it convenient for us to experience this magical, rejuvenating place in Cebu. It’s indeed the best blace to rest and immerse in nature.

On Tuesday, Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) welcomed the arrival of Turkish Airlines’ first reciprocal flight to Cebu.
As part of its global expansion plans, Turkish Airlines introduced its thrice-weekly Istanbul-Manila-Cebu flights, connecting Cebu to more than 320 destinations in over 120 countries around the world.
“It has been a long time since we welcomed a new long-haul flight to Cebu because of the pandemic, and now we are starting the year with Turkish Airlines, which is MCIA’s first direct connection to Europe and strengthens our Middle Eastern connection even more. With this flight, we can help open more opportunities for the region, and enable it to accelerate recovery plans from Typhoon Odette and COVID-19,”
– GMR Megawide President Louie Ferrer
“This has been long in the making and we wish to extend our thanks to Turkish Airlines for believing in the Cebu connection, MCIAA, and our Commercial team at the airport for making this happen,” he continued
Turkish Airlines utilizes an Airbus A350-900 for the thrice-weekly service.
“Despite the recent turn of events in Cebu, the launch of Turkish Airlines brings us hope as we look forward to the future and fast track our recovery efforts. We know that the addition of the Istanbul route will open opportunities not just for Cebu, but for the entire country as well,”
– MCIAA General Manager and CEO Julius G. Neri, Jr.
Its maiden flight at MCIA at 6:52 AM on January 4, 2022.
You are not a Cebuano or might as well be a Filipino if you’ve never seen a Bo’s Coffee shop somewhere in your life. Yes. That is how popular this coffeehouse chain is and the brain behind all this is a fellow Cebuano, Mr. Steve “Bo” Benitez.
Bo’s Coffee is the Philippines’ first and largest homegrown specialty coffee chain with a total of 91 outlets nationwide and the fact that it originated in Cebu just makes us so proud.

It was founded by Steve Benitez in June 1996 in Cebu City, Philippines where it is currently based too.
‘Bo’ Benitez
Steve is proudly Filipino, born and raised in “The Queen City of the South”, Cebu City, and he is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bo’s Coffee.

By 1996 then, Steve opened his first coffee kiosk upon returning to Cebu and created a business that is locally rooted and internationally competitive.
Supporting local
Bo’s Coffee sources coffee beans locally from farmers in Sagada Mountain Province, Benguet, Mt. Kitanglad in Bukidnon, Mt. Matutum in Tupi, South Cotabato, and Mt. Apo.
These beans are handpicked and roasted by artisan roasters and transported fresh to branches around the country.
Hiring the right people
Steve believes in hiring the right and best people in their field of expertise in order to succeed in business.
