South Korea’s NO Kids, NO Study Zones among others becoming a trend

0

It is a fact that the physical social world nowadays mostly consists of cafes and restaurants. They are what we call the social hubs where you meet your friends, loved ones to chill and just enjoy a good drink and good food.

These social places are generally for everyone but certain specific types of restrictions have now surfaced and becoming a common practice in cafes and restaurants in South Korea.

They are called a No * Zone. Simply, this refers to a space to which specific groups are denied access

Types of NO * Zone

1. NO Kids Zone

Photo from efe.com website

This is the first ‘no * zone’ to appear where children under 13 were denied entry in restaurants and cafes. One way or another, we have all experienced this, where children run and scream all over the place. Some brave ones complain to the managers and some just frowns at the parents or just bears with it. This uncomfortable situation to the parents, customers and owners made this restriction surface.

2. NO youth Zone

Photo from seoulbeats.com website

Young students are asked to not enter the establishment as some groups of students engage in deviant behavior as proven over and over before. Disturbing other costumers by being rude, smoking in non-smoking areas, loud talking and laughing, is a sure sign for them to be put on the no entry list.

3. NO Study Zone

Photo from diningaddiction.com website

Ever had the experience of entering a café and leaving abruptly due to lack of seats? This is because there are many people who head to cafes with the main purpose of studying and they occupy a table or tables for several hours. They are refrained to enter for ordering just one drink and proceeding to occupy a table for several hours will have an effect on the café’s turnover and the customer’s comfort as well.

4. NO Tuber Zone

Photo from koreabizwire.com website

Content is everything to a social media presence today which is why some creators film their daily lives. With or without permission, this can be a nuisance to both customers and staff. They comment on food causing disturbance to other customers and just moves around the place. And to top it off some even makes demands of a free meal from the restaurants they visit as a means of compensation which can be viewed as promotional videos.

5. NO Believer Zone

Photo from vaticannews.va website

This one is quite sensitive, the first and 2nd outbreak of covid-19 were both driven by religious groups in South Korea. They implemented this restriction as some churches continued to ignore official guidelines and people started worrying about sharing the same space with religious believers. This one may not work on the Philippines as we didn’t have this experience. Our churches here followed protocol immediately.

There were many arguments regarding these restrictions even in South Korea. Implementing them gives a certain vibe of dividing people and stereotyping. It may spread discrimination and hate in the community.

Others though, think that it is the right of the owner to deny access to certain groups and not suffer damage and that customers should have the right not to feel uncomfortable.

Personally, I agree to some of the no zones but not to all and depending on the places. We are already practicing some of these restrictions. If all of these are implemented and almost everyone is doing it, the social scene can also worsen in the future. As experts said, tension and unpleasant feelings will only grow by avoiding these uncomfortable situations instead of resolving them.

How to Watch Disney Plus in the Philippines

Disney+, the popular streaming service hosted by one of the biggest companies right now, Disney, has been launching numerous epic movies and shows lately. But sadly, the streaming service is not available in the Philippines yet.

Despair not, because as Filipinos, we sure do have our own ways. In this article, we will be discussing how to access the prestigious streaming service via VPN.

For those who do not know, a VPN or a virtual private network extends a private network across a public network and enables users to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if their computing devices were directly connected to the private network. Simply put, using a VPN allows you to have the same rights a certain country or place, like the USA, all while you are somewhere else.

In cases like this, securing a VPN can allow you to stream Disney+. Using the following steps, you can enjoy hits like Marvel TV shows like WandaVision, Loki and many more exclusive Disney+ content.

Photo from unsplash.com by Dan Nelson

1. Look for a premium VPN service

Many VPN services are widely available these days such as Nord VPN, Surfshark and Express VPN. One of the most highly recommended VPN to use for Disney+ streaming is Express VPN.

2. Download the VPN app

Once you have selected your desired VPN, you can register and login to access such service. Make sure to have a secure internet connection too for a smooth process.

3. Connect to the USA server

Once you’re in the VPN service, there are many servers to choose from all over the world. Connect to the USA server to proceed streaming with Disney+. Servers “New Jersey 1&2”, “Washington DC” and “New York” are the highly suggested servers.

4. Login to your Disney+ account

After successfully securing a VPN to the mentioned servers, you can now login to your Disney+ account and enjoy the vast selection of their exclusive content.

Note: after following these steps, make sure that you have an active Disney+ subscription, as you still need a paying account to watch their content. This guide is only about configuring VPN, not pirating the streaming service.

Take note too that VPNs cannot make online connections completely anonymous, but however, they can make your connections more private and secure.

New Slam Dunk Movie Set To Be Released

Slam Dunk fans are surely in for a treat as the beloved anime sensation from our childhood will be getting a movie: the fifth movie made for the popular basketball series since it’s inception in 1993.

A teaser trailer dropped last August 13 featuring a list of the movie’s contributing animators and producers.

The iconic childhood animated series, Slam Dunk will have a theatrical release, more than 20 years since the animated series started. Currently, there are no specific details yet what the movie will be about. Fans can only speculate what the new film will be about.

Photo from thegeekyjuans.com website
Photo from techedt.com website

Since 1994, there have been four movie adaptations for Slam Dunk, also produced by Toei Animations, where each film ran between 30 to 45 minutes and served as standalone spinoffs from the manga series.

Hardcore Slam Dunk fans have suggested that the fifth film will be about Shohoku, the national high school team featured in the animated series, and their road to the Nationals, which was a manga arc that was never realized in the animated series.

Photo from deviantart.com website
Photo from zerochan.net website

For those who don’t know, Slam Dunk follows the story of Hanamichi Sakuragi, the protagonist of the series and a delinquent freshman at Shohoku High who dives into the world of basketball, with the hopes of wooing Haruko, the potential love interest who in turn is also madly into Kaede Rukawa, Shohoku’s star player and Hanamichi’s teammates and nemesis.

As Hanamichi delves into the sport, he forms friendships with his teammates, learns that there’s more to life than brawling and tries to discover if he has what it takes to lead their team to the national championship.

What’s more amazing is that Takehiko Inoue, the author of the best-selling manga, will be directing and also writing the script for this adaptation, making sure that the upcoming film will be faithful to the source material, as what most devoted fans would hope for.

Yasuyuki Ebara, who worked for the hit animated series Attack on Titan as an animation director, will be designing the beloved characters of Slam Dunk.

The upcoming film is set to be released on 2022.

Coconut, the Tree of Life. This extremely useful tree and its beloved fruit are both well-known in the Philippines and the world. The tree itself is used for lumber, fuel, wine, and folk medicine, while the fruit is a versatile component in many cuisines.

In Filipino food, coconuts are used in meals, snacks, drinks and desserts. One traditional dessert highlighting the coconut fruit is the sweet and simple bukhayo. This dessert is made with shredded coconut meat, water, and sugar or molasses.

This simple confection comes in several forms. The young coconut may be cooked until the sugar is caramelized giving it crunchy exterior, it can be cooked until the sugar develops into a moist glaze that is firm but tender, or it can be a totally spreadable on rice or bread!

Traditional bukhayo is made with young coconut meat, or buko. The resulting product is always ever so delightfully soft and tender. It simply gives in to the bite and the succulent sweetness exposes itself.

In Cebu, you can also find bukhayo sa bagol, which is bukhayo in a soft and somehow moist state enclosed in a coconut shell. Bukhayo sa bagol resembles binagol, another Filipino favorite, having similar packaging and presentation.

The moisture in the glazed sugar is contained, and the fragrance of the coconut shell seeps into the bukhayo. This preserves the snack and makes it enjoyable at any desired time.

It’s always a pleasure to untie the twine and break open the coconut. The feeling of “cracking” it open, the contained coconut aroma breaking out, and the condensed taste all make eating bukhayo sa bagol a great experience!

It’s always a delight to eat this sugary treat. The coconut’s flavor is heightened by the sweetness of the sugar and its texture makes it addictively satisfying to eat

In the past, when you wanted to enjoy bukhayo sa bagol, you had to find them outside or within corners of cities, otherwise, it had to be homemade. Now, sellers have come to the online platform, so you can enjoy the sugary tenderness anytime!
