There is even a bamboo mini bridge you can cross as you stroll through the forest-like vicinity. Because of Agwas Cafe’s al fresco concept, patrons are able to enjoy good food with beautiful scenery.

The lighting is exceptionally gorgeous as well which allows you to have naturally-lit photos. The cafe is stunning by day but wait until the evening settles in. You will be welcomed by a magical scene as the cafe lights up.

Good Food for a Good Price

Agwas Cafe offers delicious and filling meals that everyone will surely love. Their menu is perfect for those on a budget but are still looking for a quality taste. One of the highlights of Agwas Cafe is their unique take on traditional Biko. Instead of the traditional brown Biko, they have Blue Biko Bowl. The Blue Biko Bowl is sticky rice infused with Blue Pea Blossom which gives it a blue color.

Of course, Filipinos love Mango Float but Agwas Cafe has their own take and twist. Try out their Nangka Float which uses Jack Fruit instead of mangoes.

Agwas Cafe also offers fresh juices such as fresh mango juice, coconut water lemonade, calamansi juice, and more.  Other must-try drinks are from their Tisanes collection such as the Blue Pea Blossom and mint which is a Blue pea blossom infusion with mint and honey.

Relaxing amidst beautiful golden bamboo should definitely be on top of your adventure list. You can enjoy great quality food without making your wallets cry. And on top of that, you will be given a stunning view of beautiful bamboo. Take the day off and dine at Agwas Cafe in Alhibe Farm.

A Taste of Home: Dine with a view at Balay sa Busay

Balay sa Busay welcomes you home!

Contrary to people’s belief, Balay sa Busay still open and is always ready to give a taste of home to hungry Cebuanos.

Dine Away from the busy City

Take a break from the noises of the city’s center and head over to Balay sa Busay.

Balay sa Busay is modern-Filipino food destination in Busay, Cebu which offers an unhindered view of the city landscape and ocean view with a cool breeze, providing a pleasurable dining experience.

The restaurant is inspired by old Filipino ancestral houses in the province with a perfect blend of old and new elements–a transitional style featuring traditional and modern furniture and fixtures. The spacious interiors give diners the option to dine in the air-conditioned room or open-air veranda which provides a panoramic view of Cebu.

Balay sa Busay has an air-conditioned function room for special occasions, private events, and meetings which can accommodate up to 50 guests and can be split into two and seat 25 each. An open area at the second floor is also available and can also accommodate up to 50 guests.

A Taste of Home

Aside from the gorgeous scenery, Balay sa Busay is also known for its Filipino dishes that definitely taste like home. Sugbo PH was given the opportunity to taste their most popular dishes, and the experience was once again one for the books.

Here’s what we tried:

Mixed Root Chips

For starters, we had the Filipino and spicy take on the classic potato chips. Instead of using regular potatoes, the restaurant used a mix of different root crops instead. The chips were made to crispy perfection. Sprinkled with sugar and chili, the chips definitely had a unique taste. But don’t worry, the sweetness from the sugar perfectly balances out the spiciness.

Paboritong Sisig ni Tatay

Ever had sisig on a shovel before? If not, you better head to Balay sa Busay. The restaurant’s “Paboritong Sisig ni Tatay” is their own take of the classic Filipino Sisig, but the twist is instead of a sizzling plate, they serve it on a sizzling shovel head.

Points for creativity and even more points for the taste. The sisig was perfectly savory with a hint of sweetness and tanginess. Don’t forget to mix it in to ensure a perfectly balanced combination of all flavors.

Chickenillo

Balay sa Busay’s best-seller is the Chickenillo. A savory and crispy chicken dish that’s not only delicious, but also fun. Just like a traditional Cochinillo, the Chickenillo is cut in half using a plate or a platito.

The chicken was incredibly moist and juicy. And every single bite will make you want more.

Paella-inspired Pinakbet Rice

You know that perfect spoonful bite of rice and pinakbet? That’s exactly the same vibe you will get from the restaurant’s Pinakbet Rice. The dish is their own version of the Spanish Paella. The Pinakbet rice is complete with pork and vegetables you would find in traditional Pinakbet. This dish was definitely one of the highlights and we kept digging in for more.

Pomelo Salad

Tangy and fresh, the pomelo salad quickly became the team’s favorite. The refreshing Pomelo salad goes perfectly well with their Chickenillo and Adobong Binisaya ni Bebe.

Other dishes that we were able to try were the Pancit-Batil-Patong, Shrimp in Buko, and more.

The restaurant continues to provide excellent services and amenities to patrons and there are definitely more things to look forward to. Balay sa Busay is your next go-to place for Filipino comfort foods with a twist. They are open and always ready to serve you. Dine in today!

Cherish the Wonders of a Filipino Christmas with the Limited-Edition Pasko Sa Pinas John Walker & Sons XR21

1

Cebu City, Philippines – Johnnie Walker, in partnership with Sugbo Wine Online Liquor Store, has unveiled the limited-edition John Walker & Sons XR21 Pasko Sa Pinas bottle design, showcasing the symbols and traditions that are distinct to a Filipino Christmas celebration. The design highlights the transformation of the country into a wonder of lights, garlands, and joyous traditions unique to each Filipino family during the highly anticipated holiday season. There are only 500 bottles of this exclusive design.

Behind the Bottle Design

Sugbo Wine commissioned Simmer Studios, a Filipino-owned design agency, to create the Pasko Sa Pinas bottle artwork. The design emphasizes how Christmas celebrations in the Philippines are centered on the home – a place where families gather and pass down unique traditions between generations.

This is expressed in the back of the bottle which features a traditional bahay kubo placed in the middle of a modern Christmas tree to symbolize that the Filipino home remains the center of the holiday celebration. The front features the vibrant parol, the traditional ornamental lantern that is also placed on the front door of homes during the Christmas season, lighting up the streets with an array of colors.

The design also captures the best emotional and cultural hooks that is distinct to Cebu. The characters on the design are seen holding a lechon, an indispensable part of the traditional Noche Buena meal in Cebu. It also features characters with musical instruments, capturing Cebuanos, famous for their musicality, as Christmas carolers ringing in the season with their songs.

The Launch Event

The Pasko Sa Pinas John Walker & Sons XR21 bottle design was officially unveiled last December 17, 2022, at the Fili Hotel Lobby at the NUSTAR Casino and Resort Cebu, where guests were treated to a tasting of the whisky and its exclusive blend.

The limited-edition bottles received excellent feedback at the event, with guests ranging from business owners, lawyers, influencers, and avid whisky collectors all praising the design as it captured the identity of Cebu and evoked a distinct holiday happiness, further establishing Johnnie Walker as the perfect gift for the holidays.

“We are elated to offer the Pasko Sa Pinas design on the John Walker & Sons XR21 for whisky drinkers, collectors, and enthusiasts. It is a thoughtful gift that perfectly encapsulates Cebuano culture and the essence of Filipino celebrations that people are sure to appreciate. With only 500 bottles of this design, it would make a valuable inclusion to any whisky collection,”
