Here’s Your Graduation OOTD According to Your Horoscope

It’s time to finally express what’s underneath that toga!

Choosing the best graduation OOTD can take a lot of time in decision-making; from the shape to the color, up until the type of message that you’d like to share. So, we have here a guide that could help you find your perfect look based on your zodiac sign:

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

Aries-born are known for their bold and adventurous spirits. So, the best outfit would be something that’ll make the crowned ram stand out from the crowd and make a statement during the ceremony.

For an Aries, you can wear a red suit or chic dress with statement jewelry and bold heels.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

Elegance and comfort are the two things that Taurus prefer over anything else. As an earth sign, embrace pastel tones and earthy shades.

Classic cuts and fitted tailored outfits are the best options to consider along with subtle yet high-quality jewelry and stylish footwear.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

Geminis are air signs, making them known for following trends and being versatile in their fashion choices.

So, if you’re a Gemini, then you can consider mixing and matching your ensemble with patterns and colors, paired with funky accessories and layered necklaces.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

Soft and romantic looks are the best options for those born under the Cancer horoscope. You can opt for floral dresses or delicate suit designs to add a sense of charm in your OOTD.

And if you have a soft of family heirloom that has been passed down from generation to generation, wear it as it can place a sentimental touch on your graduation day.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

G.L.AM – Leos live for glam! So, when you go OOTD shopping, head over to eye catching pieces such as sparkling suits and gowns or the brightest color that shows Leo’s confidence.

You can add bold and gold jewelry pieces and even wear the highest heels that you can find. It’s all in the details to make an outfit ensemble that screams royalty!

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

Virgos value practicality and a polished appearance which makes tailored pieces the best fit for a graduation day.

And to add a bit of pizzazz to a Virgo’s OOTD, you can choose minimalist jewelry pieces paired with a luxurious structured handbag or pouch to keep all the necessities.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

Upholding the importance of “balance,” Libras lean into styles showing harmony.

Therefore, coordinated outfits can be the go-to style for a Libra’s graduation day; be it a stylish wrap dress or a two-piece set paired with very comfortable shoes.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

Sophistication is the definition of the S in Scorpio. They thrive on maintaining a mysterious and sophisticated style that gives off a luxurious vibe similar to old English spies. So, sleek designs and dark colors are the key for a Scorpio’s best OOTD.

And don’t forget to use subtle yet striking jewelry pieces and a bold makeup look for the perfect ensemble.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

Wild, free-spirited, and fun are some of the characteristics of a Sagittarius. With that in mind, the outfit inspo can be from bohemian or laid back styles that embody the uniqueness and adventurous lifestyle of this zodiac.

Travel-inspired accessories and comfortable shoes can also be paired with the stylish fit for an overall look.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

Who values tradition and class more than anyone else? Well, those are the Capricorns!

Which is why classic, tailored suits and professional dresses can be the choice for the graduation day of a Capricorn; pair that with practical elegant and timeless jewelry pieces and footwear, too!

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

Think avant-garde and creative OOTD inspirations when you think of a person with an Aquarius sign.

They love unconventional and innovative pieces such as asymmetrical dresses and quirky jumpsuits. Futuristic-looking jewelry that showcases their individuality can also be added along with shoes that will easily standout.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

Dreamy, ethereal styles are for Pisces-borns. Think whimsical flowy ensembles paired with delicate jewelry fit for fairies and princesses.

Sugboanons, the suggestions above are merely just that: suggestions! You can use it for a guide, inspo, or even as a stepping stone for you to know what styles to consider. In the end, the most important thing is to express yourself and enjoy your graduation day.

Cheers to all graduates and CONGRATULATIONS to you!

K-Culture Next Door: 2024 Korea Festival Brings the Best of Korea to Cebu!

Maayong adlaw! Dad-on namo ang K-culture diha kaninyo, mga Cebuanos! (We’re bringing K-culture next to you, Cebuanos!)

The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) is thrilled to announce that “K-Culture Next Door: 2024 Korea Festival” is coming to Cebu! Join us at SM Seaside City Cebu, Mountain Wing Atrium on June 15-16 from 10 AM-8 PM and at the Sky Hall of SM Seaside City Cebu on June 15 from 2PM-3:30 PM for the opening ceremony. This exciting and FREE 2-day event offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in Korean culture. As we continue to celebrate 75 years of friendship between Korea and the Philippines, the theme “K-Culture Next Door” signifies the close bond between our nations. Like neighbors, who are just a ‘doorbell’ away, Korea and the Philippines have influenced and supported each other through cultural exchange and interactions over the years.

‘Next Door’ Performance

This year’s Korea Festival is not just a platform for cultural exchange and performances, but this year also celebrates the friendship between two island cities – Jeju and Cebu. This is why we are proud to bring Jeju Island’s unique history, culture, and traditions, which will be highlighted by the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Dance Company at the festival’s opening ceremony, held at Sky Hall on June 15 at 2:00 PM.

The dance company, established in 1989, acts as the ‘cultural envoy’ of the island which widely showcases Jeju’s repertoire of works that utilize the island’s distinct cultural and historical characteristics. With performances around the world, from the United States, down to Africa, and different parts of Asia, the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Dance Company has led many diplomatic ties and cultural celebrations.

To further celebrate the friendship between these distinct islands, a traditional performance showcase from the University of Cebu Dance Company, renowned for winning the “Best Folkloric Dance Troupe” at the 2012 Korean World Travel Fair and Expo, will also be shown.

But the performances don’t stop there! With traditional performances come modern dances! K-Tigers, Korea’s pop taekwondo group with over 1.4 million YouTube subscribers, will show us an exhilarating K-fusion taekwondo performance alongside, a K-pop cover dance competition, “Everyone’s KPOP: Cebu,” which intends to spotlight Cebuanos dancing prowess.

‘Next Door’ Experience

Experience the richness of Korea right at your doorstep!

This year’s festival, supported by various Korean government agencies and corporations, will feature traditional elements such as Hangeul (alphabet), Hanbok (costume), and Jeontongnori (traditional games), as well as contemporary experiences including free Korean food tasting! Our corporate partners include Hyundai Motor Philippines, Inc., showcasing their latest vehicle, and AMOREPACIFIC Philippines, bringing top-notch K-beauty products.

Together with the Korea Tourism Organization-Manila Office (KTO), the Jeju Tourism Organization, and the Korea Copyright Protection Agency Manila Representative Office (KCOPA) this festival will truly bring a slice of Korea to Cebu!

With the collaboration of local partners such as SM Supermalls and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), we are excited to bring the full cultural experience to you for FREE!

Don’t miss the fun and experience K-culture right next to you! Join us at the 2-day festival and be part of this remarkable cultural exchange.

Yes, There Is A Scientific Equation For The Perfect Burger!

Did you know that a leading food scientist studied burgers to know what an actual perfect burger would be like?

Leading food scientist, Charles Michel, conducted a study about burgers and how it is a multi-sensory experience when you bite into the tasty combination of meat, veggies, and buns. According to his studies, the scent of the well-marinated burger is as important as the feel of munching on it. So, let’s get into the breakdown of the scientific factors that determines if a burger is perfect:

30% Aromatics: The Power of Scent

Based on scientific research, our sense of smell plays a crucial role in tasting food; specifically 80% of how we taste or perceive the food we eat comes from how we prefer its scent. The aroma of grilled meat, fresh vegetables, and toasted buns triggers salivation and therefore it can enhance the enjoyable experience of eating a burger.

25% Texture: The Feel of the Bite

Texture is very important, from the crunch of the fresh lettuce, its tender meat, and the softness of the buns. The overall consistency of a burger’s texture can contribute to its appeal.

15% Flavor: The Combination of Ingredients

Imagine a burger with too much acidic taste from the tomatoes and pickles, instead of it being full of umami, it will be a vinegar explosion. So, when you make a burger, make sure that the meat’s well-marinated, the buns are well-seasoned and baked, and its ingredients are fresh.

15% Visual Appeal: Eating with the Eyes

Presentation matters. A well-constructed and visually-appealing burger can stimulate your appetite. It makes you think that the burger is tasty, fresh, and will taste good.

15% Sound: The Crunch Factor

The sound of biting into a burger can definitely add into the sensory experience which is why the crunch of its lettuce is vital for that fresh kick in a grilled hamburger.

15% Taste: The Final Frontier

The perfect combination of the umami-rich beef, the acidity of the ketchup and mayo, and the freshness of the vegetables makes a burger worth a second try. And although the scent and visual appeal of a burger were great, it will still be up to its final taste if the burger is a hit or a miss.

According to Charles Michel, the perfect burger has a height approximate to 7cm, width of 5cm, and must have at least 9 great layers of ingredients starting with the top bun, sauce, crunchy lettuce, fresh tomatoes, deep-fried onion, cheese, burger meat, ketchup, and a seasoned lower bun, “We actually ‘taste’ food with all of our senses and it is scientifically inaccurate to think just about the taste of food in the mouth when discussing deliciousness.”

So, Sugboanons, know of any burger places that hits the mark as per the scientific results above? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

From Yoga to Weddings: What to do In Fort San Pedro

The oldest fort in the Philippines is in Cebu!

Originally made of wood, Fort San Pedro is a triangular shaped bastion fort initially built as a military defense to repel Muslim raiders. It has a side facing the land while two other sides facing the sea. Now, the fort is home to a gallery with artifacts from pre-colonial and Spanish era, and it is open for the public to see.

Not only can you find a gallery of things from early Filipino lives but also a space best suited for holding events and activities, such as the following:

First Dates

Fort San Pedro is one of the go-to places to hold first dates in Cebu. Aside from it being a public place with enough security personnel, the place has a romantic atmosphere especially at night. The benches and trees serve as great sitting spots. Also, because the fort is near the pier, you’ll get to witness the changing colors of the skies as the sunsets and rises.

Yoga & Workout Sesh

If peace and tranquility is what you’re after, then Fort San Pedro is the best place to go. Inside the fort, you can rent out a space to hold your yoga and workout classes. The best part is, you can hear birds chirping when you’re at the second level of the fort since it is an open space above.

Cacao & Spiritual Ceremonies

Cacao ceremonies and other spiritual rituals are best held in areas where one is directly connected to nature; and that’s where the Fort San Pedro comes in! Whether you’re planning a cacao ceremony, a meditation session, or any other spiritual ritual, Fort San Pedro offers the perfect setting to deepen your connection with nature and the divine.

Weddings & Church Events

The historical charm of Fort San Pedro can add a layer of depth for weddings and church-related events. Some themes that most brides consider when renting out the fort for wedding ceremonies include Spanish era themes, luxury Filipiniana, and many more that embrace the natural beauty of the fort. You can even hold an after-party baptism celebration or a youth group event as long as you reserve beforehand.

Educational Tours

The fort’s built-in museum and every piece of architecture inside offers a glimpse into the life of Filipinos during the era when the fort was built. So, you can schedule an educational tour at the fort to get to know Cebu’s history and beginnings.

Fil-Am Actress, Vanessa Hudgens, Won “The Masked Singer” Season 11 Finale!

And she performed while pregnant in a full goldfish costume, too!

The Masked Singer is a FOX singing competition where celebrities perform anonymously by wearing mascot costumes all throughout a performance.

The competition’s season 11 finale was held last week where Vanessa Hudgens performed as “Goldfish” snagged a triumphant win. The 35-year old actress and singer told Entertainment Tonight how she enjoyed her time with the show, “It was definitely quite the ride. A ride I did not think would affect me so deeply.”

Dancing & Singing With A Baby Bump

The Disney star and Broadway performer showcased her talents on The Masked Singer stage in a full costume while pregnant with her first child to husband, Cole Tucker. Imagine being in a goldfish costume as you sing and dance on stage for a competition? Hats off to this mom Wildcat!

“I’ve been in the spotlight for many, many moons now, and there’s just a preconceived idea, I think, when you see yourself on stage, that you’re familiar with. And being able to take that away and be completely stripped of that and show up as myself and feel completely free to do so, because I was completely covered up really just gave me a sense of freedom that I hadn’t had in a minute. And it was really empowering,” said Vanessa.

In her final performance as “Goldfish,” Vanessa sang and danced to the song of Elton John, “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.” The runner for the 11th season was Scott Porter who performed as “Gumball” to the song “Renegade” by Styx. Prior to the finale, both Vanessa and Scott were hailed winners in 14 different unmasking rounds in the entire season; proving their versatility as performers.

Once A Wildcat, Always A Wildcat!

Vanessa Hudgens played Gabriella Montes in the Disney hit trilogy, “High School Musical.” And just recently, following her win, Lucas Grabeel, the actor who played the role of Ryan Evans, shared on social media a song he wrote for the HSM fans and crew entitled, “You Were My Childhood.” The song featured lyrics inspired by the HSM soundtrack such as “I finally found what I’ve been looking for,” “you helped me reach for the stars,” “You made me believe you are the music in me,” and “the buzzer hits with us, breaking free in red, white, and gold; we’ll never grow old.”

The tear-jerking song was paired with never before seen photos of the HSM cast that Lucas kept in his archives. Monique Coleman, Bart Johnson, Kayc Stroh, and even Disney commented on the Instagram reel of the actor.

Years ago, Vanessa and the HSM cast had a reunion, showing their unending friendship over decades from their time as child actors of Disney; keeping up to the slogan of “Once a Wildcat, ALWAYS a Wildcat!”

One More Chance: Should You Follow The Three-Month Rule?

“Alam mo ba yung three-month rule?” Popoy

What is the three-month rule and why are we obsessed with it?

The 3-Month rule is a period in dating that suggests waiting for three months before making decisions. Some interpret the rule as not giving kisses, physical touches, or have sexual relations with a new beau until three months into the relationship; while others observe the rule after a breakup wherein they wait for three months before dating again. But, the question is, should the three-month rule be followed?

Why Three Of All Numbers?

According to studies, it takes 21 days to build a habit, but it can take up to 3 months to get settled in: be it a new job, a new home, or anything new at all! This is why the number 3 is considered the magic number for seeing a potential partner’s true personality traits, and possibly knowing if you have already moved on fully from a previous relationship. Also, it is the time when the initially established routine wears off and a more normal one takes place to consider all parties involved in the relationship. So, by three months, you should be able to know how often a potential partner goes out on a weekend, buys his or her groceries, their sleep duration, and etc.

Netizens Agree, Experts Disagree On Following The Rule

Before dating got too complicated as apps began to surge, couples would just meet randomly or through built connections, date for awhile, and then get married. Now, more and more people see multiple “potentials” before deciding on one, especially since it has become easier to have options in the current dating scene. After a breakup, it is now a piece of cake to simply swipe right to look for a rebound.

However, Patrice Le Goy, Phd LMFT, a licensed marriage and family therapist, shared her disagreement on the rule, “Regardless of the amount of time, it is important to listen to your gut and make the decision that is best for you.” This statement also holds true to some relationships wherein the couple had been together for years, yet, they still end up separated; while, some couples who tied the knot early on into the relationship ended up happy and continued to grow old together.

Nonetheless, Google Trends on the subject of following the three-month rule has grown in the past years, showing that more and more people are interested in knowing and following the probationary period.

One More Chance, The Musical Returns In Three Months!

Speaking of three months, one of the best-selling purely Filipino-made musical will be returning on stage in three months! One More Chance, The Musical is a play inspired by the hit romantic movie trilogy starring Popoy and Basha, played by John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo on-screen. The musical features songs from Ben&Ben and has received rave reviews from its audiences; resulting in having another season for the show.

“This is your chance, 3 months only! PETA’s One More Chance, The Musical featuring the songs of Ben&Ben will be back for another season this August 23 – October 27, 2024! Ticket details are dropping very soon, follow us at @petatheater for the latest show updates! #PETAOneMoreChance,” posted the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) on social media.

So, are you one of those who follow the three-month rule or are you someone who goes with what your gut tells you? Share your thoughts in the comments below, Sugboanons!

From Emo Karaoke Night to ‘I Do’: The Love Story You Won’t Believe!

Do you believe in the saying that love is in the air? What if the love of your life is someone you met during a night out?

Invisible red string theory is an existing legend that originated in China. It is believed that a man and a woman who are meant for each other have an invisible red string tied on their finger, a symbolism that they will meet at the right time. It is also believed that it can get tangled and stretched, but will never break.

This theory got people wondering if they have met their soulmate, yet they have no idea about their fate. And guess what? Love can arrive anytime. The right time could be anytime and anywhere. Your soulmate could be anyone. Someone like you or the opposite of you. Just like this polar opposite couple who recently got married.

Invisible Red String On An Emo Karaoke Night

A couple from California named Vanessa and Jordan went viral as they had a Helena-inspired wedding. ‘Helena’ is a song by a well-known band called My Chemical Romance and was released way back in 2004. Vanessa openly shared about their vague love story as well as the details on how their wedding was planned.

Vanessa met Jordan through a friend. She is an emo, while Jordan is the opposite of her. When they met, she was jokingly saying that he is her type.
