Bored? Google Doodle returns with popular interactive games

Stay Home, Stay Safe, and Have Fun.

While others are busy binge-watching their favorite series, some are busy reading the free e-books, or others could also be attending free online classes, you could not join the others and take a different route – play interactive online games.

With the vision to encourage people to stay in their respective homes during the coronavirus outbreak, Google has started the ‘Stay and Play at Home’ doodle series.

On April 27, Google will be bringing back their interactive Google Doodle game per day over the next two weeks on their Google Doodle page.

An interactive game, Coding for Carrots, was first launched on December 14, 2017. This game will make you program and help a block-shaped rabbit by gathering its favorite food through snapping coding blocks.

They have the classic Pac-Man too!

As of today, April 28, Google has released Cricket. This is in celebration of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. This is a cricket game where you can play actual cricket, virtually.

With all our times on our phones while at home, it would be nice to challenge our minds a bit. Start playing now, yes!

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un is still ‘alive and well’, South Korea says

He is still alive.

Probably the best line to hear amid the CoVID-19 crisis. We are faced with deaths daily and regardless if it’s pandemic-related or otherwise, we all have to wish everyone well.

Same goes to North Korea’s Supreme Leader, Kim Jong-Un, who was believed to have been dead, is still alive and well. Contrary to what has been circulating in the news, South Korea’s intelligence says that there has been no unusual movements detected in North Korea.

“Our government position is firm. Kim Jong-Un is alive and well. He has been staying in the Wonsan area since April 13. No suspicious movements have so far been detected,”

South Korea’s top foreign policy adviser Moon Chung-in said.

This rumor is said to have circulated when he failed to show up during a key state holiday on April 15. As of this writing, Kim Jong-Un has still not been seen in public.

Though the clarification by South Korea’s intelligence, South Korea’s Unification Minister Kim Yeon-Chul has still expressed caution over these rumours.

One of the suspected reasons why this has circulated is because of the medical experts from China who have been dispatched to assess his situation.

While this has been clarified, the South Korean media believes that Kim Jong-Un is staying in Wonsan. A train believed to be owned by Kim, is seen via satellite images in Wonsan.

Nonetheless, one thing is for sure: KIM JONG-UN IS ALIVE.

World Health says drinking alcohol would make you more vulnerable to Coronavirus

Contrary to what most have believed, drinking alcohol would actually make you vulnerable to Coronavirus.

Unlike the trending post about how alcohol could protect you from the pandemic, the World Health Organization (WHO) says otherwise. As a matter of fact, WHO wants to keep your alcoholic beverages in your cupboards for later.

“Alcohol consumption is associated with a range of communicable and noncommunicable diseases and mental health disorders, which can make a person more vulnerable to COVID-19,”

– World Health Organization

“In particular, alcohol compromises the body’s immune system and increases the risk of adverse health outcomes. Therefore, people should minimize their alcohol consumption at any time, and particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic,”

Safe to say, alcoholic beverages couldn’t save you from this pandemic, unlike ethyl / isopropyl alcohol.

Better to hold your horses and do the feasting once this is all over.

Fun Fact: Brgy. Hipodromo was a former horse racing track

Horses have always been a part of the Cebuano culture. Even now, the Kalesa’s are still used as a means of transportation in some parts of Cebu.

But did you know that a racetrack once stood in the now known as Brgy. Hipodromo?

Horse aficionados flock in the racetrack known before as Hippodrome. Horse race watching and betting were one of the main entertainment of the old times. It was part of the Cebuano lifestyle and the Filipino lifestyle in general.

Shaped as a horse racing track as seen from above (aerial shot by John Ray Aligato of The Island Nomad), the starting point of the race was near the entrance along M. J. Cuenco Avenue.  The Pacific Foundry served as the clubhouse where people watched and bet on horses.

Hippodrome closed down as horse racing was no longer profitable.

The barangay was then formed when a huge fire hit Carreta and T. Padilla in the late 1950s and made “Hippodrome” as a relocation site.

The place later became an official barangay and was renamed Hipodromo.
