The island of Cebu is not only known for pristine beaches lining the hems of its beautiful island. Everybody knows that when in Cebu, it’s always a must to taste the mouthwatering flavors of the best-tasting lechon (whole roasted pig) in the country.
Lechon is a staple Filipino food especially in celebrations and feasts because Filipinos definitely cannot resist the crispy golden-brown skin and rich, aromatic flavors from the various herbs and spices mixed with the lechon. Even with Cebu already having the best lechon in the country, a new lechon craze has started to gain attention during the last quarter of 2020.

Precious Joy Requiso-Postrano and her husband wanted to look for a way to make the already famous lechon even better. “We wanted to come up with something new, something unique, and with a twist of the lechon,” Postrano mentioned.
What came out as a result of their brainstorming was a rather unique but equally flavorful Black Lechon. To test the flavors of their new product, Postrano served it during her mother’s birthday as a prank to which her mother reacted surprised due to its burnt color. Upon eating it, the taste of the lechon was anything but burnt.

Photo from Madam’s Lechon Facebook Page
This new and unique twist in the Lechon, which is only available in Danao as of the moment, gains its black color as a result of their special paste made from a variety of herbs and spices mixed with squid ink. Aside from the color, the time and procedure to prepare this variety of lechon is different as well.
The original lechon takes around 2-3 hours to prepare and cook fully while the Black Lechon still requires quite a bit of time to be completely air dried before putting it over the charcoal to ensure that their special paste stays on the lechon. The belly also contains more herbs and other stuffing as well as a whole chicken to make it meatier and much more flavorful. Once all of the steps have been done, the lechon is cooked over burning charcoal for about 2-4 hours.

Last year’s summer may have been a little different since it was when the COVID-19 outbreak started, and everyone was forced to stay inside their houses for safety reasons. But this year, everyone is eager to bring back last year’s lost summer fun. In an effort to drive economic activity and revive tourism vibrance in the region, community quarantine protocols were loosened and more relax restrictions were put to place by the Cebu government.

They have choices for those who want a direct access to the sandy beach front cottage, a delightful sunrise view, a relaxing garden, and many more.

But for those who want to dip themselves first in the pool, their new and revitalizing pool is ready to serve you. Not everyone wants to spend the entire day swimming in the beaches though, let alone get tanned. Some just want the fresh breeze.

A P999 monthly fee can now get subscribers up to 20Mbps, a bump up from speeds of 5Mbps or 10Mbps in previous years. To date, this is considered the most affordable postpaid plan in the country.
“Subscribers will continue to have broadband plans from SKY that are affordable but in addition get faster speeds that will entirely meet their needs. SKY Fiber’s internet plans were designed to assist Filipino households to cope with their combined demand for remote work, e-learning, online entrepreneurship, or content streaming,” Claudia Suarez, SKY’s Consumer Products Group Head said.
This value for money upgrade can also be observed in the other SKY Fiber unlimited broadband plan options, most notably in its highest speed plan, which was previously only 150Mbps but has now leveled up to 200Mbps for the same price of P3,499/month.
If value-conscious consumers are looking for a plan that is somewhere in between the basic and highest plan, they can opt for plan 40Mbps which is only priced at P1,499/month, or plan 80Mbps which is now within pockets’ reach for only P1,999/month.

For those who are unfamiliar with the food, tuslob-buwa is a popular Cebu street food that originated in Pasil area in Cebu City. The name roughly translates to “dip in bubbles,” a reference to how it is eaten. Diners dip pusô or hanging rice into the thick and bubbly froth and pop the salty, greasy pieces into their mouths.
It is made with pork liver and brain which get sauteed with garlic, shrimp paste, onions, and chili.
