The Rosemary Oil Hair Loss Challenge: Is It Really Effective?

TikTok has become a go-to source for information on various topics, including hair loss. Rosemary oil is one allegedly effective treatment that has taken the app by storm. But is it actually an effective remedy?

Photo from iStock

TikTok has seen over 7.3 billion views of #hairloss and combined views of #baldingsolution, #hairlosstreatment, and #hairthickening top 364.7 million. This is unsurprising, given that an estimated one in four men will experience hair loss before age 21. And while hair loss anxiety is nothing new, the same can’t be said for the purported cure that’s taking TikTok by storm: rosemary oil.

What is rosemary oil?

Since ancient times, rosemary oil has been used for its therapeutic benefits. The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects it is known to have may be beneficial to the health of your hair. According to specific research, rosemary oil may aid in promoting hair growth and preventing hair loss.

What does the research say?

Specific evidence points to rosemary oil’s potential efficacy in treating hair loss. In a 2015 study, it was discovered that rosemary oil was just as efficient at promoting hair growth as the hair loss treatment minoxidil. Another investigation found that rosemary oil may effectively treat alopecia areata, resulting in bald patches.

It’s essential to remember that there has yet to be much study on using rosemary oil for hair loss. The majority of conducted research has been minor and brief. The long-term efficacy of rosemary oil for hair loss requires further study.

The usefulness of rosemary oil for hair loss is debatable among experts. Some trichologists, or hair loss specialists, believe rosemary oil could be a safe and effective hair loss treatment. Others are doubtful, citing the scarcity of research on rosemary oil.

If you plan on using rosemary oil to treat hair loss, consult your doctor or a trichologist first. They can assist you in determining your risk factors for hair loss and whether rosemary oil may benefit you.

Here are some additional tips for people with hair loss:

  1. Don’t freak out. Hair loss is a frequent problem that doesn’t always indicate something dangerous.
  1. Seek a diagnosis. There are many distinct types of hair loss, each requiring different therapy. It is vital to have a diagnosis from a doctor or trichologist to receive the appropriate treatment.
  1. Take care of the primary cause. If your hair loss is caused by a root problem, such as a medical condition or medication, treating the underlying cause may help to improve your hair loss.

  1. Consider medications. Several medications are accessible that can be used to treat hair loss. It’s necessary to discuss which medicine is best for you with your doctor or trichologist because these medicines have various action methods.
  1. Try different types of therapy. Other methods of treating hair loss include laser therapy, finasteride (Propecia), and minoxidil (Rogaine). Although some patients may benefit from these treatments, only some are good candidates.
  1. Be patient. Results from hair loss treatments can take some time to appear. If you don’t notice results right away, don’t give up.

  1. Take care of your hair. Even if you are experiencing hair loss, there are many things you can do to take care of your hair and make it look its best. These include avoiding heat styling, using mild shampoo and conditioner, and getting regular trims.

Netflix’s Zombieverse Puts a Twist of Survival Game Shows

Think you could survive a survival show? And no, we’re not talking about living in the jungle or island. We are talking about surviving a zombie apocalypse.

Photo from Netflix

Netflix’s Zombiverse puts a twist on survival game shows. The participants need to survive a simulation of a zombie apocalypse. They need to do what they can to survive and avoid getting bitten.

The contestants are made up of famous comedians, singers, and celebrities in South Korea. What makes the game show different is that the simulation is the same as that of a zombie blockbuster film. From the zombie makeup, acting, and gore effects, Zombieverse absolutely nails it.

Photo from Netflix

The cast includes:

  • Lee S-young
  • Tsuki
  • DinDin
  • Park Na-Rae
  • Hoh Hong-Chul
  • Patricia Thona Yiombi
  • Yoo Hee-Kwan
  • Hong Seong-woo, and many more.

The show is a mix of action and comedy. If you want a good laugh after a stressful day, then this is perfect for you. You will be kept on the edge of your seats as the participants try to escape zombie-infected locations. Their stamina, wits, and strategy-making skills will be put to the test as Seoul is overrun with Zombies.

Since it is still in its first season and the first of its kind, there is still a lot to improve with production and plot. Nonetheless, it makes a good late night show to watch.

The full season, released on August 8, 2023, has eight episodes.

Oh My Ghost: How to Bring in Good Luck During Ghost Month 2023

The gates shall open, and souls shall roam. The unseen shall pass by, and it is the time we are never truly alone.

Photos from Unsplash

In the Chinese Lunar Calendar, the seventh month is known as the Ghost Month. This year’s ghost month begins on August 16 and ends on September 14. Asian people believe that during this month, spirits will roam freely as they look for appeasement. The ghosts look for food and prayers, and some even look for trouble, which leads to bad luck.

So, what do people need to know about Ghost month? What can we do to keep the bad luck out? Let’s find out.

Honoring the Spirits

Ghost Month is celebrated to honor the spirits and to show respect to those who have passed. During the whole month, there are different rituals, performances, and offerings.

Here are what you can do to keep the bad luck out and appease the spirits.

Photos from Unsplash

Pray for the spirits.

Photos from Unsplash

Prayer is a powerful thing. Sometimes, these roaming spirits are in need of prayers. Pray for them at church or a temple, or even at home.

Burn candles to light their way.

Photos from Unsplash

Most of the time, these spirits need a light that guides them to wherever they are going. If you have incense, it’s also another way to light a path for them.

Burn Paper Money

Photos from Unsplash

It’s part of Chinese tradition to burn paper money for the dead. Burning paper money is said to give the ghost wealth in the afterlife. Aside from paper money, you can also burn paper cars or even paper houses.

Keep the lights on.

Photos from Unsplash

Ghosts, being ghosts, will lurk in the dark. This is why it is best if you keep your house well-lit with bright light. There is also a belief that bright lights can prevent spirits from haunting you.

Avoid Yin Colors

Dark colors attract Hungry Ghosts. So, avoid black, white, dark blue, and other dark colors. For this month, make sure you wear something red, yellow, and other clothing that are bright.

Use Salt for purification.

Photos from Unsplash

Salt is good for purification, which is why it is a good idea to put rock salt on your doors and windows to prevent ghosts from entering and haunting your house.

Offer food to Spirits.

Photos from Unsplash

Leave food offerings outside your doors. You may offer different treats for the Hungry Ghosts, such as rice, fruits, meat, and sweets. You can even give them liquor.

Avoid Holding Weddings

Photos from Unsplash

If you want to live happily ever after, avoid getting married during Ghost month. This is because ghosts can put curses or give bad luck to you and your marriage life.

Avoid Starting a Business during this month.

Photos from Unsplash

Once again, ghosts sometimes cause mischief, which can impact your business. Launching projects and taking huge risks must be avoided during Ghost Month.

Don’t hang clothes outside at night.

Photos from Unsplash

From shirts to shorts, do not leave them out at night. The ghosts may claim the clothes and attach themselves to it. Once they attach themselves to the clothes, they will attach themselves to the wearer.

Yes, we all have our own beliefs and traditions— Ghost Month is also something that’s been passed down from one generation to another. It wouldn’t hurt to respect different people’s traditions. Moreover, it’s not bad to be careful and superstitious.

Photos from Unsplash

Remembering the dead is one way to show our loved ones who have passed that they are remembered. And remember, not all ghosts haunt to inflict harm or misfortune; some of them just miss the life that they had before crossing to the afterlife.

Man ‘Accidentally’ Receives P5.7 Million worth of Pay, gets arrested

What if you receive a million cash by mistake from someone? Would you still return it to its rightful owner? Or keep it by yourself.

Photo from Unsplash

In an unexpected turn of events, a man in Hungary thought he had hit the jackpot when he was accidentally paid 367 times his salary. But his good fortune quickly turned to misfortune when he refused to return the money and was subsequently arrested.

The unnamed individual was a temporary employee at a business in Kaposvár City. According to his contract, he was entitled to get 92,549 HUF (around P14,000) each month, but his employer failed to convert it into euros. The receiver kept it when his company unintentionally placed 92,549 euros (P5.7 million) into his Austrian account.

Photo from Unsplash

Quickly realizing what had happened, the employer contacted the man and asked him to reimburse the money. The man objected and said he couldn’t access his bank account.

The Kaposvár District Prosecutor’s Office investigated the incident and discovered that the person in question had taken a sizeable sum of money out of his account and moved it to another account. The man was then detained and accused of illegal appropriation. During the trial period, he was also terminated from his employment. With the assistance of the Kaposvár District Prosecutor’s Office, the company was able to freeze his bank account and recover 28 million HUF.

Photo from Unsplash

This incident serves as a reminder of the need to review your bank statements adequately. It is a gentle reminder to be truthful and return any enormous sums of money to their proper owners if you’re fortunate enough to come into them. Otherwise, you could end up in jail… or worse, you could become the laughingstock of the internet.
