For two consecutive years, in 2022 and 2023, Talisay City gets accorded the Natatanging Lingkod Maralita Award which is a category for local government units with respect to their efforts in alleviating poverty.

Such an award was given by the Presidential Commission for Urban Poor or the PCUP during the commencement of the Urban Poor Solidarity Week in Quezon City last December 7. The PCUP is a body that assesses urban poverty issues regarding housing and demolitions. These are ongoing problems in the country which the poor grapple with, and the demand by the masses for government units to offer assistance in their plight is at an all-time-high.

Informal settlers are the most vulnerable stakeholders in this issue because of the fragility of their mere ability to reside in a home. This has a lot to do with the lack of urban planning as well as pro-poor policies.

Talisay City has been one that stood out in helping their urban poor according to the PCUP with their given programs. However, for a 51-year-old Moroccan gardener, that dream is not too far-fetched. This is because the heir to Hermes, Nicolas Puech, intends to leave the gardener a part of his $11 billion fortune. At 80 years old, Nicolas holds the largest individual shares of Hermes.

Jiggy is said to have been the mastermind of the pawnshop robbery that happened in Cebu in broad daylight. He is also reportedly an employee of a Cebu Provincial Board member.

There are nine food stalls on Haiphong Road, a few of them being Hao Hueng Garden (satay beef noodles), Wah Heung Yuen (pork chops), Man Kee (Hainanese chicken rice), and Tak Fat Beef Ball.

  • Leaf Desserts

Contrary to its name, Leaf Desserts serves not only traditional Hong Kong desserts but also different noodles such as pork knuckles, dumplings, and wonton noodles. They also have beef brisket noodles that are worth trying. 

Of course, the meal is incomplete without desserts, so try out their black sesame soup, sweet green mung bean soup, and sago soup.

  • Woosung Street Temporary Cooked Food Hawker Bazaar

Woosung Street is another landmark for food and traditional Hong Kong cuisine.  It has ten stalls with cha chaan teng-style food available in the mornings and afternoons. A must-try stall on Woosung Street is the Yuen Kee, which serves seafood.

  • Wong Tai Sin Street Restaurant

Wong Tai Sin housed two cooked food stalls. Chui Wo Lee is one of the two remaining estate-cooked food stalls in Hong Kong. They are open 24 hours a day and specialize in Hong Kong-style dim sum.

  • Sing Heung Yuen

How to Obtain Your Digital TIN ID Online

The latest update from the Bureau of Internal Revenue is the Digital Tax Identification Number ID (TIN). The hassle that comes with going onsite to obtain one is no longer a necessity as we take a step forward to enhanced service delivery and innovation. Such an approach streamlines the application process, especially for new claimants, canceling the need to hire fixers.

BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui stressed the significance of this alternative, mentioning how taxpayers now have more incentive to comply because of the removed necessity to endure long queues.

For those who already have a tax identification number, you can now apply for your Digital TIN ID through the addition of the Bureau’s Online Registration and Update System (ORUS). Here is how the process goes:

1. Users have to submit a Registration Update Sheet to the Revenue District Office via email. Your email address has to be updated as well. You may choose to do so through BIR’s eServices – Taxpayer Registration Related Application Portal.

2. After updating your email address, you can now make your ORUS account and register there. You will be thoroughly guided throughout the process as the site provides a list of the necessary requirements to be submitted. 

3. To ensure security, the digital transformation requires you to submit a clear photo for your Digital TIN ID. Note that uploading irrelevant photos as a joke can get you penalized.

4. Verification is made easy through this update. You can verify your Digital Tin ID by scanning the QR code with your own mobile phone. This last step gives you the security of your identification, immediately ensuring the legitimacy of your document.

Note that the Digital TIN ID is not just an online placeholder, as this is a legitimate document that can be accepted by government agencies, banks, and other institutions due to it being a valid government-issued identification. This is crucial in terms of our changing times, and the BIR’s willingness to adapt to it shows that importance exactly. This initiative gives users a more convenient and accessible way to get a hold of their TINs, making everything smoother, faster, and more reliable.

In April this year, they renovated the entire resort and repainted the establishment with white and royal blue, resembling those located in the famous Santorini, Greece. The resort is situated on a cliff, and this characteristic is what gives it such an exciting flare. To go to the cottages, you have to descend a flight of stairs by the wall of rock, necessitating you to descend more flights of stairs if you want to go lower to the beach. The entire place is serene and picturesque, with a full view of the turquoise waters, being as it is with the sonic clashes of the ocean waves to the wall of rocks.

Because of the resort’s geographical location, waves can be harsh depending on the day, and it might not be so relaxing to take a swim on the actual beach.
