Celebrities Who Used Dating Apps & Failed

Even celebrities tried and failed… how about us, commoners then, huh?

Photo from Canva

News about Zayn Malik’s failed attempt in using a dating app became a global phenomenon, especially since there are tons of women worldwide who would definitely date Zayn! But, according to him in an interview with Nylon, he constantly gets accused of catfishing whenever he joins a dating app, “Everyone accused me of catfishing. They’re like, ‘What are you using Zayn Malik’s pictures for?’”

Photo from Time

Aside from Zayn, there are still many other celebrities who had tried and failed in the area of new tech dating, and here are some of them:

Ivana Alawi

Actress and influencer, Ivana Alawi, shared on one of her vlog interviews that she has used a dating app before, “Broken ako noon. Gusto ko ng ka-chat. Pero hindi ako nakipagkita. Chat chat lang. Pero matagal ko nang dinelete.” [Translation: “I was heartbroken at that time. I wanted someone to chat with, but I didn’t push through to meet up with anyone in person; just chatting. However, I already deleted the app a long time ago.”]

Zac Efron

Being a Disney channel heartthrob and versatile actor is not a guarantee to land a date from an app. Zac shared to Vogue that he never received a swipe right when he joined Tinder, “Amazingly, when I signed up for Tinder, nobody swiped me! They thought it was fake…that never happened.”

Roxanne Barcelo

During her interview with PEP.PH, Roxanne admitted that she felt her singleness dragging along so she decided to try two dating apps, “I appreciate this moment kasi may Bumble, may Tinder. There are so many apps where hindi na tayo kailangan tumambay sa mga kung saan-saang kanto para makatagpo ng love. Or hindi na kailangang magsimbang-gabi tayo every night, di ba? Aminin mo yun, girl!” [Translation: “I appreciate this moment because we have Bumble and Tinder already. There are so many apps where we don’t have to go somewhere or be out there physically just to find love. Or we no longer have to attend the simbang gabi every night, right? Admit it girl!”

Olivia Rodrigo

Known for her hit songs “Driver’s License,” “Deja Vu,” and “Traitor,” Olivia Rodrigo also tried using a dating app. But, unlike Zayn and Zac, she used an exclusive, celebrity-only app known as Raya. Still, according to Olivia during a GQ interview, “I had Raya for a second, and it was so vomit. Like, I could not.”

Katy Perry

The “Fireworks” and “Dark Horse” singer admitted to Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club that she got into Tinder after her hiatus with John Mayer, “I’m really deep on Tinder so I don’t have a whole lot of time.” Since that’s a long time ago, it begs the question if Katy is still on the app or not; we’ll never know for sure til you see her profile on it.

Sam Smith

Banned from not one, but two dating apps? Well, that’s on Sam Smith for not going through the complete verification process of both Tinder and Hinge. Sam Smith disclosed the hilarious story during an interview with ET Canada, “I never used Grindr. I did Tinder once, I think I got chucked off of Tinder. I got chucked off of Hinge because they thought that I wasn’t me. Well, I didn’t verify my profile, so I should have done that.”

Camila Cabello

Havana oh na na as Camila signed in and then uninstalled Tinder within just 24 hours! The singer-songwriter admitted during her interview at The Drew Barrymore Show, “I was on a dating app for like 24 hours, then I left. The first guy that DMed me was, like, an aspiring singer-songwriter from Nashville. I was just like, ‘I feel weird because somebody could be using me.’ Does that make sense?”

PAGASA: More Rainfall As The Wet Season Comes

Sugboanons, the wet season comes near.

As the country approaches the onset of the wet season, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a warning to expect more rainfall in the afternoons and evenings. The weather bureau is advising residents to prepare for the transition to the rainy season, which is characterized by increased precipitation in the latter parts of the day.

According to recent reports from state weather forecasters, the country is showing signs of transition from the dry season to the wet season, characterized by increased frequency of rainfalls.

While the southwest monsoon has not yet taken hold, PAGASA suggests that the rainy season may officially begin between late May and early June.

PAGASA has also cautioned that the country may be susceptible to flash floods and landslides due to the expected moderate to heavy rainfall. Furthermore, the state weather agency has announced that the El Niño phenomenon is subsiding, but the country is currently under a La Niña watch.

According to PAGASA, there is still a 60% chance that La Niña will develop between June and August. Thus, they suggest that we shall get prepared for this possible occurrence.

Goin Bulilit Stars: Where Are They Now?

Hint: They’re no longer bulilits!

Photo from ABS-CBN

Goin Bulilit was one of the top sketch comedy television series in the early 2000’s, broadcasted by ABS-CBN. It featured child stars who are newly introduced into the industry of film and television, and it was also the beginning of some of the notable stars in today’s generation.

The first episode of Goin Bulilit aired on February 6, 2005 and it had eight seasons due to it being a hit in Filipino households. Its last episode aired on August 4, 2019 which marked the end of the Goin Bulilit era as its producer, Edgar Montiz, decided to close the curtains for the show.

Five years after its last episode, it begs the question: Where are the bulilits now?

Let’s check out what happened to the stars who graduated from the Philippines’ most adorable gag show:

Alfred Labatos

Remember the kid who usually plays the kuya or father roles in the Goin Bulilit skit? That’d be Alfred! He also starred in Wansapanataym, May Bukas Pa, and Luv U. After starting his journey to fame in the kiddie gag show, he jumped to voiceover acting and became the voices of different Japanese anime and Korean characters in their Filipino adaptations such as Song Woo Bin in “Boys Over Flowers” and Ryu Yamada in “Yamada-Kun & The Seven Witches.”

Carl John Barrameda

After Goin Bulilit, CJ played roles in Maalaala Mo Kaya, Da Adventures of Pedro Penduko, and even in Doble Kara. But, he has since paused his acting career and shifted towards directing. He directed the television series “Road to Starkada” and the music video “Alexis: Happy Together.”

Cha Cha Cañete

Known for being the child model in Camella Homes’ commercial, Cha Cha became famous for her adorable demeanor and has been associated with the song “Bulilit, Sanay Sa Masikip.” She’s 19 years old now and has since graduated from senior high school at the University of Santo Tomas. Outside her TV and film career, Cha Cha pursued voice-acting as she voiced Becky Blackbell in “Spy x Family Code: White” in TV5. She also released a song during the pandemic titled, “Agwat,” which focused on the challenges a couple may encounter and feel when social distancing and lockdowns were still observed.

Kiray Celis

Photo from ABS-CBN & GMA

She was one of the third batch of Goin Bulilit members and soon became one of the funniest comedians in Philippine television. Kiray was under the management of ABS-CBN for 19 years and then transferred to GMA’s Sparkle last 2018 wherein she starred in a rom-com series titled, Love You Two, with Jennilyn Mercado and Gabby Concepcion.

Kristel Fulgar

Photo from ABS-CBN

Now a singer and actor in one, Kristel Fulgar, had been in several television shows and had released a few hits in the music industry. She is also known for her emotionally challenging roles in films such as in the Shake, Rattle, and Roll franchise and in Doble Kara.

Julia Montes

Photo from ABS-CBN

One of the members of Goin Bulilits’ fourth batch, Julia gained popularity after her successful role in Mara Clara, a soap opera where she played the antagonist to Kathryn Bernardo’s role. She also starred in Way Back Home alongside Kath, and soon captured the heart of Philippine-action star, Coco Martin which led to them starting a relationship in 2011. Now, the couple has two kids together and an upcoming third child as Julia confirmed her pregnancy just five months ago.

Kathryn Bernardo

Photo from ABS-CBN

Kath is perhaps one of the most successful in the film and television industry who came from the fifth batch of Goin Bulilit kids. Her bubbly and kind personality became a hit as she starred in shows where she plays the princessy-leading lady and protagonist. Being linked to a loveteam with co-actor Daniel Padilla was also one of the reasons for Kath’s rise to fame, especially since us Filipinos love our rom-coms. However, after 11 years with the actor, Kath broke her silence and announced the end of their relationship. Nevertheless, she is now considered as one of the most empowered women in the industry and is working on a current sequel for the movie Hello Love, Goodbye with rumored suitor, Alden Richards.

Nash & Mika

Both from the seventh batch of Goin’ Bulilit, Nash and Mika have just recently tied the knot! The two have been inseparable since their graduation from the show and have been living private lives with their families. When they posted photos of their wedding ceremony, they broke Philippine social media, prompting an outpouring of congratulations from netizens. The posts also sparked a wave of playful comments about how if the Goin’ Bulilit kids are getting married, then those who grew up watching them must be ready for marriage too.

Sharlene & Miles

Photo from ABS-CBN

Although from different batches of the show, Sharlene and Miles had become close as sisters and they even got nominated in one of the most prestigious awards given by Push for the “#FriendshipGoals of the Year” due to their budding friendship in 2018 and 2019. While Sharlene continuously pursues her hosting career, Miles is constantly hitting films and television shows for her love of acting. The two had won several awards and are some of the growing stars in the industry.

Dagul

Photo from ABS-CBN

Goin Bulilit will not be complete without Dagul! He was the original cast member and he also serves as the guardian of the kids on-set. Now at 65 years old, Dagul continues to uphold being the guardian as he heads the command center of his Barangay and also operates a sari-sari or convenience store.

Goin Bulilit Stars Who Quit Showbiz

Aside from those who succeeded after Goin Bulilit, there were also few of them who decided to quit the showbiz life such as Steven Fermo, Noemi Oineza, Aaron Junatas, Angel Sy, Kobi Vidanes, Barbie Sabino, and many more. Their reasons range from pursuing their educational careers to building their own businesses.

Flagship Benchmark Chip + 1TB Super Large Memory Combination; POCO F6 Pro Flagship Hardware Configuration, Performance Upgraded

POCO recently announced the imminent arrival of its latest flagship phone, the POCO F6 Pro. This phone boasts Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, making it the most powerful POCO device to date.

As the top-of-the-line model in POCO’s flagship series, the F6 Pro is a true all-rounder. It not only maintains the series’ tradition of exceptional performance but also features significant upgrades in design, camera capabilities, and more. Let’s delve into the highlights of this impressive device.

Top-Tier Chip and Ample Memory for Unrestricted Usage

Photo from POCO

This latest flagship mobile platform from Qualcomm boasts numerous technological innovations and breakthroughs, achieving a perfect balance between performance and power efficiency. In AnTuTu benchmark tests, it scores over 1.6 million points, making it the highest-scoring POCO device to date. In real-world usage, the processor performs exceptionally well, effortlessly running large 3D games at high frame rates and ensuring smooth operation of everyday applications.

Photo from POCO

However, hardware performance is just the foundation. Good system optimization and performance scheduling are crucial for long-term stability and smoothness. To address this, the POCO F6 Pro features WildBoost 3.0 and LiquidCool Technology 4.0, which precisely manage processor and RAM resources, resulting in exceptional heat and power consumption control, surpassing most phones in its price range.

With games and applications becoming increasingly demanding, phone storage often becomes a bottleneck, leading to app closures, lag, and insufficient space for large games and files. The F6 Pro addresses this with a generous 16GB+1TB storage combination. The 16GB RAM allows users to run numerous apps simultaneously without experiencing slowdowns, while the massive 1TB storage provides ample space for photos, videos, and applications, transforming the phone into a true mobile storage center. This luxurious memory combination caters to the needs of both heavy gamers and multimedia enthusiasts.

AI Evolution: Embrace the AI Era with Ease

In today’s AI-driven era, a processor’s AI capabilities are crucial. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 excels in this area, featuring a seventh-generation AI engine with a computing power of 17 trillion operations per second, enabling more intelligent AI applications on the F6 Pro.

POCO has embraced the AI era with four key AIGC features: AI Portrait, AI Album Search, AI Album Edit, and Real-time Subtitles.

The AI Portrait feature allows you to create AI-generated avatars from your photos and explore different versions of yourself with simple text descriptions. Having trouble finding specific photos in your vast album? Now you can use text search to locate exactly what you’re looking for. The AI image editing capabilities are equally impressive. Need to add a background to a photo? Use AI to extend the image! Want to remove unwanted objects or people? AI Erase Pro can detect and remove them seamlessly, filling in the scene naturally. Finally, POCO introduces AI Subtitles, which automatically recognize audio from any app on your phone and convert it into text with translations. These features are both fun and practical, putting you ahead of the curve in the AI era.

POCO’s Most Powerful Camera Yet: The Impressive Light Fusion 800

Photo from POCO

The camera system is arguably the most significant upgrade in the POCO F6 Pro. While previous POCO F series cameras performed well, they fell short of flagship standards. The F6 Pro addresses this with the Light Fusion 800 camera, POCO’s most powerful camera to date.

With a large 1/1.55-inch sensor, the Light Fusion 800 delivers a dramatic improvement in image quality compared to its predecessor. With a large 1/1.55-inch sensor, the Light Fusion 800 delivers a revolutionary improvement in image quality compared to its predecessor. Combined with OIS optical image stabilization, it captures stunningly clear photos and videos in daylight and well-lit environments. Even when photographing active pets or playful children, where motion blur is common, the POCO F6 Pro minimizes blur and captures sharp images.

In low-light conditions, such as nighttime or dimly lit interiors, the POCO F6 Pro’s Night Owl algorithm shines. Even when details are barely visible to the naked eye, the phone captures clear images with impressive brightness and clarity.

For parents and pet owners, capturing fleeting moments is crucial. The POCO F6 Pro excels in this aspect, capturing up to 30 photos per second with exceptional clarity and a high success rate. You’ll never miss a precious moment again.

Photo from POCO

Beyond the impressive main camera, the POCO F6 Pro features two powerful auxiliary cameras: an ultra-wide-angle lens and a macro lens. The ultra-wide-angle lens expands your field of view, capturing expansive landscapes and adding depth to your photos. The macro lens, with a minimum focusing distance of 2cm, reveals the intricate details and textures of the microscopic world.

Conclusion: A Versatile Flagship Killer

More importantly, the POCO F series is renowned for its incredible value. Rumor has it that the F6 Pro might be priced under $600, offering comparable features to devices costing nearly twice as much. The price-to-performance ratio is simply outstanding!

Of course, we’ll have to wait for the official global launch event in Dubai on May 23rd to confirm the exact specifications and pricing. If you’re considering a phone upgrade, stay tuned for the latest POCO updates.

What are your thoughts on the POCO F6 Pro’s value proposition? Which feature excites you the most? What’s your expected price range for this device? Share your thoughts and join the discussion in the comments below!
