Cebuano schools are rumored to have bone-chilling horror stories, and paranormal enthusiasts are getting crazy about them!

The Horrors in Cebuano Schools
Countless urban legends surround Cebuano schools, one of which are horror stories circulated orally, which includes the rumored construction of most schools atop old cemeteries, ghost sightings, and rumored murder killings inside these places.
However, one chilling story has stood out among these horror narratives, and it is the story of Minda Mora. But who is she?
Photo generated by Freepik
According to the alleged eyewitnesses and certified Cebuano marites, Minda Mora was a student of a well-renowned school in Cebu who was fond of performing arts. Unfortunately, one day…
She never came home.
The Misery and Wrath of a Girl
Photo generated by Freepik
Her excellence in the field came along with Minda Mora’s fascination with the performing arts. However, fate is truly envious of geniuses. So, one night, she stayed late in school for a stage rehearsal, and unfortunately, she never came home.
According to some oral accounts, Minda Mora was rumored to have been raped and killed by the school’s security guards in the theater center she was in. However, some narratives say that different individuals murdered her.
Her cruel fate and love for performing arts tied her resentment and wrath to the school’s cultural arts center. Apparently, when a person or a group of people interrupts an inexperienced performer, the ghost of Minda Mora will allegedly do something bad to them days after the performance.
Since then, brash comments, interruptions, and clamors during performances in the school’s cultural centers were never heard of again.
— Horror stories have become integral to Filipino culture since the olden days. Parents even use some of them to instill discipline in their children, while some historical hearsays state that the Spaniards used them to scare the natives so they could do their bidding when the natives hid in their homes after being scared by these stories.
How about you, Sugboanon? Do you believe in the myth of Minda Mora? Or do you have any interesting and chilling horror stories? Share them in the comment section down below!

In a world where being open and authentic to oneself can be challenging, Jason Mraz, a singer who is known for his heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies and the artist behind hits like “I’m Yours” and “Lucky,” revealed that he is bisexual.
Facing the Stigma of the 90’s
Photo from Jason Mraz’s Official Instagram
For many years, Jason dated both men and women, but he didn’t talk much about it because he feared being mocked. Bisexuality in the 90’s was considered as part of a punchline, according to Mraz. He grew up on a conservative street in Virginia and didn’t want to disappoint his parents. However, when he married his ex-wife Christina Carano in 2015, it turns out that she became more than his wife but also a confidante who helped him understand and accept his bisexuality. His wife called it “two spirits,” a term used by native Americans for someone who loves both men and women.

When Jason shared this part of his life, many fans and artists supported him. Known for his songs about love and happiness, Mraz made many people feel connected to him. It also helped others who were struggling with their own sexuality feel less alone.
By sharing his story, Mraz helped many fans, including those unsure about their sexuality, to face the challenges with bravery. They felt encouraged to accept themselves and live honestly, just like Mraz.

Jason Mraz continues to spread messages of love and acceptance. His openness about being bisexual shows his commitment to these values. He wants everyone to feel love and be accepted no matter who they are or who they love. Honesty and courage make the world a better place for everyone.

— Traveling to other countries is a fun thing to do, but we should remember that we need to be careful during our trip to truly enjoy our tour. We should also be especially cautious to travel to other places now, since our country’s weather has started to become unstable due to the presence of hanging Habagat (Southwest Monsoon).
Cebuano fashion has always been a controversial topic for many Filipinos and Cebuanos alike, especially that the country is highly conservative due to the large influence of Catholic teachings. However, as eons went by, our fashion culture is slowly breaking out the norms of the country.

Hence, we went on the busy streets of Cebu and asked the people of Cebu about their personal perspective on its current fashion scene.
An Expression
Princess Christine Literato shared that right now, fashion is how Cebuanos express themselves. Similarly, both Yoshi Cañete and Josh Plariza shared the same insights.
Moreover, Rizelle Caumeran shared that fashion is also a Cebuano’s outlet of expression. Like the way she dresses is how she expresses herself, it’s like how she’s telling the world who she is through the way she dresses.
Mackabuang or also known as Mack also views fashion in the same light as Princess and the other three. He remarked that fashion is “being who you are and how you express yourself.”
Additionally, Kamille Bascar, also views fashion as a self-expression. Further stating that fashion is an art and it’s an outlet one can express himself/herself or just “a way to be who you are.”
Further proving this point, Clarence expressed that fashion is an art, since art is how people express themselves and the way Cebuano people use fashion as an outlet for their personality, then fashion is truly an art.
Adaptation
Sniwel John Lenix Cartagena shared his sentiments that the fashion in Cebu is largely affected by the climate and weather of the country. That the clothing that an individual wears is dependent on how hot or how cold the surrounding environment is. This has also shown how versatile Cebuano fashion can be.
Pop Culture
Andrie Elizalde, who is apparently just a visitor of Cebu, shared his insights on the Cebuano fashion scene. He was actually impressed by the Cebuano fashion scene. According to him, our fashion is largely influenced by pop culture. Further adding that our current pop preferences are what’s affecting our personal choice of clothing.
Western Influence
For a high school student, the current fashion scene of Cebu is now slowly adapting to the Western influence, that the current generation of Cebuanos are integrating the Western style of dressing. She further added that the Western influence might be because of thrift stores that are mostly selling clothing that are largely influenced by Western fashion.

— The Cebuano fashion scene is rapidly evolving due to numerous factors, but the question remains, is this a good thing for Cebuano culture? Well, time will tell. For now, let us just relish and enjoy the colorful fashion scene of modern Cebu.
