Managing your telco needs can be a constant balancing act. From paying your postpaid bills or buying prepaid load to ensuring your internet connection stays uninterrupted, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by the endless details and deadlines that demand your attention each month. When these small but essential tasks slip through the cracks, the consequences—such as service interruptions and late payment fees—can be frustrating to deal with.
The good news is taking control of your monthly telco needs doesn’t have to be complicated. With a few smart strategies, you can ensure everything runs smoothly every billing cycle. Let’s take a look at practical ways you can manage your mobile, landline, and internet services more efficiently:
Set Reminders for Billing Cycles
One of the simplest yet most effective strategies for managing your telco bills is to set reminders for billing cycles. Using your smartphone’s built-in calendar or a task management app, you can schedule recurring reminders a few days before each bill is due. This gives you ample time to review your bills, check for any discrepancies, and make the payments way before the deadline. With this approach, you can avoid unnecessary stress and ensure your services remain uninterrupted.
Another thing you can do is opt for paperless billing. Most telco providers offer this service, which means you can receive notifications about your bill directly in your email, mobile number, or through the provider’s app. Going paperless reduces the risk of missed payments due to lost physical bills. This multi-layered method enhances the way you track your telco services’ respective billing cycles.
Pay Using Digital Banks or E-Wallets
Many digital banks and e-wallets partner with telco companies, as well as other service providers, to provide their users a convenient way to manage their utilities. Due to this collaboration, customers are able to settle their bills directly through their apps, simplifying the payment process. Leveraging these platforms not only eliminates the hassle of physically going to a payment center but also reduces the likelihood of late payments due to scheduling conflicts or unforeseen circumstances.
The Maya app, for instance, makes it easy for users to pay for their postpaid plans, telephone bills, and internet bills. Aside from this, the app also allows users to buy prepaid load. By tapping “Load” on the homepage, you can select the telco provider and purchase regular load or choose a load promo that suits your needs.
Keep a Load Buffer (For Prepaid Users)
If you’re a prepaid phone user, you have to learn to use your load credits more effectively to ensure uninterrupted service. One smart strategy is to maintain a load buffer, or a small reserve of balance that you keep on your account at all times. This practice prevents you from running out of load at inconvenient times, such as during an important call or while trying to access crucial information online. When you consistently maintain this buffer, you can have peace of mind knowing that you have enough credit for emergencies or last-minute needs.
Review Your Due Dates Regularly
While setting reminders can help you stay organized, it’s equally important to make a habit of periodically checking your payment schedules and account details. Because of holidays and other factors, your billing deadlines will not always fall on the same days. Thus, regularly reviewing your due dates helps you stay informed so that you can prevent any surprises that may arise from late payments or service interruptions. It also gives you a chance to review your payment history and ensure that all payments have been processed correctly. Mistakes can happen and catching them early can save you from unnecessary penalties or complications.
To make this process easier, consider creating a dedicated calendar or spreadsheet that lists all your providers’ respective due dates. This may include any upcoming promotions or discounts that may apply. Doing this is also a simple but effective way to visualize your financial commitments for the month ahead. You can also engage in regular check-ins with your telco provider to confirm that your account details are up-to-date or inquire about any changes to your services or pricing.
Budget Ahead for Monthly Telco Expenses
Having a predictable budget for your monthly telco expenses can help you maintain control over your finances. It provides you with an overview of your spending, ensuring that you can meet your communication needs without stress. Start by reviewing your current telco plans and services to identify the average monthly costs associated with each one. This includes not just postpaid and prepaid bills but also any additional charges that may arise, such as extra data charges. Once this is done, it will be easier to set aside a specific amount each month dedicated solely to your telco needs.
In addition to setting aside funds, consider evaluating your current plans and usage habits to determine if you’re getting the best value for your money. If you notice that you’re consistently underutilizing your postpaid plan, for instance, you may want to consider downgrading to a less expensive option. Conversely, if you often find yourself exceeding your limits, it might be time to upgrade to a more suitable plan. This way, you can assess your telco expenses and adjust your budget accordingly, making your monthly telco costs more manageable.
Taking proactive steps to stay on top of your telco payments will not only help you better manage your finances but also ensure that you can fulfill your obligations as efficiently as possible. With these practical strategies, you can simplify your telco management and reduce the risk of late payments and unexpected costs.
WinZir, one of the leading online gaming platforms in the Philippines, is taking a step beyond entertainment with the launch of its “Bet for a Cause” initiative. Through this new program, WinZir aims to turn betting into an opportunity for positive change by supporting education and welfare efforts in underprivileged communities across the country.
Beginning in October, for every deposit made on the platform, ₱1 will be donated to charitable causes, with the full amount shouldered by WinZir—at no cost to players. This initiative reflects WinZir’s commitment to making a meaningful impact in society by using its platform to drive real-world improvements.
Purpose and Allocation of Funds
“Bet for a Cause” will focus on three key areas of support:
Educational Supplies and Equipment for Remote Areas – Providing much-needed learning materials and tools to students in underserved regions.
Basic Needs for Children’s Welfare Organizations and Homes for the Aged – Offering support in the form of food, care, and other necessities for vulnerable groups, ensuring they receive the attention and resources they need.
School Infrastructure Improvements – Assisting in the construction and upgrading of essential facilities, including classrooms and libraries, to enhance learning environments in underfunded schools.
How the Program Works
For every deposit made by a player on WinZir’s platform, ₱1 will be contributed to these causes. Players’ accounts will not be charged for this donation, as the contribution will come directly from WinZir. The gaming company is also kickstarting the initiative with a ₱500,000 seed fund, demonstrating its commitment to driving real change.
As of October 31, the initiative has raised a total of ₱667,000, thanks to the support of the WinZir community. This impressive amount will go towards creating impactful improvements in the targeted areas.
A Call to Make a Difference
“Bet for a Cause” is more than just a charitable program—it’s a call to the WinZir community to come together and support those in need. By playing on the platform, WinZir’s users will be actively participating in efforts to improve education, enhance facilities, and care for vulnerable groups, turning every bet into a meaningful contribution to society.
With this initiative, WinZir reaffirms its dedication to using its platform for the greater good. As players enjoy their gaming experience, they can now also be part of a broader mission to help create a better future for communities in need.
Through “Bet for a Cause,” WinZir aims to build a lasting legacy of support and empowerment, proving that gaming can indeed be a force for good.

GERONA PUNTA BEACH
Gerona Punta Beach in Tuburan showcases the Philippines’ stunning natural beauty. This captivating location not only offers a unique setting for breathtaking sunsets but also features a grove of palm trees that line the campground, providing a picturesque view of the open sea.
The National Museum of the Philippines-Cebu is one of the newest educational attractions in the Queen City of the South. It’s housed in the century-old Aduana building, which was originally Malacañang sa Sugbo. Plus, it’s conveniently located right across from Plaza Independencia and Fort San Pedro, both of which are historic landmarks in their own right!
Unlike its counterpart in Manila, this museum focuses specifically on artifacts from Cebu island and its surrounding seas. You’ll discover treasures from sunken ships, ceramics from Sugbo burial grounds, and so much more.
The best part? Admission is free for everyone! Just keep in mind that there are some rules and regulations to help preserve these incredible items for future generations; and here are some of them along with tips for your visit to our Sugbuanon museum:
Avoid bringing big or bulky bags
The museum is not equipped with a personal locker for your belongings, so it’s best for you to just opt to bring a small pouch that you can dangle infront of you. This rule is to make sure that accidents will be avoided at all costs since the items in the museum are valuable. Also, you will be required to leave your tumblers and umbrellas at the table near the entrance.
Pets are not allowed
Even if your dear furbaby is potty-trained or is wearing a diaper, or can be placed inside a tiny carrier bag, they are still not permitted to enter the museum premises.
No video recording
In the age of TikTok, it’s no wonder that even a 3-second clip using your own mobile phone is prohibited to be done inside the museum—to avoid accidentally toppling over the displays. In addition, professional cameras and recording devices are also not allowed to be brought inside, and, PLEASE KEEP YOUR PHONE FLASH OFF when taking photos as there are items in the museum which are considered light-sensitive.
No painting or crafting inside the museum
For artists like me, it can be tempting to bring your art materials to paint something that gets your interest, but, NO, you are not permitted to do so. This is in line with the intent to keep the premises clean and disruptions from foot traffic; you gotta keep the people walking or moving all throughout the museum for a good experience.
If you’re in a group of 20 or more, BOOK AHEAD
For individuals or small friend groups, booking in advance isn’t necessary, but keep in mind that the museum has a policy in place. You will need to line up, and the staff will count the number of guests before allowing entry. This is done to manage the crowd inside the museum. So, if your group has 20 or more people, be sure to book a specific time and date to ensure everyone can enter together.
Wear flat and comfortable shoes
On an average stroll around the museum, it can take you up to 1 hour if you’ll be examining each item and read each description. So, better choose to wear a comfortable set of footwear; leave the heels at home. In addition, the wooden floors are a tad bit too shiny, so, maybe choose a pair of shoes with rubber soles under it—I learned the hard way.
Do NOT touch the items
Keep your hands away from the items, better yet keep them behind you to lessen the urge of touching stuff. Also, most displays have designated “DO NOT CROSS” lines, so watch out for them to keep yourself out of trouble,
Detailed List of Prohibited Items
Gallery Information
There are FIVE galleries inside the museum that you can peruse and enjoy:
GALLERY 1: Kinaiyahan, Cebu’s Natural Wonders
The first gallery is centered around plants and animals, whether it’s from those that dwell on land, sea, or thrive on air. You can find unique and endemic species.
GALLERY 2: Ang Karaang Sugbo ug Ang Mga Kabiling Bahandi
Think burial items and everything that has been within the lands of the past Cebu. There are even maps and items that’ll bring you back in time before and during the colonization.
GALLERY 3: Paglawig: Cultural Movement Across the Seas
Ethnographic traditions in maritime history and industry are the focus on this gallery.
Gallery 4: Pagkaon
Gallery 4 is often allocated for feature exhibits, and this time, we were greeted by various photos of food that graced the Filipino and Sugboanon culture. From the tasty lechon to the crowd-favorite siomai and dimsum, up to the latest food photography trends, they’ve got it all.
Gallery 5: Ang Kamamugnaon ug Kinaadman ni Maestro Tinong
For fine arts enthusiasts and artists, gallery 5 is like heaven as it showcases the works of Martino “Tinong” Abellana, also known as the “Dean of Cebuano Painters.” It even has the last portrait that he made, which unfortunately was unfinished, along with his set of brushes and painting materials.

#HealingMyInnerChild, proceeds to buy thousand-peso worth concert tickets…
A viral video on X.com (formerly Twitter) shows an adult buying many toys at a famous toy shop in the Philippines after receiving his salary. The video sparked a heated debate when one netizen asked, “Bakit kaya kapag sinabing “healing my inner child,” kailangan konektado konsumerismo?” (Why is it that when someone says they’re ‘healing their inner child,’ it has to involve consumerism?)
This question received a variety of reactions online. Many users sided with the original poster, arguing that not everyone had the opportunity to buy toys as children, and now that they have the financial means, they’re indulging in their childhood dreams. Others defended the poster’s choices, saying that how one chooses to spend their salary is nobody’s business but their own. However, it does beg the question: is it truly an act of “healing our inner child” or is it just a made-up reason for the financially irresponsible?
The Psychology of Toy Buying
Many videos are circulating online nowadays which touches on our childhood nostalgia, which is concerning from a psychological point of view since there seems to be an increased longing for the past as opposed to dreaming of what can be done in the present and future. Although reconnecting with childhood interests can be therapeutic, it should not be done constantly or as a way to cope with the stresses, anxiety, and pressures of modern life.
Still, like all things, there is a way to find the right balance for it. The key is to find healthy ways to indulge without compromising one’s financial well-being. If you’re unsure, here are a few suggestions you can take note:
Set a Clear Budget: Once you have a specific amount in mind for self-care activities, including toy purchases, stay within it. This helps ensure that indulgence doesn’t lead to financial problems.
Consider Experiences Over Materials: How about instead of buying toys or items, choose to purchase experiences instead such as going on a trip or attending a workshop for a new hobby. Doing so will not only add joy to your life but also a usable experience in the future.
Moderation Is the Key: It’s okay to enjoy toys and nostalgic items, but moderation is important. Choose a few meaningful items rather than a large quantity.
So, Sugboanons, what’s your take on this debate? Is it nurturing your inner child, or just being financially irresponsible? Share it in the comments below!

Every November, as another month flipped over our calendar, us Filipinos would visit cemeteries to gather around the final resting place of our loved ones who passed away. We share stories, songs of hope, and even share a meal while sitting on the grass and stone chairs. And every year, our mothers, fathers, and grandparents would remind us to stop by the “Dakong Krus” or the “Big Cross,” usually standing tall at the center of the cemetery; but, why do we do it?
A Symbol of Hope and Remembrance
The Philippines is a predominantly Christian country, with most people identifying as Catholic. Many of us believe in an afterlife where souls can go to heaven, hell, or remain in purgatory. This belief is one reason why we light candles at the Dakong Krus—to offer hope for those who are not remembered, unnamed, or unknown.
The Dakong Krus isn’t just a marker; it serves as a beacon of hope. As we gather around it, it becomes a place of reflection. There is even a belief that one should light an odd number of candles, never in pairs or even numbers. When I asked my mother about this tradition, she simply replied, “Maoy ingon sa katiguwangan,” meaning it’s what our ancestors used to do. And over time, it has become a cherished tradition.
Other Cultures Celebrating the Dead
Different cultures observe varying traditions. In the Philippines, we call it the “Undas” or “Kalag-Kalag” in Bisaya, while in other places, here are their own:
Día de los Muertos
Celebrated in Mexico and Guatemala, “Dia de los Muertos” or the “Day of the Dead” is a celebration where families create altars called “ofrendas” filled with food, photos, and other items that they associate with the deceased. Marigold flowers, sugar skulls, and decorative banderitas are the decors present in the celebration to welcome the spirits. If you’ve seen “Coco,” then that’s exactly what it is.
Ognissanti (All Saints’ Day)
Italians honor the deceased by visiting graves and placing flowers, particularly chrysanthemums, on them. In some regions, families prepare special foods and pastries to share in remembrance.
Obon
This Japanese festival honors ancestors and is celebrated with dances, lanterns, and offerings. Families clean graves and prepare special meals to welcome the spirits of their loved ones back home.
Fête Gede
This voodoo festival honors the dead and the spirits known as Gede in Haiti. Participants often dress in purple, visit graves, and make offerings to the spirits to ensure they are remembered.
Pitru Paksha
This Hindu tradition involves performing rituals for deceased ancestors. Families prepare special meals and offer them to the spirits, seeking blessings for the living.
Chuseok
During this Korean harvest festival, families honor their ancestors by visiting their graves, cleaning them, and offering food as a sign of respect and gratitude.
So, Sugboanons, this All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days, remember to light a candle under the towering cross. Let your light be the hope for the souls that may have been forgotten, and let our traditions be passed onto the next generations.

“to live even within the pop culture so beloved by our youth,” Archbishop Fisichella shared about Luce.
Yes, you read that right, the holy church of the Vatican just released a Catholic anime mascot for next year’s Jubilee!
Archbishop Rino Fisichella unveiled “Luce,” the cartoon mascot for Holy Year 2025 designed by Simone Legno. Her name means “light” in Italian, and is aimed to symbolize hope and faith, as well as highlight the importance of connecting contemporary culture and traditional spiritual belief.
What Is Luce Made Out Of
Luce will debut at Lucca Comics and Games and represent the Holy See at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan. And if you’re wondering what each part of her outfit represents, then we’ve got you:
Yellow raincoat & green mud-stained boots represent the colors of the Vatican flag alongside “journey through life’s storms.”
Colorful rosary and pilgrim’s staff symbolizes the strong Catholic faith.
Scallop-shell eyes are the traditional symbols of hope and pilgrimage.
Netizen’s Take on Luce
Anime fans with a Catholic background have warmly embraced Luce, captivated by her charming personality and positive representation. However, some netizens have expressed concerns about the implications of her name. While “Luce” means “light,” it has a linguistic connection to “Lucifer,” a name often associated with the fallen angel. This sparked a conversation online about the symbolism behind names. Although fans love Luce as a mascot, they shared that it’s also important to consider who is representing us and the messages that names can convey.
So, what do you think about this new addition for the upcoming 2025 Jubilee? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

The snaps and reels captured all the laughter, joy, and those luxurious grins that made our celebration even more unforgettable.
