Thank You, Beyonce: Here’s What Netizens Are Saying About the Issue

0

She knows, she knows, I know she knows…

The internet is going out of hand for the “Thank You, Beyonce” trend. But, how did everything start?

Well, it all began when conspiracy theories about Beyonce and Jay-Z resurfaced, specifically reports about the couple being involved with P Diddy, a rapper and record producer who’s facing charges for sexual misconduct allegations.

As each day passes, more and more videos and stories are being posted online to support the theory, and here are some of them:

Eliminating Artists Who Failed to Pay Tribute

Some believe that artists who haven’t properly acknowledged Beyoncé and Jay-Z have faced unfortunate consequences, including career sabotage or even untimely deaths. Stars like Michael Jackson, Tupac, Aaliyah, and Left Eye allegedly were ordered to be killed because of the race to fame. Additionally, MJ, Aaliyah, and Left Eye died on the 25th day of the month, which added to more speculations to their deaths being pre-planned.

Charice Pempengco’s Transition

Some netizens pointed out that Charice Pempengco’s abrupt pause in the industry was due to Beyonce and Jay-Z’s interference, including the death of Pempengco’s father. This then led to Charice transitioning to Jake Zyrus wherein his career declined even more.

Kanye West and Taylor Swift Incident

There’s a theory that the action of Kanye interrupting Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards was because TS did not mention Beyonce during her speech. In another awards ceremony, TS did the interruption while she’s part of the audience during the speech of Harry Styles, seemingly hinting that she is giving back the “protection” that Kanye initially gave to her.

Justin Bieber’s Harassment

Allegations have surfaced claiming they harassed Justin Bieber at a party in the early 2010s. Witnesses described a tense atmosphere where Bieber was made to feel uncomfortable, fueling rumors of trouble between the young star at that time and the power couple. There were even reports suggesting that young Justin was molested during the same party when he was borrowing the Ferrari.

P Diddy’s Trial Date Has Been Set

The date will be on May 5, 2025, according to Judge Arun Subramanian during their ruling at the Manhattan Federal Court. It was shared that there were more than 50 victims of sexual assaults done by P Diddy or Sean Combs along with his associates or cohorts.

“The acts complained of occurred at hotels, private homes, and also at the infamous P.Diddy ‘Freak Off’ parties. The violations against this group of individuals are mind-boggling and can only be described as debauchery and depravity, exacted by powerful people against minors and the weak.”

The Buzbee Law Firm shared on Instagram

How Everything Has Been Exposed, Unknowing to the Public

If your TikTok feed has been filled with songs by Eminem and J Cole, then that’s exactly because those are related to the issue. Both songs include parts where they seemingly expose what was happening even before the birth of Gen-Z’s.

On J Cole’s song, he was hinting on the death of MJ, Aaliyah, and Left Eye, along with what fans speculated to be the name of the killer which was “She” and “Knows,” a play on the names “Shawn” for Jay-Z and “Knowles” for Beyonce.

While, on Eminem’s song “Fuel,” a part of the lyrics indicated his telling on P Diddy and mentioning the deaths of Biggie and Tupac with the words, “R.I.P., rest in peace, Biggie and Pac, both of y’all should be living.”

In addition, videos of Britney Spears, Adele, and Lizzo giving out their speeches with frightened and unsure faces on stage began circulating once again, as well as a clip of Ellen talking to P Diddy after what they do on an after-party.

The Trend of Thanking Beyonce

The phrase “Thank you, Beyonce” reached a viral status simply because some netizens are taking the topic as a way for them to be part of the trend. As stated, when a winning performer thanks Beyonce, that performer will be spared from being put down. So, trendsetters began doing it wherein they would be congratulated and they’d respond, not with a mere grateful remark but the statement, “Thank you, Beyonce” to avoid being killed.

But, as more talks come in from the involvement of Beyonce and Jay-Z in the heinous acts of P Diddy, the trend actually raises a question about the power dynamics in the music industry and the safety of the lives of celebrities behind closed curtains.

What do you think, Sugboanons? Do you believe in the allegations or are they just made-up stuff to piggyback on conspiracies? Share your thoughts in the comments below; and, oh, THANK YOU, BEYONCE!

Cook Up or Hook Up: What Does “Cebu Food Web Trend” Mean?

0

Here’s a clear and proper scenario; your partner once dated the person you know, and that person could have once dated the person they know, and then that other person could have once dated the person that other person knows.

Why make it sound difficult?!

WHAT IS CEBU FOOD WEB?

You’re thinking it all wrong. No! This doesn’t have anything to do with food. Kids! Stop reading when you reach this part….

Because Cebu Food Web isn’t about a taste in food, but instead a taste in people. Romantically and sexually. Many mistake it for a food critic site, only to be corrected that it’s actually a dating trend.

Composed via Canva

Picture this: You are dating a most gorgeous and handsome partner, but little did you know, your partner once dated someone you know. Could be your friend, a relative, or an old friend from the past. But that’s not all—in the other way around, little did your partner know, you once dated someone he/she knows. A cousin? A friend? A classmate? Let’s just say it’s a classmate. And then that classmate once dated your partner’s old classmate. Now that you’re in your partner’s life, his/her classmate could be dating your old friend as well.

It’s all about mutuality. A “coincidental” encounter. Cebu is a small world, and everyone is connected in some way or another.

THIS SECTION IS RATED R-18

Here’s the essence of this trend: it originally wasn’t about the person you’re romantically involved with. It is all about something sexual—in other cases, a “one-time thing”. But then you discover that you might have hooked up with an ex of a friend or even an ex of your ex.

So, here’s a piece of advice for you, Sugboanons: perhaps it’s best to avoid dating people from the same city. You never know which date might come with unexpected connections!

“Dancing Queen” Is NOT a Song for Mama Mary: The Julie Anne San Jose Church Concert

1

“You’re a teaser, you turn them on…”

A recent video of Julie Anne San Jose received backlash from netizens; why? Because “Asia’s Limitless Star” wore a backless, fitted glittery gown with a slit, while singing the ABBA hit, “Dancing Queen” at a Catholic church altar! There were even moving head lights surrounding the altar itself, imitating what a concert looks like.

According to Sparkle GMA Artist Center’s post, “She brought the sparkle as the special guest performer at the ‘Heavenly Harmony in Concert’ (Harana para kay Maria) held at Nuestra Señora Del Pilar Shrine, Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro.”

The post garnered angry reactions from netizens and comments relating to the Code of Canon Law including the fact that the song “Dancing Queen” has lyrics not applicable to be used for worship nor to be sung inside sacred premises.

What Is The Code of Canon Law?

Photo from the National Catholic Register

The Code of Canon Law is a set of laws governing the Catholic Church and according to Can. 1210, “Only those things which serve the exercise or promotion of worship, piety, or religion are permitted in a sacred place; anything not consonant with the holiness of the place is forbidden. In an individual case, however, the ordinary can permit other uses which are not contrary to the holiness of the place.”

Although the intent of Julie Anne was to celebrate and sing a joyous song for Mary and the public, the outfit she wore and the song choice wasn’t consonant to where the performance was held. But, it should also be noted that the second portion of the Canon indicated that as long as it is permitted by the ordinary or church officer, then contrary uses not related to the “holiness” of the church can be done.

Other celebrities who received negative feedback from the public with regards to the usage of a church’s premises included Sabrina Carpenter in her “Feather” music video and Le Sserafim’s “Easy” song where religious imagery can be seen as part of their video.

So, what’s your take on this, Sugboanons? Should churches allow similar performances AT THE ALTAR, or should religious premises be guarded against such actions? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Flashlights OFF: Concert & Theater Etiquette That Should Be Common Sense

0

To everyone, Cue Jessie J’s “Flashlight” feat. the Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights.” Best…

Screengrab from Jen Barangan’s post

The latest chika circulating the internet isn’t about Olivia Rodrigo’s concert in the Philippines; it’s about the anger of netizens surrounding a certain “Jen Barangan.” The social media personality attended the GUTS Tour, vibing to Olivia’s songs, but instead of simply enjoying the experience, she recorded herself with her phone—and with the FLASH on! This prompted a wave of complaints about her lack of respect and the privilege she displayed.

Photo from Olivia Rodrigo’s Official Instagram Page

So, what are the unwritten commandments of concert and theater etiquette that everyone should abide by? Let’s get into the netizens’ hot takes on concert conduct:

Practice Good Hygiene

Photo from Canva

Concerts are a shared space, and no one wants to feel trapped next to someone who skipped showering or failed putting on a deodorant. A little personal care goes a long way in making the experience enjoyable for everyone; and no, please avoid drenching yourself in a perfume that also hurts our sense of smell!

Don’t Block People

Photo from Canva

We get it—you want the perfect Instagram shot, but don’t be that person who decides to stand in the aisle. Remember, your enthusiasm shouldn’t come at the expense of someone else’s view. And when it comes to theater experiences, please don’t stand when it’s not even the time for an intermission.

Don’t Throw Things at the Stage

Your bias would love to receive gifts from you, but please keep it safe and avoid anything that could turn a moment of joy into a potential hazard.

Respect Each Other

Photo from Canva

You’re not the only one there! Everyone is there to enjoy the music and spectacle, so let’s keep the good vibes flowing and respect each other’s space. In addition to that, make sure that your phone is in silent mode when you’re in a theater performance, because there’s nothing worse than causing a disturbance to the actors on stage and being the reason for them to forget their lines!

And LASTLY, Put Your Phone Down!

Photo from Canva

This one’s a classic. Sure, we love capturing memories, but sometimes it’s better to soak in the experience without a screen in front of your face. Plus, the artist deserves to see your full attention! And, above all, the people around you also paid for the tickets to SEE the concert, so, keep your phone down and your camera lights away from the crowd! If you want to record yourself singing along, maybe a 3-second clip will do, not 30 or an entire minute of a song.

Photo from Jen Barangan’s Official

So, while Jen Barangan may have sparked a conversation with her flash-fueled antics, followed by her not-so favorable “apology” post, let’s not forget that every concert is a shared experience meant to be enjoyed together. Next time you’re out enjoying live music, remember these unspoken rules, Sugboanons—and maybe, just maybe, LET THE FLASH STAY OFF!
