The bread borne out of good intentions.
Described to be a “ready-to-eat-complete meal” for everyone, Nutribun is known to be used in the public elementary school feeding programs to combat child malnutrition.
With the nation’s fight against the pandemic COVID-19, San Miguel Corporation (SMC), apart from donating equipment and goods, they also announced the revival of Nutribun for distribution to charity drives and vulnerable communities in Metro Manila. Such will also be handed out to some families who have either no access to or are unable to afford food during this crisis.
“This isn’t about making profits. We have a responsibility to make sure that food is made available to as many people as possible,”
SMC President Ramon Ang said.
“This is safe, sufficient, and nutritious food for the hardest-hit families facing hunger as a result of the COVID-19 crisis,”
Ang said describing the 250-calorie Nutribun.
The SMC will also continue food production and run it 24/7 to provide access to most goods in the supermarkets. Moreso, they are also continuing to distribute canned food, coffee, and biscuits to LGUs, checkpoints, and hospitals with Metro Manila.
Their beneficiaries include:
- Philippine General Hospital
- Philippine Children’s Medical Center
- Quirino Memorial Medical Center
- Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center
- Las Piñas General Hospital
- St. Luke’s Medical Center
- The Medical City
- Mandaluyong LGU
- Parañaque LGU
- Eastern Police District
- Northern Police District
- Camp Karingal
“We will continue to step up and find creative ways to help the neediest and most vulnerable,” said Ang. “We have the means, we just have to work together to win this battle.”
May we also do our part as citizens of this nation. Let us pray for one another and do the littlest that we can to win this battle which is to stay at home and stay safe.
