The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a significant development, announced yesterday, June 4, 2024, that Filipinos can now enjoy an extended travel period to Taiwan for another year, until July 31, 2025, with a maximum stay of 14 days!

However, certain passport holders, such as officials, service passport holders, and diplomatic passport holders, are not eligible for the aforementioned visa exemption.

“MOFA will continue to review and fine-tune visa policies, with a view to strengthening bilateral exchanges and attracting more visitors while ensuring border and public security,” the ministry stated. “MOFA will also continue to communicate with the governments of related countries to enhance visa treatment for Taiwan nationals and make their overseas travel more convenient,” they added.

Since August 1, 2023, Taiwan has been progressively opening its doors to Filipinos. This has been reflected in the regular updates to its annual visa-free bulletin, as Taiwan eases its borders for international travelers and continues to recover from the aftermath of the 2020 pandemic.
