The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) wants to extend the SIM card registration deadline. According to Anna Mae Lamentillo, Information Undersecretary, only 25 percent of subscribers are registered, which is why an extension might be necessary.

As per Lamentillo, DICT might extend the SIM registration for another 120 days. For now, there is no news on whether the registration will be extended, and they are focusing on increasing the number of registrants before the original April 26 deadline.

NTC reported that as of March 7, only 24.54 percent of SIMs had been registered. For Smart Communications, 31 percent have registered, Dito has 24 percent of registrants, and Globe has reported that 87.87 million of its users have registered.
