If our dogs can catch COVID-19, will our cats do the same?
After the stir caused by the second case of COVID-19 amongst dogs, we have yet another pet who tested positive with COVID-19, a cat.
According to the Brussels Times, a house cat tested positive after being infected by its owner in Liege Belgium. It was reported that it’s owner had a travel history in Italy and was showing symptoms of the pandemic thereafter. The pet cat also started showing symptoms of COVID-19 a week after.
They tested the cat’s feces and showed positive for COVID-19. Thankfully, both the cat and its owner are already showing improvement and are on their way to recovery.
Though this has raised more concerns about this pandemic, scientists reassure everyone that this is a rare case and should not be feared. Nonetheless, let us be cautious and always practice proper hygiene.
Let us just continue praying for those who have been infected with the virus and the whole world.
