Cebu City now placed under MECQ until July 31

President Rodrigo Duterte approved on Wednesday the recommendation of the Inter-agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to place Cebu City under “modified enhanced community quarantine” (MECQ) from July 16 to July 31, 2020.

There are no changes on the quarantine classifications for other towns and cities in Cebu. Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, Talisay City, Consolacion, and Minglanilla are still placed under GCQ while the rest of the Province of Cebu remains under MGCQ.

  • Cebu City – Modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ)
  • Mandaue City – General community quarantine (GCQ)
  • Lapu-Lapu City – General community quarantine (GCQ)
  • Cebu Province
    • Talisay City, Minglanilla, Consolacion: General community quarantine (GCQ)
    • Other areas in Cebu Province: Modified general community quarantine (MGCQ)

Under MECQ:

  • Limited movement within the zone for obtaining services and work
  • Maximum of 50% operations of selected industries will be allowed
  • Limited transportation for essential goods and services
  • Limited transportation for those going to work and for essential services
  • Suspension of physical classes in all levels

Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella just released the new Executive Order No. 84 with the specific MECQ Guidelines.

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has recently issued Executive Order No. 20 on July 9, 2020 specifying guidelines for the movement of people and opening of businesses in the Cebu Province under the new modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) status.

  4. I’m a residence of at Carcar City, Cebu now & I want to visit my parents which are residing at Cordova, Cebu. In connection,may I ask what are the possible documents or requirements should I comply so that i can pass every borders/check points I’ll be passing?If I’m not mistaken I’ll pass thru this cities/municipalities which are San Fernando, Naga City, Minglanilla, Talisay, Cebu City, Mandaue City & Lapu-Lapu City.

    In addition, do I need to ask a vehicle quarantine pass here in our municipalities for my vehicle even these places which I’ll be passing are already in MGCQ/GCQ categories excluding the Cebu City which still under MECQ? Wish to hear from you soon. Thank you & more power.
