Free public Wifi in Plaza Sugbo and Plaza Independencia to be delayed until November.
Free WiFi Delayed
A free public WiFi was set to be implemented in select areas of Plaza Sugbo and Independencia in the month of July. However, due to technical issues, the planned implementation has been delayed to November 2024.
The author of the free WiFi resolution, Councilor Jerry Guardo has recently announced that the project be postponed to further address the issues regarding the project’s pricing, and its mobilization and demobilization services; a concern raised by Councilor Nestor Archival during their regular session last July 17, 2024.
Too Expensive
Councilor Nestor Archival has raised a concern regarding the pricing for the project, saying that based on its Program of Works and Estimates (Powe) the project is disadvantageous to the city. Further disclosing that based on the Powe, the city will be charged with Php 345,567.00 for the mobilization and demobilization alone. Which Councilor Archival deemed to be too expensive.
However, Councilor Rey Gealon offered a proposal that would benefit the government and will have no cost at all.
He said, “There is a proposal that an entity is offering free Wi-Fi for the city hall without cost to the city government, and it would just be entering the portal every hour, just like in the airport. What they want is that they will insert ads for 30 seconds, and that is what’s for them, and for us, a one-hour internet usage just like any other public facility abroad.”
— To further address these issues, the city council has agreed to conduct an executive session on August 21, 2024 inviting representatives from the Department of Engineering and Public Works, Bids and Awards Committee, Information and Communications Technology, contractor of Trends and Technologies, Department of General Services.

The long-awaited Marvel tandem is finally here in Cebu!
Deadpool movies never fail to disappoint, however, the recently released movie Deadpool and Wolverine took the fan satisfaction to another level!
Plot Summary
The movie is somewhat a crossover between Marvel Cinematic Universe and the earlier X-Men film series. It follows the quest of Deadpool in saving his universe from its untimely destruction, where he collides paths with the worst Wolverine in the multiverse. Together, Deadpool and Wolverine team up to defeat a common enemy.
Among the Deadpool movies that are currently in the film market right now, this movie is particularly the best so far. It was especially so that we got to see another side of Deadpool in the movie!
We mostly know Deadpool to be a loudmouth and annoying little prick, because he blabbers nonsensical words endlessly. Also, most Marvel heroes despise him due to his merciless style of punishing villains and how he accepts assassination requests to kill random people. However, the movie has shown that Deadpool can be merciful too. It displayed how Deadpool can be compassionate at times, when it is truly needed.
Additionally, the movie got really exciting since we got to see a Deadpool and Wolverine tandem on the big screen. Apart from showing a different side of Deadpool, the movie has also shown a different Logan (Wolverine) that we most usually see.
Dubbed as the worst Wolverine, the Logan in this movie currently had no hope in life while he laments on his past mistakes. Nevertheless, Wolverine was given a really tremendous character development in the movie.
Aside from Deadpool’s soft side and Wolverine’s character development, we also got to see amazing fight scenes and top-notch CGI. However, the brutality and bloodiness of the fighting scenes might be too disturbing for young audiences. Nevertheless, it will never be a Deadpool movie without brutality and blood.
Expect a Lot of Good Cameos
Marvel Cinematic Universe movies are not only known for their quality film production, but also for their unexpected cameos and the Deadpool & Wolverine movie is no different! The movie will surely surprise a lot of fans, since cameos of earlier released movies of Marvel heroes will be seen in the movie A LOT. Adding to the already exciting atmosphere the movie has to offer. Aside from the unexpected and good cameos, the movie will give you a lot of AHA! Moments.
— The movie premiered in the Philippine cinemas last July 24, 2025. So what are you waiting for? Catch the action-packed and heartfelt Deadpool & Wolverine movie in SM Cinemas nationwide! Let your Marvel’s heart be satisfied Sugboanon!

A cave that could potentially house humans has been discovered on the moon!
In 2010, radar data showed evidence of the existence of pits on the moon. However, a revisit of the data collected has shown scientists cave extensions below the pits.
A Discovery
A recent discovery has shaken the scientific world by storm. After revisiting the 2010 findings of the radar data collected by LRO’s Mini-RF (Miniature Radio Frequency), scientists discovered that 200 meters from the base of the Sea of Tranquility Pit lies a cave extension that is about 30 meters to 80 meters long.
The pit is just meters away from the 1969 Apollo 11 landing site; the history’s first moon landing mission.
A Human Base?
Since the start of space exploration, humans have been racing to establish their bases on the moon for easier access to space travel, and now that scientists have discovered a cave extension in the Mare Tranquillitatis (Sea of Tranquility), this could prove to be an opportunity for them!
According to NASA’s (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) LRO (Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter) findings, the lunar pits have been found to have comfortable temperatures. Moreover, the cave below the pit can protect humans from space radiation making it a perfect place for human bases in space.
— Although it has been widely agreed that the moon caves can become lunar bases for space explorations, scientists have also emphasized that the caves can also help us know more about the moon, since the place has been secluded for millions or possibly billions of years that hides it away from space weather erosion.
Rose Pharmacy’s “We Care Passionately” tagline resonated all around Cebu Business Park last July 21 2024 as Rose Pharmacy held its annual Cancer Warriors Run 2024.
To kick off the charity event for a greater cause, Rose Warriors from all ages and backgrounds were greeted by a Zumba session as a warm-up before starting their mission of running for hope. The gunstart was at 4:30 AM for the 10k category, 4:45 AM for the 5k, and 5:00 AM for the 3k with over 4,000 enthusiastic runners participating in all the categories.
More Than Just A Race
A highlight of the event was the turnover of the P1 million donation that was received by the CEO of the Cancer Warriors Foundation, Ms. Carmen Auste, which will help in continuing the young Cancer Warrior’s treatment.
The run also saw participation from prominent Cebu influencers such as Doc Xavier Gonzales Solis, Doc Juvel Ducay, and Michael Sagonoy, a Cancer Warrior himself. All unified with one goal, to give hope and show their support to children battling cancer.
The Cancer Warriors Run 2024 was more than just a race; it was a powerful demonstration that, as one community, we can be warriors for those children who are battling against cancer. We look forward to seeing even greater support and participation in the years to come as we care passionately together.
Riding a jeepney is a daily activity for many people in the Philippines. While it’s a cheap and easy way to travel, there are some things that can make the ride annoying.
Here are some common things people dislike when riding a jeepney.
SOBRA KA DAGHAN ANG PASAHERO (OVERCROWDING)
Jeepneys often have too many people, making it hard to sit comfortably. Passengers are squished together, and sometimes people even have to stand or hang on the side. The driver or conductor might say there’s still room, even when the jeepney is already full, making it even more crowded.
INIT WAY HANGIN (HEAT & LACK OF VENTILATION)
It can get very hot inside the jeepney, and the air doesn’t move well. This makes it feel like a sauna and can be very uncomfortable.
TRAFFIC
Traffic jams can make the ride take a lot longer. Sitting in traffic is frustrating and makes the trip seem endless.
USAHAY NAAY BAHO (BAD SMELL)
Sometimes there are unpleasant smells inside the jeepney, like body odor, food, or exhaust fumes, which can make the ride very unpleasant.
SABA (NOISY)
The loud music or noise from other passengers can be annoying. It’s hard to relax or think with all the noise.
SIKIT KAAYO ANG LINGKORAN (CRAMPED SPACE)
The seats are often small and cramped, making it uncomfortable to sit, especially during long rides.
KUNG DILI MUNAOG, DILI MO PLETE (LATE PAYMENT OF THE FARE)
Some passengers take a long time to pay their fare, slowing down the trip because the driver waits for the payment.
BUHOK SA IMONG TAPAD MAGLUPAD-LUPAD SA IMONG NAWONG (UNHYGIENIC EXPERIENCE)
The hair of the person next to you can sometimes fly into your face, which is very annoying and uncomfortable.
DILI MUSIKIT BISAG GALISUD NAKA
Some passengers won’t move to give space, even when you’re barely holding on. This makes it hard to get in or out and can be very frustrating.
Despite these annoyances, jeepneys remain an important part of daily life in the Philippines. So, it’s important to navigate Cebu’s jeepney routes like a pro. Understanding these common issues can help us be more patient and considerate while using this popular mode of transportation.
Share your icks whenever you ride a jeepney in the comments below, Sugboanons, and let’s discuss!
Rose Warriors, we had another successful fun run for hope last Sunday!
With the strong mission of showcasing Rose Pharmacy’s “We Care Passionately” spirit, the company once again held their annual Cancer Warrior Run yesterday, July 21, 2024, at the Sumilon and Pescadores Road, Cebu Business Park, Cebu City!
The Cancer Warriors Run 2024 launched with a fun zumba session at 4:00 AM, while the gunstart started at 4:30 AM.
The charity event not only aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle, but it also strives to show solidarity with cancer patients and their families by spreading awareness and building a community united in making a difference in the battle against childhood cancer. Aside from that, the Cancer Warriors Run also stood on their goal to raise funds for their partner, the Cancer Warriors Foundation Inc.
In 2019, Rose Pharmacy and the Warriors Run donated P1 million to the Cancer Warriors Foundation Inc., which they used to support the foundation during the pandemic.
This event first started in 2018 and was put to a halt during the pandemic from 2020 to 2021 before making its return in 2022.
